^ No, I think it's actually better he doesn't attend the inauguration. It would be awkward as hell to have him there and if there is any ceremonial part of him passing something on to Biden. Plus, he is a magnet for cesspool sh*t ... his followers will all descend and wait for his dog whistle call.
In a way, what’s the most fucked about all of this is that if trump had just run a half decent campaign and not come across bat shit crazy regarding covid etc. He probably could have won easily for the second term.
Like, the universe is in a better place with the way things played out but he could have EASILY won again if he had run a campaign that was even close to his first one
It's actually pretty crazy how close the race was given his absolutely terrible term as president. Everyone expected him to be blown out of the water and but he came so close. It really drives home the fact that the US is full of people with the same mentality.
Would Trump make a terrible decision on the foreign policy front and start a war for Biden to clean up?
Pelosi is concerned about nuclear launch codes in the hands of Cheeto:
Speaker Pelosi says she spoke to top US general about Trump and nuclear codes
From CNN's Phil Mattingly
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told members in a letter that she spoke to the chairman of the joint chiefs about President Trump and the nuclear codes.
"This morning, I spoke to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike," Pelosi wrote. "The situation of this unhinged President could not be more dangerous, and we must do everything that we can to protect the American people from his unbalanced assault on our country and our democracy."
In the letter she also thanks members following Wednesday's insurrection, shared the news of USCP officer Brian Sicknick's death following the breach, and that she hopes to hear from Pence "as soon as possible" about removing Trump from office.
"Nearly fifty years ago, after years of enabling their rogue President, Republicans in Congress finally told President Nixon that it was time to go. Today, following the President’s dangerous and seditious acts, Republicans in Congress need to follow that example and call on Trump to depart his office – immediately. If the President does not leave office imminently and willingly, the Congress will proceed with our action," Pelosi wrote.
The letter also announced that there will be a letter coming from the Office of the Attending Physician and the Office of the Employee Assistance about resources available to members for responding to trauma in the wake of Wednesday's attack.
The idiot that broke into Pelosi's office and stole stuff from her was arrested in Arkansas today. An Alabama resident was charged in connection to the pipe bombs at the Capitol buildings.
The man photographed sitting at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's desk during Wednesday's riots in the US Capitol has been arrested and charged with three federal counts, including theft of public property, federal officials said Friday.
Federal officials said Richard Barnett of Arkansas was taken into custody Friday morning in Little Rock.
Barnett was charged with knowingly entering and remaining in restricted building grounds without authority, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds as well as the theft of public property, officials said.
A resident of Alabama was also charged in connection with the pipe bomb found on the south side of the Capitol building. Eleven Molotov cocktails and military-style weapon were found in his pickup truck, officials said.
House Democrats are currently planning to introduce articles of impeachment against President Trump as soon as Monday, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.
That could set up a vote in the House early to the middle of next week. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has not explicitly said when this will go to the floor.
This would be the second time the House has unveiled articles of impeachment against President Trump
^ more symbolic than anything. Kind of a waste of time. Maybe just want him to go down as the only president who was impeached twice ... haha. I don't think Senate will pass it, those 2 new Senators haven't officially started yet, have they?

Yes, I agree. -would be symbolic and historical for Trump to be the first US president to be impeached twice.
The thing is with Cheeto is that we know that this narcissistic psycho has a very thin skin. Who knows what this idiot might do as an act of revenge in response to a second Impeachment if he does get impeached.
I don't blame Pelosi for talking to the top U.S. general, the joint chief of staff today about any precautions to prevent Cheeto from accessing launch codes to all of America's nuclear weapons.

