It's a knee jerk reaction by amateur investors. Nike will be back up in a few weeks. Just like BP, Guess, United Continental. Stochastics for Nike were already showing a downward trajectory anyways and it's already on the way back up. Bad news for a big company is generally a good time to make some money.

A new report from Seton Hall Law School Center for Policy & Research has found that in the majority-white municipality of Bloomfield, New Jersey, nearly 80 percent of traffic tickets are issued to African American and Latino drivers. The report also found that most tickets were issued to non-resident minority drivers passing through town, suggesting a "de facto border patrol" policing policy is in effect. The Bloomfield Police Department — which has begun collecting data on the race of drivers in traffic stops as of January 2016 — rejects the report's findings. VICE News reports on Seton Hall's methodology and on the experience of minority drivers in Bloomfield. Other studies also found similar results including:

-More whites and Hispanics die from police homicides than blacks

-Black and Hispanic police officers are more likely to fire a gun at blacks than white officers.

Blacks are more likely to kill cops than be killed by cops.

the irony never fails with you

how about you post some up yourself and do some due diligence when you're about to post a VICE piece?

it's not exactly the nicest of neighbourhoods and Latinos and Blacks are basically the majority (if not already since the Census from 8 years ago)

A private Christian college in Missouri said it would “choose its country over company” and remove all athletic uniforms bought from Nike or those that contain the Nike logo, KMBC reported.

“In their new ad campaign, we believe Nike executives are promoting an attitude of division and disrespect toward America," College of the Ozarks President Jerry C. Davis said in a statement. "If Nike is ashamed of America, we are ashamed of them.

“We also believe that those who know what sacrifice is all about are more likely to be wearing a military uniform than an athletic uniform."

68style 09-07-2018 07:13 AM

Hahaha Christian college in Missouri... oh wait, here's a little snippet about this amazingly principled college and current President:
Quote:

In the 2003–2004 semesters a professor revealed that one of the college's deans, Larry Cockrum, had received his Ph.D. from Crescent City Christian College, a fraudulent college ("diploma mill") run out of a coach's basement.[17] The professor who brought this information to light was suspended for the 2004 semester, and his contract was not to be renewed for the fall semester.[18] The college's president, Jerry C. Davis, defended the dean with the fraudulent degree, while terminating the professor.[19] Cockrum has been appointed to a new position as president of The University of the Cumberlands.[20]
Traded a jersey for a uniform like Pat Tillman? He quit the NFL, proudly, and his country killed him and then faked the circumstances of his death to turn him into a propaganda piece! USA military ventures are financially motivated and have been for a number of years... those guys and girls by and large just get used as fodder for big business nowadays.

What an incredible and powerful marketing department the military in the USA has though... I mean it really and truly is impressive how they recruit down there. Directing career advice to areas with the lowest prospects for employment, someone in uniform singing an anthem at every sports game or flying a jet over or teams wearing camo jerseys... brings a tear to your eye................... until you remember it's all for oil/Lockheed/individual political gain.

it's easy for canadians to thumb their nose at the us military industrial complex, spend as little as we do, when we're protected by that very same apparatus.
i guess you could call that irony.

is that power intermittently abused? tbh, i'd expect nothing less.
but i still can't think of another country on the planet that i'd trust more with that power.

and nike's no different. they wouldn't hitch their wagon to a manufactured and unsubstantiated racial divide unless it were profitable.
gas, grass, or ass...

The US military is a joke. The helmet for the new F35 cost 400K and uses parts from 46 different states. The parts are made in 46 different states so all the grease ball politicians can claim they are bringing jobs to there state.

Also when is the last time the US has actually one a war?

Bahahahaha, what stats are you looking at there? Please post them. If you are simply looking at the aggregate of shootings, that is totally ignorant, because blacks incorporate a much smaller portion of the population, so of course more whites will be shot in general, as there's more of a population of them.

You should be looking at shootings and arrests per capita, which it sounds like you are not.

The US has lost battles, sure. But they won the most lengthy, most lucrative, and probably most influential war in recent history.
the cold war.
Everything else could just be thought of as collateral damage.

the average school system in the US is comparable to our's

https://globalnews.ca/news/2944919/h...her-countries/

sure you'll have pockets that are in dire situations with a lack of funding, and you'll get some that'll have a greater focus on creationism than science...but it's not trailing too far behind our's

if they don't have the foundation in primary/secondary school, it's not likely for the US to have a fair number of top schools for universities

I wouldn't say Russia is as strong as ever. As a matter of fact, this couldn't be further from the truth because Russia is very much in a rapid state of decline.

Putin remains strongly in control -- perhaps in greater control than any of the recent Russian / Soviet leader has ever been. But the country itself is disastrous in numerous other ways. Economically it is in a dire state because the oil money hasn't been flowing with low crude prices. Its population has been dropping since the 90's, although it seems to have leveled off in recent years. Life expectancy among men is dropping big time though -- the figure is ~66 for Russian men, compared to almost 79 for Canadian men. Many young and talented folks are fleeing the country to seek better lives elsewhere.

As a great disruptor of world order, Russia is certainly excelling at that. But beyond that, I'm not sure if they have to capacity for it.

Nlkko 09-09-2018 04:28 PM

Russia is weak af economically. Total trash economy, full of corruption.

Well it looks like Nikes favorability ratings are in.
https://hotair.com/archives/2018/09/...nick-campaign/

Quote:

Nike won’t sacrifice everything over this, but they’re gonna sacrifice something. Per Morning Consult, “Before the announcement, Nike had a net +69 favorable impression among consumers, it has now declined 34 points to +35 favorable.” Cut in half.

Down in every single group, including blacks and the youngest adults, and now net negative among Republicans. They went from 75 points above water in net favorability to GOPers to underwater overnight. Gadzooks. They’re down much less among Nike customers, which in the end is the only group Nike really cares about, but they’re down even among that bloc. “Okay,” you might say, “but holding a dimmer view of the company itself doesn’t necessarily mean people will be less likely to fork over their cash.” True, but the two are linked to some extent, of course. Morning Consult also polled people on whether they’re still “absolutely certain” or “very likely” to buy Nike products. Results: They’re down in every group there too, from 49 percent to 39 among all adults and from 80 percent to 72 among Nike customers specifically. (They went from 51 percent to 28 percent among Republicans. Yeeeeeesh.)

The chief criticism of this post yesterday noting that recent Nike customers view Kaepernick positively by a rate of two to one was that alienating a third of your customers is … not good. Unless the people who like the ad campaign are willing to offset lost sales by buying *more* products, the company’s destined to lose business. Now here comes Morning Consult to suggest that it’s worse than that for Nike. Contra yesterday’s numbers, they’ve seen both their popularity and their customer’s base willingness to buy shoes decline in every single demographic.
But this comment just made my day
