The latest news about Cheeto's tariffs is that he will make an announcement this afternoon about tariff exemptions for the auto industry.

The dumbass finally realized that his 25 percent tariffs on Canada would mean that auto plants in Canada and the U.S. would close within a week.

His IQ is high enough to realize that massive job losses would be bad news for him.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in an interview on Bloomberg TV Wednesday morning that he expects Trump will make an announcement regarding the tariffs on Canada and Mexico this afternoon.

Lutnick suggested the tariffs will remain at 25 per cent but said some categories of goods might be exempted, including the auto sector.

Dumbass level IQ is about right ... The trickle down effects of his economic policies is creating lots of unemployment in the government sector, now industries. Who the hell is in his inner circle of influence and policy making? It seems like in his 1st presidency, there were at least some common sense people holding him back.

EvoFire 03-05-2025 08:48 AM

I feel like this is typically the case with the states though. The first term the president usually treads water a little, a bit more trepidation so they would still get elected for the second term. They can't get a third term so they go batshit insane in the second term, and I think that's what we are seeing here with Trump.

I was happy that Biden won and some common sense prevailed, but in hindsight it might have been better to just let Trump have his two terms through covid and just get the whole fucking thing over with.

6793026 03-05-2025 09:09 AM

Tariffs would only affect Trump if his circle of friends are affected.

Unless we target _____ industry; factories are affected, workers laid off, then it'll work as people riot. He won't give a rats ass if beans are at 2000% tariff.

In this order
1) Teachers 3M + members.
2) Health care 1.9 M
3) Federal / city
4) truck drivers
5) Retail
6) Auto workers (1M members)

spoon.ek9 03-05-2025 09:36 AM

This is exactly why our tariff response is surgically targeted at hitting red states the hardest instead of the blanket tariff orange man has put on all Canadian goods.

So a 1 month tariff exemption for only the Detroit 3 is Trump's version of meeting Canada "somewhere in the middle" in this trade war.

Toyota and Honda also have manufacturing plants in both Canada (mostly Ontario) as well as the US. I dunno how much cross border integration they have in their manufacturing process, but they employ American labour, and contribute to the US auto manufacturing sector as well. And I'm reasonably sure that at least some of the Canadian-made Toyotas and Hondas are sold in the US too.

So none of those auto manufacturing jobs matter? And those workers are not American enough to deserve the same tariff break that their Detroit 3 counterparts are able to get?

Does Chief Idiot 47 understand that the integrated auto manufacturing sector cannot be relocated to the US in a month? Even 4 years is probably not enough, and the relocated factories won't be the same as the already existing running sytem either, not to mention the relocation costs that are involved.

whitev70r 03-05-2025 10:59 AM

^ yah, he should have said, all cars made in NA & Mexico will get 30 day reprieve but he must be so dumb that he thinks Americans only work in Ford, GM, and Chrysler. And Japanese people work at Honda & Toyota.

Captain Bone Spurs is not a fan of the American military veterans or the department of veteran affairs. 70,000 jobs could be terminated.

Trump thread 2.0

Talk about nature imitating the trade war between Canada and Trump.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamil...rawl-1.7473477

A Canada goose won a 20 minute showdown with a bald eagle. Eagle just left a sick goose alone after the goose stood its ground haha.

A bald eagle may have thought it spotted an easy lunch in a Canada goose sitting on an icy bay in Burlington, Ont., but according to Mervyn Sequeira — who watched and photographed a 20-minute battle between the two birds — the goose held its own.

During his weekly Sunday morning family hike at the LaSalle Marina, Sequeira and his family witnessed a rare event — a fight between the national bird of the U.S. and the iconic Canadian animal.

"We were there, and we saw this bald eagle coming in and going in to attack a Canada goose that was on the ice," the 74-year-old told CBC Hamilton

Sequeira is a retired airline captain who has been photographing Canadian wildlife since he arrived to Canada from Goa, India, 30 years ago. He captured the eagle-goose battle with his camera on Feb. 23.

