Someone dinged my door

Just thought I’d ask before I deal with ICBC but
I was in my car in a parking lot. I was doing some coding and next thing I know I heard a loud thump on the right side of my car.
I rolled down my window and I told the person you just hit my car. They’re like oh sorry. They literally swang their door open and dinged mine.
I get out inspect the damage and sure enough there’s a ding and a little paint transfer.
At this point they’re telling me that it doesn’t line up etc while I’m looking at it and telling them it lines up perfectly and there’s even paint transfer I’m like wtf!!!
They’re not cooperating with me so I’m like oh ok fine I’ll just deal with ICBC directly then.
I called them and made a claim number. They said that they were going to contact me during the week and talk to the adjuster.
I’m mainly wondering what would be the next steps?
Will I have to pay a deductible knowing I was not at fault at all since I was stationery and within the lines of the parking stall.
I took pics, a video, and some measurements with a measuring tape.

Paintless dent removal. 1 dent is like $20. It sucks, but seriously I would have just told the guy give me $50 and we will call it even for the headache and the cost of a dent removal.

$20 or so usually if you have more than a few dents.

Ya that sucks. Surprised he decided to give his insurance info instead. So much more of a headache for both parties and if he is found at fault I think that may even show up against his insurance lmao.

So many idiots that think it's okay to damage out people's things and not take responsibility.

If your car was a beater that you didn't care about, should have just opened your door a few times to ding them back

Almost any company. Call a mobile dent company, find out where they are working for the day, drive out to the guy to make their life easy rather than expecting them to show up at your doorstep. Have them pop the single dent out, pay the guy. If you expect them to drive an hour to you for a single dent then ya you might have some trouble finding someone.

Usually it's $100 + for the first dent and ones after are cheaper

The steps on my truck, stick out further than my door. I welcome people to swing their doors open beside me.

Me and my coworker have dealt with having our doors dinged and provided video proof to ICBC. Neither of us were successful as the thump wasn't enough to prove they dinged the door they need video of the door contacting the car. Also measurements were useless from the pics as they need to be an EXACT match from PICTURES ONLY . Hope you have better luck with them.

exactly why you drive a beater
not to mention you are going to get dinged anyways eventually. Even if you park out in no mans land some idiot will park beside you.

My car is at Open Road Richmond Autobody on No.5 Rd right now, they've been a great pleasure to work with.

Previous to this I had them repair a window and some trim pieces that got broken when somebody broke into the car. Again, very easy to work with.

*Disclaimer: Unfortunately at this point I haven't had them actually paint anything on the car yet, the first claim needed no paint, and they're still working on the car right now but looking at the estimate sheet they provided me they do have labour time for blending the paint for the repair so I figured that's a good sign.

I'd just call a mobile dent repair person. You'd be a fool to have actually body work done to your door over a dent. Put a large claim on your cars history and have aftermarket paint work instead of original (prone to potentially peeling in the future, on those doors easy to spot repair work, potential for dust in the paint, paint will never be a perfect match). That is just creating hurdles for yourself and devaluing your vehicle unnecessarily. If you have no experience with the process look it up. It will look as if it never happened, no body filler, no aftermarket paint, no big claim. Your claim will say something like $100 on carproof.

exact same thing happened to me in richmond... this chinaman straight up denies it and then walks away from me afterwards when i confronted him in a civilized manner, so i decided ok fuck you then... it was reported as a hit and run. you could even hear the thump in the dashcam video followed by me saying wtf?! Well, I ended up getting 0% responsibility for the accident and also explaining clearly to the estimator and adjuster how the situation went down helped as well. His insurance got fucked because it was a hit and run... and it didnt even have to go down like that but he decided to be a kunt about it so fuck him for wasting my time.

I went to Tristar Collision in Richmond for my civic. Granted, Taffeta White should be a pretty easy color to paint match. I know a civic should not be compared to a BMW X6 for services, but you'd be happy to know that my car was easily the cheapest one there. They had a bunch of supercars last time I was there.
