do you believe dairy "supply management" is fair?
and instead of trying to work out with our temper-tantrum neighbour, you're gonna stoop down to their level by say you won't be pushed around and retaliate?
ask China how they feel about engaging in the trade war...and they are a substantially larger market

I would buy Canadian milk any day over American milk. There's so much hormones and antibiotics Americans put into their dairy to make it economical.

Make Canada Great Again | Canada's best weapon in a US trade-war: invalidating US pharma patents https://boingboing.net/2018/06/17/the-pharma-wars.html Quote:
First, this is not something we should just lay on the table willy-nilly. This is the trade equivalent of nuclear weapon. However, if Trump hits the auto sector then I'd roll this out immediately. No grace period, no waiting time, no nothing. Within a few minutes of Trump declaring said tariffs on automobiles hit them with this hard, fast, and immediately.
That said, I'd also follow this up (as I said in another post) with allowing Canadian pharmacies to fill US residents' prescriptions as long as they present it to the pharmacist in person. This will have the added benefit of increasing tourism numbers since those people will need to travel here, spend money here on hotels/food/etc, and on the prescription itself.
Now the US could respond by simply confiscating said prescriptions at the border and that's fine. By doing so they are now inconveniencing and aggravating their own citizens which would have a direct impact within the US.
So, this becomes a two-pronged approach. Piss off the LARGE Pharmaceutical lobby by negating their patents AND piss off elderly and ill voters by confiscating their legally purchased prescription medication. Just sit back and watch howls from Congress and the Big Pharma lobby that even Trump won't be able to ignore.

Why do you think it's America that would lose when it comes to these tariffs?

Here's a rough evaluation for Canada.
Doesn't look like the US would fair too terribly.. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/tra...ions-1.4710096 Quote:
For Canada, it predicts the economy would shrink 1.8 per cent.
"A ramp-up in protectionism in the U.S. results in a negative impact on growth in each of the NAFTA partners' economies," said the report, co-authored by Scotiabank's Brett House, Juan Manuel Herrera, René Lalonde and Nikita Perevalov.
Under the most aggressively protectionist scenario, the U.S. economy would contract by 0.1 per cent in 2020, the report said. Any of the scenarios in which tariffs are applied would lead to the U.S. growing less robustly than it should.

Why do you think it's America that would lose when it comes to these tariffs? | Cheap Chinese goods. You think trump supporters are going to be happy when the prices go up at their local dollar store?
