Trump reverses most tariffs in Canada until April 2nd: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/03...smid=url-share

These tariff threats and pauses are doing nothing to solve this trade dispute that Cheeto started.

Many people know that these tariffs are NOT about fentanyl and border issues.

Turd told reporters and probably told Cheeto that less than 1 percent of fentanyl that goes into the U.S. is through Canada.

If Cheeto wants to renegotiate the USMCA free trade agreement, then just say it to the media and to our government officials.

Enough with the smoke screens with this fentanyl bullshit!

If this is Cheeto's way of trying to renegotiate the free trade agreement, this dude is a horrible negotiator. LUL

I was originally going to abstain from voting in the next federal election because i disliked both sides, but after seeing how much worse someone can make a country in mere weeks, i think i will have to vote liberal again. Honda kept saying that anything is better than liberals or at least worth a shot to try the other side. I strongly disagree with that sentiment more than ever after watching what is happening to the USA lately. Things can get waaaay way worse.

This flip-flopping on tariffs is such a waste of time...

My thoughts here to a T.

The longer this drags on, the less credibility Trump has with this.

Rumour has it that BMW Canada will be halting SUV imports from Spartanburg and instead will be replacing those imports from South Africa and Thailand. Some G01 and G20 was already coming from South Africa before. It won't put a dent in Spartanburg production as Canada buys so few cars (USA buys more X5 in a month than we do here in a year), but it's interesting that private corporations are responding already with the flip flopping.

I thought I read that Nissan and Honda were shutting down plants in the US as a result

Apparently there were social media rumours floating around that Toyota and Honda were planning to shut down their US factories bcos of the 25% tariff on materials:

Quote:

“Honda and Toyota are preparing to execute plans to shut down assembly lines in the US because they are not willing to pay a 25% premium on materials. Tens of thousands of workers in plants in Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi and Georgia will be sent home without pay. The effect on those workers and the communities they shop in will make the price of eggs seem completely insignificant.”
But both Toyota and Honda have come out to say such claims were false.

On the other hand, C&D has confirmed that because of the looming US tariffs, they will not be building the Civic hybrid in Mexico. Instead, it will be built at their US plants. So in this case, the outcome is exactly what Trump wanted.

westopher 03-06-2025 01:28 PM

Boycott civics.

68style 03-06-2025 01:43 PM

Trump and his friends are making an absolute fucking fortune bouncing the stock market up and down I can guarantee you that.

Manic! 03-06-2025 01:53 PM

Just because trump dropped the tariffs for a month does not mean we should. Stores should still stop selling g UD liquor and Canadians should still stop buying US goods and traveling to America.

I wonder if this was actually something they were going to do anyways and they used it as PR with Trump. Apple does this all the time to deal with Trump - they'll announce some big investment in the US like it's some new thing but it's actually a project they had committed to in the past or had already planned.

I would figure Honda's just gonna build a different car in Mexico instead as these changes don't just happen in the span of a few weeks - they take months and months to get everyone aligned.

I listened to it. The chick was smart (on responding in a PR sense).

Reporter "it's 43 lbs, that's less than a luggage" ( i did fact check it was on drug seizure report).

Chick responded (yet never addressed the 43 lbs "President saw 2000% increase.. blah blah blah.. i think it's disrespectful to the families on how their child died esp when mr pres talked to the families.. blah blah blah, so that's the end of that. Period."

thought it was a great PR speech she did; i gotta learn how to dodge questions when I handle being called out when I talk to my team.

I have this idea of getting Canadians to send post cards to people in Alaska, asking them to join Canada.

make usa the 14 province

^ Nice try bro... but there are only 10 provinces and 3 territories.

Gosh I hate that chick. If "cocky" can ever be a word that is used on a chick, she would be that cocky bitch chick.

Her response here is yet another example of why I fxxking hate her guts -- I find it so repulsive when people have the audacity to conceitedly dodge the question and lash back at someone despite having been caught lying, and she was precisely doing just that.

By normal physical standards, she is not a bad looking chick at all. In fact, I'd easily call her a 7 or 8. But the way she acts and carries herself... you just know she is one fxxking arrogant bitch.

lol I didn’t know who 6793026 was talking about but from your reply, I’m pretty sure you’re talking about the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt. She’s 27 and her husband is 59…

It has been interesting watching how many patriots are suddenly appearing out of the blue, but were completely silent when churches burned to the ground, statues were pulled down, and the Canadian government was actively funding art that directly maligned the majority of the country's population...

Not even mentioning yet the fact that we're all supposed to boycott American products now!

Well, I was the biggest hipster in the 2010's and I guess I still am... because I was boycotting American products before it was cool. :neckbeard:

Namely, an American product for an American-made illness, that flowed profits into American pockets, and if you didn't take the product, you were punished by your fellow Canadian citizens! :haha:

Mikoyan 03-06-2025 10:36 PM

You notice the statements about goods that aren't being tarriffed? "All exempt products under CUSMA from Can/Mex won't be tarriffed." It was the most carefully worded statement I've heard from the US so far.

I feel like a US Gov Lawyer pointed out that they'd be violating the CUSMA agreement, and they'd get bent over and fucked hard when Can/Mex take them into any tribunal/world trade court and lose spectacularly. That it would be a slam dunk case for us/mex.

Is there a way to conduct a poll on Revscene?

Personally, I believe Trudeau, Trump, all of these elites are on the same team. The "trade war" is just another exercise to consolidate power and wealth. Never let a crisis go to waste, they say. When the people are in fear, they can be convinced to go along with almost anything.

Not a single politician, oligarch, celebrity, or connected person will have any problems or suffer at all from the "trade war" that has everyone's complete attention now. In fact, like Great68 said, the rich and connected are going to make a KILLING off the stock market and price fluctuations, especially the people connected who are informed with the overall plan, and, just like COVID, it will be the rich gettin' richer, and the lower classes who will be feeling the pain from the staged trade war.

Not a single politician is going to miss a meal or feel any pain from any of this. It is all just theatre to manipulate the masses.

Is it a coincidence that they rolled this dude out, pretty soon after the 4Nations hockey event? Let's not forget how people like Edward Bernays kicked off the field of public relations with staged things like "Torches of Freedom" to make smoking fashionable for women, and now the system has had 100 years to learn how to control the masses... :wiggle:
