This is better than before but, to be fair, not all billionaires are horrible people. Google estimates there are about 2800 billionaires in the world and if I scan Wikipedia's top 10 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wo...s_Billionaires) most are not bad people. I dare say that of the top 10, 6-7 of them have done more good than harm - Ballmer, Gates, Buffett for sure are positive, Bezos, Ellison, Page are debatable with Musk and Zuck the only clear evil ones. I don't know about Arnault (LVMH) and Ambani.

It only takes a few billionaires to be truly evil though to do some real damage to the world.

Now if billionaires need to fear for their lives in the same way that many of the poor and working class do then I'm sorta ok with that. Their kids go to private schools with little risk of a mass shooting. They never live with any doubt that a single medical incident could bankrupt them etc.

As the Telegraph writes, the plan delivered to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week would "amount to the US economic colonization of Ukraine, in legal perpetuity" and also "implies a burden of reparations that cannot possibly be achieved."

In sum the plan would guarantee the United States half of the revenues generated by the extraction of resources in Ukraine going forward, as well as half of revenues generated by "all new licenses issued to third parties" in the country.

Some of the latest employees on the chopping block at tech billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency task force are Food and Drug Administration staff who oversee regulation of one of Musk's companies, Reuters reported Monday evening.

I personally think we're at the point of no return with Trump, meaning there's nothing we can do or say to prevent him from escalating and annexing Canada (if he wants to). He's literally a madman surrounded by yes-men and yes-women. There's no stopping him from using military force to annex us. That's what makes all this scary as fuck.

The only thing we can do in the near term is strengthen our ties with Europe and NATO because even Europe is starting to wake up to the real possibility that the US is no longer an ally and will hand Ukraine to Russia, allowing Russian aggression to continue. I feel like N.American news media didn't really report this all that much (if at all), but JD Vance's recent "New sheriff in town" lecture to European leaders at the Munich Security Conference really didn't go down well with European leaders. And apparently, it has been confirmed that Vance even met up with the AfD -- the German far right party -- leader to discuss "matters".

So you guys are absolutely right on this -- even if Trump were to somehow drop dead all of a sudden, the world would not find itself out of the current chaos bcos Vance is every bit as much of a nutjob as Trump is.

The Americans are good at winning battles, but they've lost most wars since WWII.

If they were to annex Canada by force, the world as we know it would be finished. It would be a completely unprovoked attack on a like-minded country where the majority of people are white-skinned people. China invades Taiwan. Russia invades Eastern Europe and Israel will be in an all out war against the Arab world and Iran. India and Pakistan will go to war. A nuclear holocaust would surely follow because there would be no guardrails.

Elon uses a tactic with everything he does that is common in the tech industry and Silicon Valley in general... he used it at Twitter and he's using it now... it's called zero sum... anytime they take over any business, they fire everyone and stop everything, assess what they think is important and then hire back. You can google about it, it's great for shareholders and looks amazing on a balance sheet in the short term as the people hired back do 10x as much work as before.

Unfortunately for him the government is not a business. Also unfortunately for him he's not very good at it.
