There is no shortage of news and information pointing out that historically, Democrats manage the economy better than the Republicans. And yet somehow, voters still think an unscrupulous businessman who has filed for bankruptcy at least 4 times is still the better manager of the economy.
On a completely separate note, how likely does RS think Trump can finish his presidency? I am not sure whether the prospect of President Trump or President Vance would be more scary...

It's almost like Biden sticking around until he strokes out on stage and then shoving Kamala down everyone's throats when NO ONE liked her wasn't a great strategy. Very interesting.
Also Joe Rogan has more pull than Taylor Swift lol

Some of you guys still don’t fucking get it.
Kamala didn’t just lose the electoral college votes, but also the popular vote. And Republicans are on track to take both senate and house.
The problem is that the economy tanked. Biden and Harris managed it poorly on everything from the economy itself to things that affect the very wellbeing of regular joes. And yet somehow they still decided to campaign on “joy” or whatever facial thing.
There was no clear policy changes or even just laid out the direction it’s going. The moment she said that she would change anything that Joe did, I knew she had lost the election. She had no clue about what to do. You can only go so far with all the aura and celebrity endorsement.
Some of you are so detached from the regular folks that sheer audacity of claiming Kamala was a better choice just
The very detachment from reality is what lost democrats everything. If they would have listened to those folks and address their concerns, she might have had a shot out at least would have lost that bad on senate/house.

I think what really happened is inflation and everyone is voting for a new gov. Same thing is driving a lot of the votes in Canada. Not really much to do with policy.

This world is so fucked. Democracy just doesn’t work.
All hail communism.

Votes are still being counted but seems like Kamala got about 15m less votes than Biden did (81m v 66m) while Trump got 3m less than last time. Assuming there's a few million still to count that's still a huge dropout of voters from last time.
The turnout operation didn't work otherwise this likely would have been a landslide for Kamala.

People on both sides of the border are done with the runaway liberal BS.
Some feelings gonna be hurt in the next few years. It was never gonna be as good as people delusionally thought under Kamala, it probably won’t be as bad under Trump as everyone here seems to think.
People here weren’t even close in their assessment of the situation.

What are the odds that JD Vance has to step in as President in some form or another within the next 4 years?
Whether it's health, impeachment/legal, assassination attempts could be multitudes of possibilities given his age among other things.

Good news is we won't have to deal with another US election in 4 years cause term limits will be long gone.

Genuinely troubled. Was I wrong in predicting a Harris win? Yes. Was I wrong for wanting decency at the cost of higher price for a dozen of eggs? No.
"Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it." Just because the majority of people voted one way, it doesn't make something 'right'.
The cost of living thing/economy is obviously a global worldwide phenomenon and as someone said, Biden/Harris were at the wrong place at the wrong time? Do I agree with all the liberal stuff of the Dems, no, but I'm willing to accept some of that over threats of personal violence, vandetta, convictions, power mongering, and Prez supporting riots on country's own capital. So now what ... this means that America is OK with his actions on Jan 6? All is forgotten? Cray cray world. Character as leader of US over economy all day and every day.

What makes you think you're in touch with regular folk? Or that you can tell people here that do work in and around regular people every day that they're the ones who don't know what's up?
Having a beer once or twice a year with your tenants =/= knowing regular folk.

Another thing to note that the free trade agreement, USMCA, between the US, Mexico, and Canada will be renegotiated under a Trump administration to be more favourable for the Americans.
Yeah, sure, our stock portfolios might go up in value in the short term because of Trump's business friendly corporate tax cuts.
Then what? Trump is always pro-American. He is a protectionist. He will try to get more manufacturing jobs in the U.S.
The next round of negotiations for the free trade agreement between the US, Canada, and Mexico will be quite unfavourable for Canada and Mexico. 100 percent bad for Canada.
Here is what the USMCA does for Canada, for now:
CUSMA provides Canadian small businesses more privileged access to the United States and Mexican markets by phasing out tariffs on most Canadian goods. It ensures duty-free market access for over 99 percent of Canadian exports to all three countries.

^ the irony is that Trump banged the "election fraud, it's rigged" drum all week (arguably the past 4 yrs) and now that he's won, do you think he'll bang that drum again?

You’ll see the same thing in Canada shortly. | They're not the same thing.
Think on this for a moment: Trump spent the last 2 weeks (or... 5 years arguably) constantly saying the entire voting system is rigged, but then he won. So is it suddenly not rigged now?
Democracy not working is a way of describing the fact that people don't know what they're voting for anymore and don't understand the issues.
I'm under no pretense that the next governing party in Canada will be anyone besides the Conservative Party... that's a money in the bank bet. It's not necessarily for the right reasons though... it's going to happen because people have become extremely contrarian, which isn't the objective of a democracy.
