Welp, the key leadership Democrats caved in today and voted for Trump's funding bill, along with a litany of cuts to public services in yet another massive transfer of wealth. Chuck Schumer did a bait and switch on his comments from days ago of not voting for the bill, and then did so today.

You might be onto something Jason, this whole thing is one big facade, a game that placates to the ruling class, those that fund both parties, under the auspices of "choice".

SkinnyPupp 03-14-2025 03:53 PM

Bernie and AOC are trying to fight it. There needs to be a schism on both sides, leaving the MAGAs and the cowardly old Democrats behind.

Or those two can keep going at it, sending America further down the shitter as people fight about drag queens reading books, dark skinned people getting jobs, and the gays being gay.

Bernie is either in on it, or he's being torpedo'ed from within.

Bro, by the time I can afford to go back to Vancouver for a fried chicken RS meet, we're all going to cheers and laugh about how fake and stupid everything is. All that matter is if your family is safe and your kids have a place in whatever society emerges out of the shit we're about to collectively go through. FeelsBadMan

Carney orders review of F-35 fighter jet purchase from U.S.’s Lockheed Martin

Quote:

Prime Minister Mark Carney has asked for a review of Canada’s plan to purchase a fleet of F-35 fighter jets.

The deal with Lockheed Martin and the U.S. government is for 88 planes at a cost of about US$85 million each.

A spokesperson for Defence Minister Bill Blair said Carney has asked Blair to look into whether the F-35 contract is the best investment for Canada given the “changing environment,” or if there are better options.

“At this time, the contract to purchase the F-35 remains in place, and Canada has made a legal commitment of funds for the first 16 aircraft,” Laurent de Casanove said in a statement to CityNews. “The Prime Minister has also asked the Minister of National Defence to work with CAF/DND to determine if the F-35 contract, as it stands, is the best investment for Canada, and if there are other options that could better meet Canada’s needs.”

On the other hand, given the currently strained relationship with the US, it also feels wrong to keep giving that much money to the US.

I'm 100% sure that you get all of your information about US politics from reddit.

Are you trying to claim that Bernie and AOC are going along with the Democratic Party line right now?

Or are you trying to claim that America isn't currently going down the shitter?

Either way, you need to forget reddit, it doesn't have anything to do with either statement. Don't get yourself caught up in a stupid online culture war.

He's just baiting you like he does with everyone so he can drone on about being in Michigan or murders in Chicago and how the left fucked America blah blah bad actor blah blah paid witnesses blah blah :sleepy:

I think both Bernie and AOC are authentic, but also economically retarded. Neither's idea of economic prosperity is suitable for a society built on hard work leading to reward in my opinion.

I am claiming though that the US is NOT going down the shitter, in fact the opposite is happening. I am more than willing to eat my words and we can revisit my comment in the next 22 months.

But you are right, it would be wise to not get caught up in culture wars.. and I'm not disagreeing with you here when I say that I just wish the people attacking Tesla dealerships and vandalizing their vehicles would be smart to think that way too.

Imagine getting worked up because a focus group wants to encourage diverse participants to apply

Then why didn't they write it:

"We encourage everyone to apply as we seek a dirverse set of voices!"

Rather than pretty much listing every group except, well, you know who. So typical of ultra-woke 2025 Canada

No I don't know who. Which underprivileged group are they leaving out?

Who has been telling you that some groups are underprivileged?

When was the last time you worked a 9-5 job in Canada, lived and socialized with the lower classes?

Are you saying people with disabilities are privileged?

Much like with anything, nuance is thrown away in favour of a gotcha. You know as well as I do, there are "disabled" people, and then there are disabled people.

I'm not trying to "get" you I am trying to make sense of what you are complaining about

Somehow I doubt you see much of this messaging or culture in Hong Kong.

What is wrong with "Everyone is welcome" and encouraging underprivileged or marginalized groups to join as well?
