Doesn't even need to be a big Congressional loss, just need to distract him with some other shiny toy for him to fixate on. China? Ukraine? DEI shit? He seems to be the type to shift focus on things that gets the most sound bites. |
All this boycotting US stuff goes down a rabbit hole lol. What good is taking American alcohol off the shelves that’s already imported going to do? Meanwhile everyone working drives a Tesla/American car to work/liquor store or uses an iPhone/Google to check inventory levels of the store lol. SMH it’s all hypocritical. Yes we’ll show them! I’m not a pro Trump guy, just trying to use logic. |
Don't let perfection get in the way of progress. We can return a lot of the inventory, and you can just not buy your next 'x' from the US. My big worry (tin foil hat on) is that this is a smoke screen for what ever is going on with Musk. The CDC is having thousands of papers taken down, USaid is getting shut down (richest guy in the world says no to helping the poor...), I heard there was issue with US Census data recently, Musk has all sorts of data on from the US federal payment system, he's fucking with the IRS and how people can report there. Probably quite a lot more we don't see yet. Is he setting himself up as ruler after the cheeto shrivels up and dies? I am seriously worried for the American public right now. Am I just getting carried away? Probably. I hope so. |

Why start working out if you're already fat? We've already done it so why change? It's such a nonsensical argument. It's not logic. |

100 percent. Musk is very bad news for the American people. Why does this employee get "special status" and get such high security clearance to so many US government departments? Why does he have access to so much information about Americans? Musk even knows where money is going and where payments are going, out of the US Treasury Department. Where are the rules to ensure protection of private information? Information security. The dude is breaking rules every day. What sinister plans does he have? My gut feeling is that Musk's plans are much more than improving "government efficiency". https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/04/polit...aos/index.html |

Either way, Trump has done some real damage to Canadian / American relations with this stunt. Small examples are the booing of the national anthem, and a friend of mine at NASA who was approached and berated in Houston for wearing a shirt that had both flags on it. Sad. |
I think all the boycott US products talk, plus the act of actually taking US products off our shelves sent a loud and clear message to the front line US businesses and state gov that we really meant business this time, and that we weren't easily going to back down. Those in the US who have something to lose from a prolonged tariff war realized this, and they went to lobby the respective gov bodies to get the message across to Trump. Quote:

Decent read in Maclean's about the prospects for the American annexation of Canada and reminder that annexation has been an American objective even before Canada became a country: https://macleans.ca/society/canada-51st-state-america/ A podcast from the NY Times with Steve Bannon. Lots of insight into the struggles within the inner circle of the administration: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/31/o...-populism.html |
America first = Ethnically cleanse the Gaza strip apparently. https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...netanyahu-gaza Quote:

^wow. trump's such a fucking piece of shit. These guys have fought and died for that strip of land for decades and he comes in and decides to align with the jews and cleanse the entire strip?!??!?!? How much do you wanna bet there's gonna be some nutjob arab guy whos gonna try and off him now. |
There's enough far right MAGA supporters who hate Jews more than Muslims hate Jews. This will be interesting. |
MAGA hates Jews but loves zionists. It's the most incredible form of mental gymnastics. Or maybe it's not. "I hate Jews unless they are killing brown people" seems like the easiest way for them to get there. |

First he unites Canada, now he unites MAGA and Muslims. |
Remember how many libtards refused to vote Dem because of their lack of support for Gaza So they let Trump win and now he's going to finish it off and give the land to Israel LUL |
Somebody unban CharlesInCharge and let him loose into Fight Club |

The Democrats lost Michigan because the Arab vote in Dearborn voted for Trump thinking he would save the Palestinians. |

Here's another one: Venezuelans fight back against TPS termination, battling for right to stay in the U.S. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/loc...#storylink=cpy The vice mayor, who's Venezuelan herself, has pictures of Trump plastered all over her IG profile but was crying and begging the President not to deport these people. Imagine getting protection and then voting for the party that openly said they were going to mass deport Latinos. |

I’m just saying it’s hypocritical to boycott the US when so much of our daily routine is revolved around their products/services. If you boycott US products, boycott everything not just things you choose to lol. It’s like those religious folks that say they’re religious and get run through by a train. Ya we can cut out US cold turkey, but to what extent? Lol it’s a just a rabbit hole. This forum is probably hosted by a US company. There’s only so many things we can cut out. The US doesn’t care if we don’t buy from them. Even though I agree we should support local Canadian corporations, the regular consumer looks at price and doesn’t care about where things are made. |
