We get a decent amount of NZ beef here actually in some smaller grocery stores. Reason being is their worst farms are as good as our higher end (not best, but very good) farms here in terms of how they raise and treat their cattle. They don't operate like the American model of huge feedlot production facilities like we have in Alberta like cargill and shit.

American beef was never really good to begin with.

Does China produce any of it's own beef? Do import beef just come in giant frozen containers? Doesn't sound that fresh.....

That pretty broad though. Some of americas best beef is INSANELY good, but their average to bad stuff is despicable. The cows probably eat the other cows that died of diseases and just rot in the pens.

Drone warfare is the future.

I must have watched 1000+ Russians and Ukrainians blown to bits and bleed out in the most horrific ways possible. Drone warfare has got to be the most terrifying new thing.

I couldn't watch more than a couple, it's terrifying to imagine being in a trench and have some little thing buzzing around that can move faster than you and see you no matter where you are just being hunted like an animal by some faceless little robot you've got no chance against.

The craziest thing about drone warfare is because there is no front lines, it's just going to lead to indiscriminate killing of civilians for made up military targets. We already see it happening to Palestinians, with no consequences for Israel other than powerless entities like the ICC calling Netanyahu a meanie.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I think it depends on who's tasking targets. Drones allow for longer term recon of targets. They can clarify who is where and it's up to the aggressor to decide to drop/launch etc.

It does expand the grey zone, but for somewhere like Gaza the whole place is a grey zone and has been for decades.

The Canada part is bullshit (Canada is irrelevant compared to Brazil not to mention Australia and NZ), but the rest is likely true, or is about to be

Edit: Here it is on Reuters. They licensed 1000 meat plants in the US in 2020 to supply them with $5 billion worth of meat, and that deal is about to end and they are not responding to America about it.

Further down the toilet their economy goes. But thankfully they aren't doing sex changes in prison.

Story about Canadian woman detained by ICE for 10 days.
Why wouldn't she just be sent back to Canada? This sounds like serious malicious intent by ICE. There's nothing stopping this woman from simply buying a ticket to leave the country yet she's put in inhumane conditions and held?
I hope she goes extremely public about how people are being held. Like what kind of third world police state bullshit is going on here?

Alaska's senator wants to stop all cruise ships from coming to B.C. permanently.

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2025/0...-bc-stop-over/

This time, Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan wants to take legal action to prevent cruise ships from stopping at British Columbia ports, permanently.

He says this is in response to Premier David Eby’s recent announcement that commercial trucks travelling through B.C. from Washington and up to Alaska will be forced to pay new fees. That was in response to the ongoing trade war with the White House.

Two can play this game,” he told 650-KENI, a local radio station in Alaska. “So, Canada, you don’t want to mess with Alaska. If you do, we’re going to work hard on having our cruise ships bypass your ports, and that’ll help our economy tremendously.”

“It’ll help our tourism industry tremendously, and it’ll really hurt their tourism. They’re playing a dangerous game here. I hope they back down,” he said.

He went on to say the legislation would “take billions of dollars” of tourism revenue away from western Canadian provinces.

Not just that lady, 2 separate German tourists were held for up to 6 weeks in a detention facility as well:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...m-us-detention

and a British tourist:
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...ays-visa-issue

Again they all had issues with their visa and may have tried to enter to work, but I wouldn't imagine any country in the world would lock you up for weeks.

It's insane. The private Prison-Industrial Complex emboldened by MAGA gone wild.

Whatever you do DO NOT cross the border between Tijuana and San Diego. I did way back in 2010 and the US border guards were literally bewildered as to why a Canadian passport holder was there - they were friendly enough though. I think now they're all hyper fixated on keeping out any more illegal browns they can't see colour anymore.

Lol good luck with that shooting yourself in the foot. They've handicapped themselves with their own Jones Act . Until they repeal that it's gonna be a no go for all Alaska Cruises. Maybe they can depart from Vladivostok instead ...

Sure, we will take the tourism hit, then just don't let trucks through to Alaska. I'm sure they can be self sufficient with produce and such up there.

If their ships aren't coming to our ports then they should take different routes to stay out of our waters. I'm sure people will love seeing nothing for the first half of their site seeing trip.

I even see British and Irish frozen beef, but I don't like the way it tastes.

(local beef is awful)
Irish and British cattle are known to be more grass fed than other beef producing regions, hence why you likely don't like that flavor, or aren't used to it.

This story is a weird one, those ICE agents definitely are putting her through the ripper to send a message, as they could've just denied her entry and turned her around back to Mexico.

From what I've read it sounds like she might've been somewhat at fault on this one as well. It seems like her work visa was denied on entry from whatever port of entry she attempted prior, she then proceeded to attempt to enter through a different port of entry (Mexico/San Diego) expecting a different result.

That's a big no no.