The bald eagle made "several attempts" to attack the goose, Sequeira said.

"When we thought that it was really over for the goose, strangely, the bald eagle just gave up and left," said Sequeira, who's from Oakville, Ont.

"The goose was spared that day."

'This is how nature works'
Sequeira said while he doesn't like getting into politics, he found the encounter "very symbolic."

"I only posted [the pictures to social media] in terms of what happened, not putting a political spin on it. However, there were lots of people who looked at it in the political context," he said.

Sequeira said, from his perspective, "that is how nature works."

"But we're living in a slightly polarized world just now, so some people looked at it differently."

It's not the first time. Those "suckers and losers", as he calls them, are considered DEI hires.

LOL; all his friends called and said WTF

President Donald Trump agreed to delay tariffs for one month on some vehicles built in North America after a call with the CEOs of General Motors (GM.N), opens new tab and Ford (F.N), opens new tab and the chair of Stellantis, the White House said Wednesday.

Last time he just wanted the title and fucked off playing golf most of the time

This time he is under the influence of the stupidest, most wicked people in America who gave him a guide book on how to fuck up the country.

People saw this coming, but I think a lot thought it was so outlandish, there was no way he would be able to go through with it without checks and balances. Had they believed it, maybe more average citizens would have gone to vote. Now they're paying the price

The project calls for merit-based federal civil service workers to be replaced by people loyal to Trump, to take partisan control of key government agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Commerce (DOC), and Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Other agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Education (ED), will be dismantled or abolished.

The president will then be free to implement Project 25's agenda, including reducing taxes on corporations and capital gains, instituting a flat income tax on individuals, cutting Medicare and Medicaid, and reversing President Joe Biden's policies.

Project 25 calls for reducing environmental regulations to favor fossil fuels and proposes making the National Institutes of Health (NIH) less independent and defunding its stem cell research. It proposes criminalizing pornography, removing legal protections against anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination, and ending diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs while having the DOJ prosecute anti-white racism instead.

The project recommends the arrest, detention, and mass deportation of illegal immigrants, and deploying the military for domestic law enforcement. The plan also proposes enacting laws supported by the Christian right, such as criminalizing those who send and receive abortion and birth control medications and eliminating coverage of emergency contraception.
Does a lot of that sound familiar? Do you think shit is bad now? He's just getting started. If you want to know how bad things WILL get, go read it. It's "How to turn America into a Christofascist state for dummies" and he's following it word for word. And on top of that he has added Elon Musk.

Off topic. During the summer I was riding through Central Park in Burnaby, as I rounded the pond near the putting range, lots of rustling happened in a tree near the path and something was falling through. Suddenly a bald eagle fell through and landed under the tree. Read, it FELL through the tree and on to the ground, not landed. As I got a little closer to take a look it got up. It looked dazed and a little roughed up, but I wasn't about to fuck around with it seeing the beak and talons up close.

Moral of the story? There isn't one I guess, but bald eagles can be quite derp :drunk:

A followup on my Project 2025 post only a few hours later, this one regarding the reversal of Biden's policies, but also pretty obviously part of embarrassing himself in front of the world with his attempt to big time Zelenskyy.

I told you it would get worse. It will every day

Trump plans to revoke legal status of Ukrainians who fled to US

Quote:

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration is planning to revoke temporary legal status for some 240,000 Ukrainians who fled the conflict with Russia, a senior Trump official and three sources familiar with the matter said, potentially putting them on a fast-track to deportation.

The move, expected as soon as April, would be a stunning reversal of the welcome Ukrainians received under President Joe Biden's administration.
Remember, military law enforcement is part of the plan. So if people are going to protest they better get out there now.

No exemptions from tax/duty under 24 hours. That's always been the case. You usually didn't get pulled in because it was a pain in the ass for the paperwork involved as you had to seperate out the exempt goods for duty.

A lot of FAFO going around.