I woke up that day with people texting me "You see what's happening at the Capitol?!?!".
I literally just laughed. This was not a surprise whatsoever, these idiot minions are paid to fly out to his rallies, and conduct this type of protest, it's been happening for the last 5 years or so now.
I was actually more surprised in terms of how small of a crowd it actually was, I expected more people, I expected more of an impact. It almost seemed like the last "gasp" of the Trump movement, and it was anti-climatic at best.
I personally think it's pretty much over for Trump and his family going forward here, the white nationalist movement will go on, but I have a feeling they'll hang their hat with someone else. I could be totally wrong and if he ends up announcing a 2024 run, be prepared for more years of his bullshit.
What I was more angered by is the obvious disparity in treatment by the police. There were off-duty cops and military folks in this "protest" and watching the police response made is quite evident how the white establishment views and treats protests from their counterparts.
There's a serious deep and systemic rot in many of the police forces throughout the country, and there needs to be a thorough investigation not only within the Capitol Hill Police, but in other forces in the country. It's been festering for a long time now, but I think Tuesday has shown what we've been saying in terms of "restructuring the police".
This is why I when you hear Police Officials say thing like "Our officers are professionals, and are unbiased, politics don't supersede professionals, yadda yadda".
We all know that's bullshit. When you have forces throughout the country with a massive Republican slant towards a party that are otherwise a white nationalist movement at this point, human bias will ALWAYS occur. To continue to ignore that obvious fact, and allow business as usual is ignoring basic human mentality.
This is why officers should be paid better, require higher educational standards, and slim down the funding for "equipment" and "toys". Hire less, but hire better. At this point you don't need so many physical officers in that damn police state, hire less officers, make the requirements more stringent, and offer better pay, make it a marque job.
College graduates lean heavily Democratic, and not Republican.
There is a reason we don't see as much abuse by departments like the VPD (I'm not ignoring that there are problems), but that post-secondary requirement to enter the force is a massive element to employing better officers in my opinion. I've regularly had better interactions with VPD officers than that of RCMP officers which carry MUCH lower hiring standards, and yes I know my observations are anecdotal.
If Trump did try to pull some last minute bullshit with nuclear threat or a war as his last hurrah and the VP and the cabinet doesn't pull the 25th immediately, then I would lose all hope and respect for US of America.
That nuclear shit is just Pelosi and her dog whistles for idiots sitting at home jerking off to trumps downfall imo
It would be unbelievable if trump made any sort of attempt to run in 2024, he’s old enough and despite what people may think, he will still have enough money and influence to basically live any sort of private or public life he wants after the presidency. Nothing is going to happen to him after. Maybe some law suits or these attempts to impeach him after he’s out of office but he’s not going to be going to jail or anything like that.

You are a step ahead.

Why are people suddenly acting like white collar crime is actually prosecuted in the US?
That's one thing I get so sick of on left-wing media, even the NYT and WP are posting articles of Trump being arrested, charged, impeached, etc.
Let me repeat, none of these things will happen. Trump is a plutocrat, he is an oligarch. He will settle his court cases, and you'll never hear of what was settled due to non-disclosure agreements.
He will never spend a day in prison, or face any consequences outside of being partly ostracized (specifically Ivanka, and Jared more so) from the elite liberal circle.
Jared was literally in Saudi Arabia making deals the same day as this riot
These guys are rich beyond comprehension, their names will carry dirt forever, but their lifestyles will never change. Mark my words.
I find satisfaction in seeing people like Ted Cruz and Lindsay Graham now getting shit from both sides as a result of their spineless, unprincipled behavior.
Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

Very true. But Trump has step beyond white collar crime now.
He didn’t just steal money from the poor, cooked the books and lie to investors.
he made an attempt at the very system that the country is founded and and threaten the lives of democratically elected representative.
Insurgency, planning and funding coups. That’s some pretty heavy accusation and way beyond the typical white collar crime that just a slap on the wrist.
White collar crime don’t get prosecute to its full extend because by doing so it’s Maintain the status quo that is the capitalistic system. It continuous to perpetuate the notion that as long as you have power and money the laws can be bend to you needs.
What trump did by inciting the riot, he completely flip the status quo upside down. This act is telling the upper echelon of society that no matter how much money, power and influence you have garner. All it take is one crazy but also rich lunatic to rile up the lowest denominator of society, the hillbillies with guns and they got this close to over throwing the entire system and endangering all of their lives.
This is not white collar crime. This is an indirect crime towards the people of America and a direct attack on the upper echelon of society that have for so long thought their money and influence will keep them safe.
Look at how fast Trump’s supporter both political and economically turn on him after the riot. Those that stick by him thru thick and thin, thru all the bullshit.
Trump might really end up walking away free but if nothing is done about this. This sends a message to the society that the these societal elite can be topple by a group a hillbillies. That is a dangerous message for the elite to swallow.

Normally I'd agree with you guys but this feels different. I think there are people in power who desperately want to make Trump pay, and may make bringing him and his family down their life's goal. Maybe just a hunch, maybe wishful thinking, but it feels like a lot of people - not just people like us - feel the need to see him go down in flames. We shall see
