Personally, at this point I don't even think we need foreign interference to lose faith and seriously distrust the democratic process because domestic actors, vested interest, and the politicians themselves have already done a mighty fine job to severely erode our trust in the system. Speaking from first hand experience / observation, I've seen it recur often enough at all 3 levels of our gov. And in the US' case, Trump is already the king of sowing division and distrust.

Maybe it has always been like this, but I know I am nowhere nearly as jaded nor cynical 10 years ago.

...It's happening. National Guard troops are on standby in Washington, Oregon, and Nevada for the potential of violence during and after the election.

I find it hard to really trust either side given their “support” everyone is only out for personal gain they couldn’t give two fucks about democracy or any of the actual issues.

You’ve got Leonardo Decaprio on trump for “climate change denial” while the guy is taking private jets all around the world and flying helicopters to mega yachts

And you’ve got cardi B out there for Kamala for “women’s issues” while she’s out drugging and robbing people? lol

I also kind of chuckle at global news running their ads saying “Democray is on the ballot!!!” Like who is a Canadian news outlet to say shit like that.. why is it because you think trump will just further these news bans where they these outlets have to pay google, Meta, etc. in order to get their ever increasingly irrelevant “news” to people over social media?

None of these people or outlets actually care about the topics, they are just looking out for personal gain.

I will say at least Leo has been flying commercial at times lately to various things he has attended to cut down on private jet use.

He also buys a shit tonne of carbon offset credits.

Not a big fan of his and understand the ire he induces for a variety of reasons but he certainly does a lot more than most do to try and offset things.

Oh yea I’m sure you’re totally privy to the in’s and outs of one of the most famous celebs in history worth hundreds of millions of dollars :lol

Virtually anyone worth 100+ mill I guarantee you is a sack of shit who’s stepped on countless people, companies, done heinous shit to get where they are.

Someone who is voting Trump ain’t looking at Leo and thinking “actually this guy makes some good points!”

When you see people like him, Oprah, Will Ferrel, etc. coming out and making what are essentially “anti trump” ads of their own doing, it makes you think that they have something to lose personally. Because people at that level of wealth and influence are not affected by politics. They can do whatever they want whenever they want. So what are they scared of?

Manic! 11-04-2024 10:22 AM

Hondaracer do want me to list all the pedos and drug dealers supporting trump?

Hondaracer 11-04-2024 10:26 AM

I’m sure there’s an equal number on the other side you’ve never heard of who also have something to lose.

Also a pretty big lol now that Kamala wants to legalize weed, then you look into it and her and Biden were responsible for locking up hundreds of thousands of people over possession in their tenure.

Politics is so fucking grossssss

I don't know why you're quoting me to say this... I don't know Leo obviously... but I can read.. and I said I'm not a fan but he deserves some credit for doing something rather than nothing.

You also don't know the ins and outs of what they do, so how do you know he or anyone else doesn't spend millions on stuff lke this? You're being pretty hypocritical.

You don't think anyone is a good person as soon as they're rich? I think Will Ferrell seems to be a decent guy no matter what $ he has. He didn't have to make a film about being friend with a trans guy and I've never heard of him being anything but extremely kind.

Hondaracer 11-04-2024 10:28 AM

Because when you’re Leo, you aren’t waiting on a 6pm spirit flight to Chicago.

You book private jets through shell companies and fly as much as you want without anyone knowing.

He doesn’t give a shit about anything but appearance.

I guess my point is, to your actually educated, rationale, person, celebrity endorsement is a negative, not a positive.

68style 11-04-2024 10:33 AM

yah I don't put much value in it myself... altho I can appreciate when some people take a big stance on something and its genuine because they don't HAVE to... like Arnold coming out to say he's Republican but American first... he didn't HAVE to say anything but he believes strongly against what he sees happening.

Oh come on man, that's stupid.

The climate on weed was completely different back then, people can pivot their opinion/stance based on where the culture is at.

Strawman and stupid argument in my opinion, and you know that. Trump and the Republicans have held no stance on legalization. I'm here in Texas and it's a shit show when it comes to weed, absolutely silly.

I ask Republicans down here, you guys are all about "freedom", why not marijuana then, why does this state not have the freedom to recreationally use it? The last answer I got from a dude working at a bar was "the freedom part only applies to guns" :lol

We both laughed.

What do you think would happen if he was to walk into an airport just like everyone else?

Oh I agree, but it reeks of desperation announcing it days before the election

I laugh though when I read a lot of the comments on this announcement as the vast majority of them are along the lines of “Trudeau legalization turned Canada into shit so don’t do it here” :lol

mikemhg 11-04-2024 10:58 AM

It's not last minute at all, if you've been following her policy stances, she's been saying it for a while now:

Facts are important.

Hondaracer 11-04-2024 11:02 AM

That policy was only released like 3 weeks ago as per that article?

trump today just released a new major policy. A tariff on Mexico. Starting at 25% going up to 100%. This was never talked about before.

Hondaracer 11-04-2024 11:26 AM

Those tariffs are going to fck over Canada. I thought you where Canada first.

Hondaracer 11-04-2024 12:28 PM

What can I do, if that happens Canada should figure out their shit and utilize the assets we have.

Don’t hold my fingers crossed quivering in the corner awaiting the US election results. The only thing I’m doing is making sure I have cash for market fluctuations.

I would sell all your tech stock if trump wins. Who is going to guy an Iphone when it has a 200% tariff on it. Smuggling Iphones and other tech to the US will become a thing.

This is why people fxxking hate lawyers. There is a difference between "randomly" and "by chance"? Fxxk you, fxxkface laywer! I can't believe anyone except sleaze bag lawyers (and maybe politicians) can say that with a straight face.

You're talking out your ass, she's mentioned it for quite some time before, even in her initial running back for the Democratic nominee way back when.

You also do realize she has only been nominated as the official nominee when Biden stepped down in late July right?

When did you want her to put that formally in her agenda, before she was born? Would that make you happy? :lol
