Who cares? I live in a condo and I don’t even look at the price of gas when I pull into a station. I need it, it goes in, it costs whatever.

Ain’t nobody got time for that / no awards being given out.

Its funny that you mention that. I swear Richmond is the only place I see ppl deliver food with Telsas, BMW, Mercedes, Porsches. In Vancouver ppl doing the samething but with non luxury vehicles. Maybe every penny does count? Lol.

I was talking to someone about this yesterday. I wouldn't even take 20 mins out of my free time to save $20 on gas unless I just felt like driving anyways. I cant imagine these 3 hour round trips across the border in traffic to save $50 bucks. I'd rather take my neighbours up on the "can you do mine next" joke when I wash my car and charge them each $20 than sit on fuckin oak street in traffic heading south to go load up a rolling pipe bomb full of jerry cans.

Acura604 06-25-2022 06:39 PM

- 10mins from border
- Nexus
- average savings $50 to $60 ( full tank + 4 jerries - premium grade)
- less than 30 - 40mins return trip if just doing Blaine.

- Costco Bellingham > lower mainland Costco

If you're a vancouverite or whatever then of course it doesn't make sense but I'm betting alot of the posters here in this thread are feeling the pain and don't wanna reveal it to the 'rich kids' thinking they're too good for everyone

I just do it out of convenience... if I wanted to save on gas locally the trek to Costco Langley is longer.

You don't like going to the US for gas...Great...then fill up locally. No one cares
..

Edaleen Dairy - Pretty much the cherry on top for saving $40 in gas.

$1.50 chocolate vanilla twist cones.

Oh trust me it hurts, to the point where I'm thinking of trading the family car for a PHEV or EV, but the numbers don't make sense.

No car payment vs taking on a $800 payment a month. I can't save $800 a month on gas. Even then, I'd save $50 a month if I went across the border for gas, and it'll cost me 90-120mins every time. My time is worth more than that.

westopher 06-26-2022 01:27 PM

I think I’ll put my name down for the new VW ID buzz in 2024 to replace the e46. We don’t use a ton of gas anyways but needing a new vehicle it makes sense to go electric. Replacing with electric for most people in Vancouver, North van, Richmond, Burnaby it would be pointless to spend the money replacing an otherwise good gas vehicle.

Badhobz 06-27-2022 09:39 AM

im waiting for my Camry to die (if it dies) and then replacing it with an EV for a daily commuter.

JDMDreams 06-27-2022 10:10 AM

^^ the EV will probably die before the Camry

Badhobz 06-27-2022 10:22 AM

im thinking the same thing. This stupid camry will never die, it'll probably outlive me.

dark0821 06-27-2022 05:41 PM

^

yea... esepcially when the camry in question is actually the Lexus ES, which I assume is probably built to an ever higher standard!

Badhobz 06-27-2022 06:28 PM

:alonehappy: Hoooray 4 fancy Camry !!!! (Won’t be invited to trollface’s sub 10k post pandemic car get together)

In Burnaby I get a lot of Audis, Mercedes, and Teslas doing deliveries. Haven't seen Porsches yet (even Macans). I got excited once when I thought they were coming in a G-wagen and it turned out to be a GLB.

Even out in Ridge, food delivery with teslas or suvs, it doesn't make sense

I saw a new rx450h yellow cab, buddy guys must be ballin :lawl:

this buddy guy dropped me off like 2 weeks ago. I asked him why he would use such a fancy car for taxi service, he said because he would still get a lot of money for it after they retire it from taxi fleet, so the residual washes out the upfront cost right now.

He says he puts in regular(even though i think all the hybrids lexus's require premium) and gets good enough gas mileage that it doesn't impact his bottom line too much compared to a similar corolla or Prius. Also maintenance is the same as a Prius.

I always thought color was a wrap, but apparently its paint. he said if they get into a fender bender, the paint is cheaper and easier to correct than rewrapping the car.

im going to ask for his car every time i take a cab now.

I find some are paint, some are wraps, it's all over the place.

I can't imagine an ex taxi car, regardless if it's a Prius or a Lexus, getting much money

I remember looking at older taxis (not listed as taxi) when I was in highschool, and each time the ad was "clean car, no damage, runs good, must sell"

Then you show up, it's got two holes in the roof, for the taxi sign, cum stain on all 4 seats, the kms are double what's listed in the ad, and the body always had a panel 1/2" out

Goobers trying to flip it from their cousin, wasting people's time

Badhobz 06-28-2022 01:05 PM

i think buddy guy was secretly just using this for taxi service temporarily and when his prius/corolla hybrid comes in, he will retire this RX-H

i dont know. Does the taxi license only work on 1 particular car or can you swap it around?

JDMDreams 06-28-2022 04:13 PM

What kinda l/100km do you get out of that rich man's Camry? Considering one as a winter beater but in my experience with the V6 in the rx330 plus rx350 they are pigs on gas that requires premium. :okay:

My experience is they are better than Honda and Nissan's V6, but ultimately you aren't gonna beat a 4 cylinder for putting around town.

Badhobz 06-28-2022 08:34 PM

I’m getting around 12L/100km in the city and around 9L on highway. Only need regular so it’s pretty good. It’s also quite spacious inside. Only downside is that the rear seats don’t fold at all. Not sure why Lexus decided to make them that way.

I’ve never filled up on premium for my wife’s 2019 RX. Runs fine on reg. Same with my ES.

whitev70r 06-28-2022 10:30 PM

Gotta get on that FB group that broadcasts premium gas at regular price, when station runs out of regular gas.

68style 06-29-2022 07:36 AM

^ I have some friends on that, I think they've spent more in gas and time blasting over to a gas station to try and get it than they could have ever saved.
