Not sure how you can handle living down there El Bastardo
Comfortably
I'm not trying to humblebrag but being able to be comfortable financially after growing up in a trailer on the Island and upgrading to a basement suite in Surrey feels pretty good. Buying my own house felt better than losing my virginity.
This is why we need to press for legislation and policies in our OWN country to allow people our own age and younger to realize the dream of owning our own houses. There is a 600+ page thread on Vancouver's real estate for a reason.
Nobody wants to be told to move to a bumfuck in Manitoba just so they can break the cycle of being a permanent renter. I'm sure the towns are nice but I'll be fucked if I have to live in a place where the only source of entertainment is getting stoned in a gas station parking lot.
But that was MY motivation for staying in a place as hot and as sweaty as Satan's taint. Home of lawnmowers on the freeway and giant spools on your commute. A place covered in refinery grime and without zoning laws so you can pick the kids up from the elementary school after downing a few in the strip club next door. There are beautiful places in Texas but... uh... Houston ain't one of them. But I digress
Texas is fucked (politically) because one party keeps fucking it.
The guy who passed the civil rights legislation that ended the Jim Crow era was from Texas. The first (elected) female governor was elected in Texas. The first Hispanic mayor elected to a major city was in Texas. All of them were Democrats.
The United States has a Republican problem and Texas is so in love with the fucking elephant party that the majority of people can't break free from getting fucked because they like the feel of its big grey dick.

This is my goal. Austin is my favorite Texas city. I've been aggressively looking for jobs even through the COVID crisis.
Its basically California with funnier accents.

No one other than hehe needs to fact check that list to know it’s bullshit, and hehe won’t fact check anything so it’s kind of irrelevant lol.
literally everything the white house spews is bullshit. they lied since the very first day of their administration with their inauguration numbers and have been lying about everything ever since.

Well said, and I agree. The NIMBY stuff is Vancouver is what I personally can't stand. As much as I dislike America politics, in places like Texas, I do admire the ability for people to be able to provide a semblance of family wealth for themselves in the form of housing in the way in which you described.
Our Federal government, and primarily the BC Liberals have sold out our country and province to the real estate industry, and foreign ownership, much to the detriment of Canadians. It's a foul situation in Vancouver, one not based on any true logic. The rampant speculation and money laundering along with systemic corruption by our elected officials is whats put us here. It's very odd to see local Vancouverites so subdued, neutered in our ability to address the problem (ultimately it's far too late at this point).
What do you do for work down there, if you don't mind me asking?

Like on Fox News he had the audacity to say the US death rate for corona virus is among the lowest in the world.

Only the government has the power to use force against individuals.
No company can kidnap you for failing to pay an invoice. The government can and will jail you for failing to pay taxes. This special privilege given to government is the ultimate power in society - the power to implement rules and the ability to use force to maintain them. If you get to the highest levels of government, you can obtain this power.
There is a trade-off between the highest levels of government and the highest levels of companies. CEOs are typically highly educated while government officials are typically lawyers. 1/5 CEOS are psychopaths while 1/100 people are psychopaths. It seems that if you're highly ambitious, inherently manipulative, and mentally sharp you'd probably make a good CEO. These same people are at the highest levels of government. In fact, they're friends. They're made deals to help each other while we pay for it.
The news media, which was the traditional source of information isn't trustworthy because they're politicized. I would argue that they were never trustworthy but I don't think you can deny it today. They focus on events that agree with their narrative and flat out ignore anything that doesn't. There is no objectivity.
The big tech companies have a huge influence on the general public through the use of social media websites. None of them can be trusted for a variety of reasons, namely selling our data. The worst offenders are Google, Facebook, and especially Reddit. Facebook for example is regulated by people so you'll see groups that span the extremes of political ideology. Reddit is regulated by mods so the discussions are completely biased. They make decisions based on ideology, plus they're funded by China.
And it seems like it's getting worse every year. This place is a great microcosm of the general nature of political debate on the news and online. You pick a side and defend it no matter what. You laugh at a meme. You read a headline or if you read more it's to affirm your bias. You mock people instead of arguing your point. Despite all the progress we've made as a species it seems as though we live in a sick society. The alien invasion can't come soon enough. Maybe then we'll get along.
Like on Fox News he had the audacity to say the US death rate for corona virus is among the lowest in the world.
He's trying to spin this as a good thing because it looks better when you talk about percentages rather than the actual number of deaths. Obviously in such an extreme case as the US, it's far more important to point out that 150,000 Americans are dead because of this but that's the kind of thinking that will destroy his hopes for re-election. I hope no one here is stupid enough to fall for this tactic.
What are you going to do if you get sick? I'm guessing you are still a Canadian citizen. Are you collecting cerb?
Canadian citizen for life! Even when I get American citizenship, I won't be giving up Canadian citizenship.
And no, I'm not collecting CERB. That would be wrong on quite a few different levels. People are going to need to eat going forward and I'm not going to put my own ladle in the soup.

There is a lot of that up in the north. Connecticut comes to mind. They won't tackle serious social issues and instead push people needing mental health treatment or the homeless into different cities.

Even though it began long before Christy Clark, she was openly complicit in this shit IMO. I feel it began with Mike Harcourt in the 90s.
People go crazy when I tell them about property rates back home. I show them that old website https://www.crackshackormansion.com/ and then pull up a few property listings to show them that prices have only gone up.

I work in biomed. Fixing implantable devices like pacemakers and the such. In school now to make a career change though, something in finance. It'll probably be a leap to Big Oil

And child support, and taking your kids to a school out of your district, and voting outside of your district, and whatever the hell they want.

If you guys don't see the sarcasm in it, I've got nothing to say.
If you go back the thread, many lefties here trash on Trump with every lil shit... often taking things out of context. Everyone seems to be cool with that.
That's something I found online doing the same thing about Biden's stuff and somehow it's my problem?
See the hypocrisy in some people here? They continue to talk about something... be it racism, social issue...etc etc... and yet when it works against them, suddenly it's bullshit... where's the fucking logic in that? It's double standard at best, hypocrite at worst.

LOL you sound like the type of guy who tells his wife its her fault when she catches him cheating
Let me guess, you went and googled "republican more likely to cheat" and came back with that link? Because that's one of the first links showing up on Google.
Please stop quoting things that you find on the internet. That's the sarcastic part I was putting. Every new post on lefties, whether it's this thread or the GF one, everyday one finds a new source to construct their narrative and build upon it, whether it's the truth or not it doesn't matter, as long as it fits my narrative.
Data are easily manipulative and you can find things that support either points.
Just take a personal responsibility and shape your view on responsibility accordingly.
I'm now conservative leaning. I've never had an affair and never plan to. There is line you can't cross in marriage, in life, in many different roles one'd have to take in life.
Stop RELYING on what other people say just so that you can construct a narrative. Just BE responsible to YOURSELF. You can lie to everyone, but you can't lie to yourself.
you are the one who made the claim and brought absolutely nothing to support it.
also your source is self reported, where people aren't as likely to be honest about their behavior. the article even admits that.
my source is a lot more telling.. people who register for an affair website that happen to put their political leanings on their profiles.
I always thought cheating on wife is a lefty thing?
After all, it’s “liberal” right? Everyone should be free to choose what they actually want instead of some old school until death do us part thing.
Holy fuck, do you have friends man? Do you go out? You have the mindset of some sheltered guy who lived in his folk's basement, unexposed to the world.
I've never heard anyone allege that cheating is a "lefty" thing
Your talking points are so lame, obtuse, and esoteric, I can't imagine anyone ever wanting to actually be around you.
You're like that guy someone brings out to a gathering that everyone avoids.
