Just about everyone I know is getting constant random phone calls from weird consolates around Canada/US. Obviously I never pick up cuz it’s just a recording, but they leave a voice mail and it’s always in Mandarin. I’m white AF so clearly they’re targeting Chinese people in he GVRD. |
These calls are spoofing numbers from Vancouver to Timbuktu. Don't bother trying to look them up in Google you'll just get a legit number for some of them that have nothing to do with it. Just hang up and move on. Eventually these assholes will give up and move on to the next scam. |
Yeah i keep getting calls from local numbers with a recording in mandarin. fucking pisses me off because it takes up space in my voicemail box as well. From my limited mandarin skill, they say that they're the chinese consulate office calling, something about a package or whatever... then i hang up lol. |

After you press #1, it will transfer you to an agent. He says, He's calling from Chinese embassy. And tells you that you have a very important Document from Chinese government. He told me Chinese government has a arrest warrant on me. It is because I sold my ID and a bank card to a Chinese lady who got arrested in China. lololol.....so much BSSSS I told them, i got nothing to do with China....Never beeeeen there...blah blah blah. Next Time, if i got this call again. I will tell him, this is Officer from RCMP (With Cop radio sound in the back ground). Where are you calling from ?? |
You can do what this guy did: |

Saw this in the news this morning: VPD warns of 'virtual kidnapping' extortion scheme - NEWS 1130 and I couldn't believe how far these people are willing to go along with the scammers. Agreeing to make fake videos in which they claim they have been kidnapped or the victim of some other crime? Agreeing to hide in a motel to keep away from Canadian police??? Granted, the Commies will use the dirtiest and most underhanded methods to threaten their targets, but those types of targets typically have some sort of history (including political dissent) or dirty secrets that they have to hide in the first place. If you are just a regular citizen, there is no need to be afraid of these threats. |
Just got this. I have no idea what they said, as they were speaking in Mandarin, but it sounds like the same format as the Chinese Consulate one. Wow I can't believe they're using legitimate business numbers, how does that even work? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dba421c3e2.jpg Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |
Caller ID spoofing Looks like there may be some relief coming next year? Quote:

Got a scam call when I was driving yesterday, picked up, heard the recording, and hung up right away. Not sure if this has been mentioned here, but there is a scam targeting Chinese folks that will have a recording that says you have a package, say the package is stuck at the custom or something, and will try to get you to pay money and ask you to not contact anyone. Too bad I didn't have my roommate with me, who knows how to say "F**k your mom, you stupid c**t" in Mandarin. I mean, I can say it, but the magic is just not there. It would have been hilarious if he was there. |

Its been brutally calling around. Almost all my colleagues have got this call. |
From what I have read, those guys were pretty prepared, too. In some cases, they reconnected to "a police office in Beijing", with legit phone numbers and the scammer will even tell you their "badge number." The worst thing is that some people went "missing", only to be found later because the scammers said that they should go into hiding and not contact anyone. Now I actually want them to call again with my roommate with me. Missed trolling opportunity right there. |
oh dey gettin creative showing up trying to cuff you https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/victor...uffs-1.3967379 |
I got a call from (226) 215-4415, and the voicemail was an automated message demanding that I call them back at that number or they'll arrest me with their scary warrant powers. |
Just a heads up, scam calls via spoofing is still happening but now it's smt about DHL Express. Not sure what they said in Chinese tho. |
I keep getting scam calls, usually about DHL deliveries. I've been pressing '9' to get to a live person so that I can swear at them, or speak quietly, and then yell really loud when they turn up the volume. |
^lol same here...when you're having a stressful day it's always fun to tell someone to fuck off. There was a BC hydro scam before...where some calls and say they're about to disconnect your power. Then when you say wtf and complain, they say call this number and they can help you with it. They can't do anything because it's a work ticket. The number they give you is 1-888....but i remember it's 1 888 bc-hydro. but when you call that "scam" number, an automated voice picks up and it sounds like bchydro but when you press 1 it goes to one of their scammer agents. |

I have also heard that you can just cover your phone with a metal pot and then bang on the pot to create some loud noises on the other end. |
i keep getting phone call from some random people saying they missed a call from my number. same thing is happening with my friend. |
This number was a savior for me, they helped me with my taxes and everything. It was weird having to fax my T4 and NOA to a number in Africa (didn't have to do that last year), guess the Federal government is outsourcing nowadays (stupid Trudeau). Looking forward to my big tax return! |
