NY State wanted to limit attendance at religious gathering in light of Covid pandemic. US Supreme Court overturned that saying it is a 'threat to the 1st amendment' ... anyone want to guess who cast the pivotal vote as it was overturned 5-4?

There are 2 separate concepts here, and I think it is important to keep them separate when discussing what happened.
The 1st concept is what is allowed or disallowed in the 1st amendment. The 2nd concept is whether it is a smart thing for religious establishments to continue holding religious services during a pandemic. If you mix the 2 concepts up, or try to blend them together into a single argument, I'd say that's the wrong approach.
According to Wikipedia:
Quote:
The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prevents the government from making laws which regulate an establishment of religion, or that would prohibit the free exercise of religion, or abridge the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the freedom of assembly, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances.
So if you were to read that, what does it say and mean to you? To me, it's pretty clear cut -- the 1st amendment says the government can't make laws that'd prevent the free exercise of religion. And since the constitution sits above all other laws, I don't know what other options there are except to call a spade a spade -- ie. the State government cannot make a law that overrides the 1st amendment.
The 2nd and completely separate question is -- is it smart for religious institutions to continue holding in-person religious services during a pandemic? I'd say this one is pretty clear cut too -- of course it's stupid to do so!
But believe that a guy no one has ever seen or met is controlling everything that happens and answering your prayers and gifting certain people like professional athletes with abilities so they can make tones of money entertaining people.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, religion has become this "get out of jail free" card for people to just behave like complete shit.
"I CANT BE AN ASSHOLE I LOVE JESUS" says the person who literally gives a fuck about no one but himself.
If someone wants to follow a religion, cool, enjoy it, it's not my thing, but if it makes you happy, great. If you want to use it as an excuse to put other people in harms way, you really haven't been following along what it's about.

Holy shit he's going to get worse and worse until Jan 20 isn't he?
Laughing stock of the world. I can't believe the reporter didn't take the opportunity to say "not for long" when he freaked out and said "Don't talk to me that way, I'm the president"
I don’t know how those reporters don’t just laugh at him half the time, who is he to be telling anyone they need to talk with more respect? What a literal piece of shit.

If you want to understand why welfare and others like him support Trump ad nausrum, watch Hillbilly Elegy ...Netflix. Story of JD Vance, grew up in Ohio, rust belt, got ticket out and went to Yale law school. Fascinating. Eye opening.
a "data scientist" coming up with that conclusion?
Looking at from perspective of a person who make living looking at data, AKA, a "data scientist", this article is so pathetic at best.
more than double number of people voted for 2020 primary than 2016, many of whom never cared to vote in the past because they couldn't care less about shitshow in politics. When there's huge surge in voters whom never previously voted in the past votes for the first time, it's no brainer that there will be spike in number of errors in voter registration. Ignoring reasons behind these number and only pointing out irregularities is not what "data scientists" do. It's what number manipulators do. I can create basically any story with given set of data to support any claim I want if I try to manipulate the data or simply look at it in one angle only. Obviously, this isn't how data science works, and the study produced by such means is nothing more than toxic waste.
On a side note, let say that 13,372 votes were all fraud whom voted all for Biden. Biden won Nevada by 15,911 and it still won't change the outcome.
So I guess we should expect to see a 20,000% increase in ballot error in other areas with comparably high turnout compared to 2016
