Vietnam offers to remove all tariffs they have on US goods and the offer is rejected. The US is the mob now - it's extortion - they want Vietnam to either pay them or to buy more US goods (probably the latter).

I think the Aussie accent varies a lot across the regions. Most are pretty pleasant but there's one that I find really grating. Idk where it's actually from though.

Even some American billionaires are starting to turn against Trump and stop supporting Orange Turd:

https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/07/busin...ntl/index.html

Cheeto's buddy Elon had this to say about tariffs on European countries:

Even Elon Musk — the world’s richest man and top Trump acolyte — said Sunday that he hoped for a “zero-tariff situation” between Europe and the US. In an interview with Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini via video link, Musk said he wanted to see an effective “free-trade zone” created between Europe and North America.

Echoing Ackman, Simon MacAdam, deputy chief global economist at consultancy Capital Economics, said businesses were likely to hold off making investments due, in large part, to the “sheer uncertainty” of Trump’s tariff policy.

“If you’re a mid-sized or even a large-cap company, you’re going to be very hesitant about what to do,” he said.

“If those tariffs are going to be negotiated back down again in a few months’ time, then you’d be wasting your time investing potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in new plants… in the US,” he told CNN.

Billionaire investor Bill Ackman, who endorsed Trump’s 2024 presidential bid, warned Sunday that going ahead with the new tariffs was tantamount to launching an “economic nuclear war.

In a post on X, Ackman said “business investment will grind to a halt, (and) consumers will close their wallets” if the new levies do indeed come into force. “We will severely damage our reputation with the rest of the world that will take years and potentially decades to rehabilitate,” he added in the post, which was viewed 10.6 million times.

Unless Trump changes tack, “we are heading for a self-induced, economic nuclear winter, and we should start hunkering down,” the CEO of Pershing Square Capital Management warned.

They don't really have regional accents like we do in N. America. More like class differences. They have what we'd call hick accents like Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter all the way to sounding almost like some posh English fuck (but born and raised in the posh areas of Sydney).

This is probably the biggest one, no one is going to break ground on some new US facility that costs billions just for Trump to change his mind down the road and get rid of the tariffs. He's such a loose cannon no one knows what to do.

100 percent. What company or corporation's CEO and board of directors or a privately held company would even consider building a factory in the U.S. now to avoid tariffs?

President No. 47 has no experience in building factories.

The dumb fuck doesn't realize that there is no incentive for businesses to move their operations into the U.S. to avoid tariffs because the tariffs could be gone in an instant with the way that he makes policy on the fly. He does not understand how much time and money would be needed to make such a big investment of building a factory in the U.S.

People should remember that Cheeto used to own casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey. They all went bankrupt haahah.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/donal...kip=1744043682

This moron does not understand how businesses operate based on his abysmal track record of running many of his businesses.

Like seriously, how the heck do you file bankruptcy for casinos??? People are
bringing money to your business to gamble it away.

At this point, does anyone even trust Elon still?

He wants the US and Europe to become a free trade zone? Including the allowance of talents to freely move between the US and Europe? He has been so deeply involved and front and center with Trump since the election that he is practically Trump's #1 henchman. And now he wants free trade while his boss is slapping tariffs left right and center?

For all I care, Elon can go fxxk himself.

Personally, I would like to see nobody retaliate and just trade with each other minus the USA. That way, we're not starting a trade war and we're just letting the US shoot themselves in the foot. If they don't want to be part of world trade, they can leave.

trump says he will ad another 50% tariff on China if they don't drop there retaliatory tariff. I don't think Xi is going to back down.

Americans are fucked. A lot of businesses rely on Chinese products/machines. Here is a chart comparing the prices of Bambu labs 3D printer in Canada and the US. A lot of print farms use these.

Americans are not happy when they see this.

The problem with countries not enacting retailiatory tariffs is -- US imports into other countries will remain cheap. So people will keep buying those cheap US goods, and that means US won't see drops in their exports, effectively meaning they get off scot free for arbitrarily and unfairly applying tariffs to its trading partner.

To ensure that US will see some pain from imposing the tariffs, countries have to find a means to get people to stop buying US products, and you either do that by banning US products out right, making the importing of US goods illegal. Or you slap a retailiatory tariff on it so that it becomes economically unviable to buy those US goods.

You can't rely on people just not buying US products based on their own free will. As it is now, the US is already shooting themselves in their own feet.

I really wish that countries would boycott the USA from any trade of good and services.

Is it that easy for a foreign company to not trade with the U.S?

Contracts are signed between a foreign company and and American importer/exporter?

I am sure that there would be stiff penalties for a foreign company to back out of a contract with an American company.

Well... when US slaps a big enough tariff on imported goods, it is essentially telling its foreign trading partner to boycott US trade.

I was listening to an interview with a European wine seller (based in Europe) last month (March), and he was saying that the European wine export market could probably survive a 25% US tariff, although sales would obviously drop by a lot. But if it was even "just" a 50% tariff, the whole European wine export market to the US would collaspe. There is zero profit to be made, so they would just stop exporting (to the US).

(And Trump was threatening a 200% tariffs on European wine.)

When stuff gets imported, it is the importing company that bears the responsibility to pay for the tariffs, isn't it? In the case of European wines, it wouldn't be the European vineyard that backing out of the contract with the American company. Instead, it would be the American importing company that doesn't want to honour the contract.

Well.. that already happens in Canada. Almost no one imports European wines outside of Alberta and Quebec because taxes are insane. And that’s all to do with federal and provincial mandates

Anyone who orders wine goes through Alberta, and then typically is still subject to the taxes being brought into BC. Nothing new and it’s been like this for decades, it’s just in the spotlight now because the US does it. We get bent over just as bad here just no one realizes it

Talked to a few people in France and Portugal about importing wine and they both said they’d take a loss if the cost of each bottle was sold for double typical retail.

It’s all about the $$$ not protecting anything domestically. The only vineyards that can pump out enough wine in Canada to even justify these “protections” are owned by American conglomerates

When it comes down to it, people will boycott US goods. China boycotts Apple and Tesla products... well, maybe not Tesla, they just don't buy them because they have a better domestic product but Apple has been boycotted many times and their marketshare in China is dwindling. They didn't even need tariffs on those because they're made in China.

In Canada, we're boycotting American. Only buying American when there's no alternative and we've been doing that since before we retaliated. It'll take time but with participating countries and free trade, cutting out the US can be done.
