In the Province, breakdown of taxes on gas:

Carbon tax - 7.78 cents / litre
B.C. Transportation Financing Authority fuel tax of 6.75 cents a litre.
B.C. Motor Fuel Tax of 1.75 cents a litre.
TransLink fuel tax: another 17 cents a litre
Federal fuel excise tax of 10 cents a litre.

GST - 5% on top including all the other taxes.

By my calculations, that is like 45 cents/taxes per litre of taxes.

Acceleration was slightly down, but that could have been b/c I was running with 1/2 a tank for a week or so (added weight). Aside from that, just a (slightly) cheaper fill

if it's feeding a hi-compression motor or one that's force-induced, might as well just keep sipping premium...better safe than major repairs down the road

Ya, agent asked me how many jerry cans i had. I asked if there was a limit. Agent said anything in cans can be taxed. And limit is typically 100L, cause anything more can be a Transport Canada issue

Agent told me, "Wow that's a loaded question", when i asked about how many you can bring across (implying, without getting taxed).

All he said is that it varies from person to person, but the max is 150L, and you're defs getting taxed with that much gas.

So anyone have theories on why gas is exp now?

Couple of weeks ago it was because burnaby and WA state refinery was closed for maint.

refinery was back up mid April.

Now end April, whats the issue?

westopher 05-02-2018 08:06 PM

People are paying it, so why not charge it? Its always a game of how much can we charge before people actually stop using it.

Bend like a woman and take it like a man.

I haven't changed anything since the prices went up, except bringing a few extra jerry cans on the odd time I go to the states. Otherwise, it's just the cost of doing business.

twitchyzero 05-03-2018 11:38 PM

the cost of owning few dozen cars?
