Camera on the plus :fullofwin:

MarkyMark 02-26-2018 11:02 AM

The S9 might have been worth a look but they didn't include the dual camera, and the 9+ is too big to carry around everyday so I'll be passing.

originalhypa 02-26-2018 11:04 AM

I've been waiting for this to come out. I had an S7 edge, and now an S8 and they're great phones. The S9 looks familiar, but the internals appear to be far better. I'm waiting on my Roger's corporate pricing to see what it's going to cost me.

invader 02-26-2018 11:27 AM

I been rocking the Note 5 since its release.

Waiting for the 9. I'm use to and liking the larger screen so I'll be in for an S9 +

djstyles 02-26-2018 11:30 AM

Pre ordered a S9 Plus yesterday at the Samsung Store. Instead of getting free stuff this time around they are offering more attractive trade in prices plus and extra $150 off the price of the phone. How much will I get for my S8 Plus I don't know but should've asked. I got to play with a demo unit while I was there and the variable aperture option for the camera was pretty cool plus they finally have stereo speakers on a Galaxy phone!

If you are on Freedom, it's dirt cheap.

$10 tab, $240 upfront on the current $50 plan and up. $240 after taxes is $268.80
Minimum of $150 off with trade-in so $118.80 upfront.

Total cost after two years is $387.69.

If you know a Freedom buddy, you can get an "open box" return to bring the upfront cost to $18 after taxes.

Isn't that the same for every single new phone? The specs are a lot better than last year model but real life experience is almost the same.

Pretty much.

The 2 most important things for me in a new phone nowadays would be battery life and camera quality. The rest are all so similar that the difference is negligible at best.

Im due for an upgrade for my S7edge. Required since the usb port doesnt work anymore and the battery lasts half a day now.

Even if I didn't need a new phone Id still be looking pretty hard at the S9/S9+ because of the camera and hopefully more optimized battery.

Unsure about the 9 or 9+ tho, Ill have to handle the + to see how the size feels. The 9+ is a quarter of an inch taller than the S7e, and the 9 is a bit smaller and Im not looking for a smaller phone, but I don't want one much bigger either.

!LittleDragon 02-26-2018 04:02 PM

The camera interests me with this one. I'm coming into year 4 now with my Lumia 1020... lol

Been waiting for a replacement from Nokia but doesn't look like they're putting out another crazy camera phone anytime soon.

Euro7r 02-26-2018 05:09 PM

If I didn't already have the Note 8, I would jump and get the 9+

asian_XL 02-26-2018 05:23 PM

Few things I don't like about S8 and S9

1. Performance mode. It sucks so much battery power and by default setting to slower CPU speed
2. Bixby button is useless
3. Finger print sensor location
4. Force touch only limited to home button
5. Battery is getting worse everyday

Koflach 02-26-2018 07:06 PM

I'll wait for them to put the fingerprint reader in the screen before I upgrade my S8+

I had a S7E before upgrading to the S8+ and I have to say despite the taller phone the S8+ is much easier to hold due to the fact that the phone is narrower. I played with the S9+ and it is almost, if not the same, size as the S8+.

Where are you finding it for $10 tab? It shows $20 on their website.

$20 tab with $0 upfront
$15 tab with $120 upfront
$10 tab with $240 upfront

All the same, they are options you can do in-store on a $50 plan.

You do the $10 tab because you want to take advantage of the trade-in (can't do a trade-in on $0), but it looks like the $150 trade-in bonus was a typo and it's really $100, in which case you go with the $15 tab.

15 x 24 = 360
360 x 1.12 = 403.2

120 x 1.12 = 134.4
134.4 - 100 = 34.4

403.2 + 34.4 = 437.6

Total cost on contract for the phone is $437.6

I've been using it like this on my Note 8:

"Open Google Assistant"...<opens>
"Ok Google"

FerrariEnzo 03-01-2018 02:11 PM

You'll love the s9. I went from note 3 to s8.
