I ordered mine through Amazon and I got the its shipped email, but scheduled delivery is Wednesday of next week

^ Should've ordered from Samsung directly

Pre-ordered couple nights ago and mine arrived today already.

RRxtar 03-17-2018 09:08 AM

picked up my + yesterday.

SUPER disappointed with night clock change from the s7e. the s7e had a night clock on the edge that would come on between a certain time range and was big and bright and visible. great to see the time with your phone on the bedside table. the 9, and apparently the 8, got rid of that. you can select an AOD clock that is on the edge, but it is much smaller in comparison. that was basically my favorite edge screen feature.

Yeah I got mine through Samsung as I wanted to trade in a beat up S7E. Great phone so far, the dual cameras work well and the and I like the subtle changes they made in the software.

Can you guys recommend a fast wireless charger for the S9? I know about the Samsung charger but I'm looking for alternatives.

My wife got the 9+ on launch day, and it seems like a good upgrade from her S7E. I'm impressed with how far the UI has come along, as my last Samsung phone was a Note 2.

Off topic, the AR Emoji, while a fine novelty item, is fucking racist. It INSISTS my eyes are squinting when I make my avatar, even though they're fully open. When I smile, it closes them completely. Motherfuckers. Am Korean.

Anyone have recommendations for a screen protector for a S9+? All the reviews on Amazon are pretty terrible.

inv4zn 03-29-2018 09:29 AM

The Samsung store in metro will sell you a tempered glass one for ~$30, but it comes with a warranty so if it cracks the manufacturer will replace, you pay shipping.

It's good quality, no rainbow, and no touch issues. the S9+ also has an 'enhanced sensitivity' mode for protectors as well.

My S8 is having battery issue. It drains like 10%+ overnight with little to nothing on. Most of the battery usage is the OS and it keeps the phone awake for 4 hours. As soon as I set the phone to flight mode it use less than 2%.

It was fine when I got it during last year Chirstmas. Is it just an OS issue or is Samsung doing something.

RRxtar 03-30-2018 01:04 PM

samsung is notorious for barreries losing their jam.

first few months with m s7e i would go to bed with it still at 30% battery. after a year and a half it would be dead when i got home from work with power saving mode turned on all day.

as for screen protectors, honestly i wouldn't bother for scratch protection. unless you're hoping for cracking protection. im super had on phone screens as i work in a construction environment outside and my hands are always dirty and my pockets are usually full of dirt and grit and whatever. my last phone went 2 years and the screen was still in really good shape. no major scratches or wear at all. it looked like paint that probably could use a wax (faint swirls), but it wasnt beat up like all the phones i had before it.

edit: i actually typed barreries? i've been on RS too long :lawl:

Was having the same issue with my Note 4. Tracked the power consumption with an app and turns out Outlook was draining the battery. Deleted the app and no issues since.

Weren't you complaining about the same thing on the Oneplus thread?

FWIW my wife's S9+ loses ~3% overnight.

I'm using the anker 10w fast charger with the OEM brick..have the samsung stand one as well both fast charge

I prefer the samsung stand one vs the layflat anker..plus it comes with the power brick vs no qc charger for anker

I did and to be honest this is an issue I found with most android phones. The standby time just doesn't match up with iphone. Even my Iphone 6s it uses less than 3% battery overnight. I mostly use the same apps so I am not really sure why android always does this. To me it doesn't matter how big the battery is or how short it is to charge the phone. Is the standby time that really bugs me because most of the time I don't really use my phone while at work or when I am sleeping so I need good standby time.

...so why did you get another android lol. Anyway take it in if it persists, it shouldn't be doing that.

Checked it out. Ishieldz brand with some fancy packaging and supposedly "Japanese Asahi glass" for $39.99. Decided to pass since that's quite a price for something that sounds like it'd be sold at the Richmond night market for $8.

Spigen Thin Fit 360 comes with a case and tempered glass screen protector for ~$26 incl shipping on Amazon. The screen protector is supposed to fit spot on with no issues, but they don't sell it separately for some reason.
