like you need citizenship to do any of that shit anyways lol

Heck even Indian people I talk to here are saying it's cheaper , faster and better quality to fly back to India to get medical procedures done these days.

68style 01-22-2025 01:33 PM

Woof... I dunno about that.

I've been to some hospitals in India... no thanks.

CivicBlues 01-22-2025 01:36 PM

like everything in the developing world, more money buys more quality. They're not going to public hospitals to get elective surgery done.

Hondaracer 01-22-2025 01:40 PM

Even people who can afford it here aren’t sending their 80 year old parents back to India.

They will just dump them off at the ER and let the system sort it out.

My sister and my wife’s cousin both worked at Surrey memorial, she’s like 75% of the intake is Indian people over the age of 70. Those people ain’t citizens lol

China's future outlook is also not exactly a bright shining star though. Even when you overlook all the political issues, China is facing a rapidly aging and shrinking population. When those 2 things occur together in any country, the economy is almost guaranteed to decline. With no / minimal gov-backed social support structure in place, it is going to be a rough ride for Chinese folks living in Mainland China.

Musk now bashing trumps 500 billion l dollar AI project. I thought he was a part of it? Is this going to fck over his AI project?

CivicBlues 01-22-2025 01:50 PM

This is true, but its just a matter of a race to the bottom at this point.

Guys, you don't have to take my word for it, just google Medical Tourism ____ and you'll find tons of examples. International Medical students come study in the west, go home and then open up their own medical practice and make bank selling to wealthy foreigners/diaspora with low overheads, fewer regulatory pressures. It's a no brainer.

If you told me a few years ago Thailand was a hotbed of dental tourism or that Turkey is on the leading edge of hair treatments I wouldn't have believed you, but here we are now.

Hondaracer 01-22-2025 01:56 PM

Cosmetic procedures for profit are a bit different than like chronic undiagnosed health issues though

From CNN:

But perhaps it should not be a surprise that Musk is going after an OpenAI initiative. Musk is in an ongoing lawsuit with OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman, who was at the White House for the announcement. Musk, who has said he “doesn’t trust” Altman, claims in the lawsuit the ChatGPT has abandoned its original nonprofit mission by reserving some of its most advanced AI technology for private customers.

Musk launched a lawsuit against OpenAI because he claims that AI is being reserved for private customers instead of following its original mission statement of offering its technology as open source, for non profit use.

What makes you think they don't charge for those as well? All procedures are for sale outside of Canada heck even just across the border.

Yes a lot of Indians are clogging up the system here but ironically it's forcing other more well off folks to go back to their home country and spend money to fix their issues

Musk could sue himself for similar claims lol

We only got to Day 2 before these power hungry morons started turning on each other... lovely

Very unracist and very sane thing to do.
Keep asking "how is that racist though." Rolling back the civil rights movement from 1965 for sure is in the name of equality.
Quote:

On Tuesday, President Trump signed an order revoking decades-old executive orders signed by Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon that established enforcement of anti-bias measures in federal employment and contracting related to race, sex, religion, and national origin under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Trump order also revokes orders signed by President Barack Obama enforcing diversity promotion in the national security workforce and the overall federal workforce. Trump also directed all federal diversity, equity, and inclusion staff to be put on paid leave by the end of the day and eventually be laid off.

Dr. Berry points out that the need for anti-bias and diversity mechanisms for employment in the federal workforce has always existed, particularly in the 1960s and 1970s, because workers who were not white were simply overlooked. “It was the culture,” she told theGro. “Taxpayers pay for contracts, and everybody has the right — any kind of taxpayer — to see to it that they … get a fair look.”

Then they give birth, and voila~ The newborn is a bona fide Canadian, with full entitlement to all the rights and benefits that every Canadian citizen is entitled to.

This is so obvious how to fix, for example, in order for a child born in Canada to have Canadian citizenship, one parent (or both, you can set the law as restricted as you like) must be Canadians.

-over heard this remark from a co worker today about Trump being president, again:

“When you elect a clown, you get a circus”

My reply to that co-worker: “When you elect a monster, you get a horror movie for four years.”

Dude, with all due respect, why do you keep talking about Indians? I'm Indian, and I've never met a single Indian person who has gone back to India to get a medical procedure done.

SkinnyPupp 01-22-2025 08:19 PM

Are eggs cheaper yet?

Apparently they cost an average of $4.91 per dozen in Washington in 2024

To compare, I pay about $3.75 per dozen for Japanese eggs here (price adjusted since they are sold in packs of 10 here for some reason). Chinese, Malaysian, and Thai eggs are a bit cheaper, but I find these to have more consistent quality. Local is the cheapest of course, but are covered in poop.

Before Covid, this would have been $2.70.

(edit for people who may not get it, the point of asking was which of the 100+ orders he signed in the first few days will do anything to lower the price of eggs, which was the main reason people claimed they voted for him)

Keep talking? The same way I keep talking about East Asians and whites? Perhaps it's because 80% of my coworkers are Indian and Indo-Canadian and it's the largest immigrant population by far coming into Canada these days? Maybe you have a bit of selection bias, just sayin'. I find it funny you never call out Hondaracer when he's constantly saying "buddy-guy this, buddy guy that"... he's not talking about hosers eh?

With all due respect I didn't realize you represented the entire Indian diaspora. I'm just regurgitating what I've been told by one coworker, I didn't call him out and tell him he's full of shit but then maybe I'm just naive. The guy actually full on moved BACK to India and took a huge pay cut because he didn't like it here after several years. *shrugs*. Now that's crazy.

Edit: It's literally a thing

Well trump ordered health agencies to stop telling the public about bird flu today, so if everyone is down with eating eggs from infected birds, should be a bit cheaper so looking pretty good for him to come through on that promise.

FUck me paying $8/dozen here for free range shit. Worth it though at least my yolks are orange and creamy.

There is a brand I occasionally buy when on sale that are extra orange and creamy, but yeah those are like $7.50 a dozen normally. So good though!

Australian and New Zealand free range are even more!

CivicBlues 01-22-2025 08:47 PM

These are my brand, they've ruined me for any other yellow-yolked eggs. Local too! ALR ftw.

SkinnyPupp 01-22-2025 09:14 PM

It's funny they say "vegetarian", but chickens ain't no vegetarians. Free range they will eat literally everything, including each other if they have a chance to (sometimes just a chunk). That's what makes their eggs so good!

Dbone 01-23-2025 05:08 AM

Wait, you guys are buying imported eggs? I didn't know that was a thing. (edit: Oh i see Skinny is in HK)

Twitler hates open AI because:
  • They told him to go suck an (imported?) egg
  • They are ahead of his AI project and he wants to slow them down

Westopher, didn't you see Trumps speech? As of Monday there is no more racism in America. :fuckyea:
