i actually sat through this thing last night. i wouldnt watch the trump debate that's too frustrating, but this one was watchable. vance is pretty intelligent and well spoken but walz came off as more genuine by a long shot.
the thing is vance can polish the turd as much as he wants but ultimately trump is going to strongarm whatever he wants without opposition. at least with walz you can expect that he and harris will have meaningful conversations to decide on policy direction. vance will just give no resistance to trump at all, he's just his PR guy.

I watched the debate, it was fine, nothing really new there.
Vance really used a Gish gallop style of debating where he threw a bunch of bullshit out there where you don't really have the time to argue and refute. Walz seemed like he was trying to hard to argue each point and ended up coming off as rushed and nervous.
He seemed to settle down a bit later on in the debate which was good.
The debate won't move the polls at all, neither guy really outlined their agenda much. Vance said some stupid shit in relation to mass shootings in that the guns are coming across the boarder by immigrants. It kinda pissed me off that Walz didn't highlight that almost all of these mass shootings are conducted by recently purchased LEGAL arms from gun shops, meaning that restrictions and some type of actual gun policy would help address the problem.
Vance looked pretty bad when he wouldn't even say Trump lost the election, and if he would've certified the election had he been VP. It really much felt like he was auditioning for 2028.

Trump started it in the last debate, and JD did the same.
I honestly don't understand how that argument holds any weight outside of a simple laugh. The vice president isn't president, it's a lame duck position, you don't control policy in that position.
For whatever reason Trump/JD keep using this argument of "Why don't you make these changes you're saying right now?".
Biden is president, not Harris, you'd think the answer is as simple as "I'm not president, when I am, I'll make these policy changes."

Because if she uses that as the reason, not only will that become their way into the point that she disagrees with the current president's policies (and shit on Biden and Democrats even more), but also question why she doesn't speak up against it, and suggest she's not doing enough in her position. it's a trap, it's a lose-lose situation to address it.
They want to maintain a united front (or at least the optics of it).

So the gym bro guy in my building today basically told me I'm stupid and need to wake up cuz I told him X isn't a legitimate news source just because he says it's a legitimate news source and things kinda went south from there.
Apparently I'm also part of the problem because I work (well.... worked?) for the government... I thought he was honestly gonna take a swing at me at one point.
But as he put it liberals and woke people are dividing the country and inciting violence... couldnt' possibly be people who say they're right just because and then want to punch people like me who "disgust" them when they don't agree could it? lol
