Out of curiosity and having always wanted to go visit Australia/NZ (plane tickets are too expensive for my preference lol), I looked up the taxation laws around this. Looks pretty similar to Canada, flipping houses = captial gains, business taxation is shockingly 30%, 25% for SMEs.
I don’t know about that, but I met with this hot ass realtor chick (wife angry) and she told me that foreigners are only allowed to purchase new property or new development/presale. Cannot buy existing title or land that has an Aussie on it.
But that’s okay for me because I just want to buy 3-4 new condos and rent them out for income while living in the suburbs of Melbourne.
Not a bad place this Australia

I was smitten with Melbourne when I first visited a couple years ago - enough to imagine moving there if I ever have the means to do so (which I don't )
Moving to AUS gives you access to RHD cars - stuff like i30N or Land Cruiser 300s would be fun on those roads.

I am curious now. Was the realtor a hot ass angry looking wife, or was your wife just angry?
whitec70r/whiteAudiA3 is on to something. What if this were the equivalent of Ferrari girl trying to stuff your face with her Australian bao yuu and supreme sauce?

I dunno I heard Australia is kinda racist to China man mate. And it sounds like they will throw in more restrictive measures like here, taxes, and have you seen Australia snakes, spiders and other bugs
This is where the Alfa Romeo biscione (snake) eats Badhobz alive.

My friend and his wife did a working holiday in Australia and they loved it there. Both Chinese, both had no issues with anyone being racist towards them. They're both fluent in English too, so I'm sure that helped.
Badhobz doesn't speak English, so that's a big problem to start.

So does Trump cave this week because of the markets and come up with some BS about pausing tariffs because “every leader is making deals with him”? At some point, his major donors who are losing millions, possibly billions are going to have to step in.
Only one man can save us, only one man is powerful enough...
It's gonna be a bloodbath tomorrow in the markets - Nikkei down 8%, HK down 10%. I said in the stock market thread I thought we're headed for 2008 again and this actually looks like it'll be worse than that - really wish I followed Buffett's moves to build up my cash pile (he built up a $350b pile of cash in the past year by exiting Apple, BofA etc).

I think this goes a little longer ... the most illegal Shorting of stocks ever for Trump and his oligarchs that no regulator can enforce. I don't even know if they had to short it ... they just need to have cash to buy in the next little while, then he removes the tariffs and things begins to head back up to where they were.

I can’t stand their bloody accents though. All this yehhhh yehhhh naaahhhhh
If I hear one more yehhhh nahhhh I’m going to lose it and fuck up a chazzwasser or punch a wallaby in the face
What do you mean you can't stand their accent?
I was at a conference last month, and the MC girl grew up in Australia, so she definitely spoke with an Aussie accent. It was quite pleasant to listen to!
Then again, I think she has also been living in Canada for quite some time, so she probably picked up enough Canadian / American accent to add into the mix, so it isn't purely Australian.

This will happen for sure. Bet all the hedge funds will load up on calls soon for a fat pay day

This was Trump's reply on Apr 05, 2025, 5:34 AM (EST? PST?).
China has been hit much harder than the USA, not even close. They, and many other nations, have treated us unsustainably badly. We have been the dumb and helpless “whipping post,” but not any longer. We are bringing back jobs and businesses like never before. Already, more than FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS OF INVESTMENT, and rising fast! THIS IS AN ECONOMIC REVOLUTION, AND WE WILL WIN. HANG TOUGH, it won’t be easy, but the end result will be historic. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!
The 73k+ likes makes me wanna puke.
So he was still going in hard to stand behind his tariffs as of yesterday. With him being so gung-ho on this, it's gonna be really difficult for him to back down on tariffs bcos doing so would mean he admits defeat.
If anything, I see there being a higher chance for us and Mexico to come out of this tariff BS relatively less injured than other countries through a re-negotiated USMCA. But even that isn't tied to any specific dates, other than that it would probably be an item on the agenda when we have a new PM.
