Ring of honour! It's too bad he didn't really end his career on his own terms... always feel for the guys that go out like that.
To put it in perspective, there were only 23 players and 1 goalie who played at least 41 NHL games last year that were born in 1981 or older and only 2 of those players were undrafted (Joel Ward being the other).
Of those 24 guys, only 11 are currently under contract for next season, 6 are currently unsigned, and 7 have retired.
The fact that he even played to that age speaks volumes about Burrows' commitment and compete levels.
Also adds to the insanity of signing a career 4th liner (Beagle) to a 4-year, multi-million dollar contract that takes him to Burrows' current age.

I feel even worse for Iginla. Was always one of the best players in the league during most of his playing career and an all around class act. I'll never forget the last game when Linden retired, and he told all the Flames players to come back out from the dressing room so they could shake his hand.
Now he's just sitting at home contemplating whether to retire or not, but he still wants one more shot at the cup.
Just got goosebumps watching that game 7 clip. I still feel if Kesler or Samuelsson was 100% healthy that cup could've been ours. Coulda, shoulda woulda I guess
I remember game 7 of the Chicago series when I lived in Melbourne Australia for a few years. I was working at a restaurant that day, and I remember telling my boss I NEEDED to watch the game 7 Nucks vs. Hawks. I was supposed to work as I usually did there, 8am - 11pm or so. And the game was on at 10am (somewhere around there) Melbourne time. He had Fox SportsNet that had the game on tv at his home which was close to the restaurant. He let me go to his place to watch the game. I told him, if we loose the game you won't see me for the rest of the day. If we win, i'll be the happiest guy in the world and come back to work after lunch and work until 11pm or so. So I got to home to his place to watch the game, all alone We all know how the game goes. Dragon killer! I was jumping around so super excited, all alone! LOL No one to celebrate, and walking back to work jumping around so happy. No one else knew anything about the hockey game, I was happy and I had to work until 11pm at the restaurant. It was a good day, memories forever.
Thanks for the memories Burr, congrats on retirement!
Cool story bro.

I was still working at St Paul's at the time. I'm pretty sure I was at work during the game. Luckily, I had time to stream the game while at work. A few of us in the department were hardcore Canucks fans (in different areas). When Burrows scored you could hear all of us simultaneously cheer crazy loud. It was awesome and there will never be a day where that goal doesn't give me chills. The emotion of that moment will live in my mind forever.
NHL schedule is out. Leafs come to Vancouver March 6th, Wednesday 6pm start. Someone decided the bigger draw on a Saturday would be the Oilers and Leafs - yawn. I'll be less inclined to buy a ticket for a weekday game. Those who complained about having to start home games against the Leafs at 4pm, careful what you wish for.

I'm totally fine with it, sounds great to me I hated knowing we were bowing down to those pricks in Toronto.
You can't have real fun at a 4pm hockey game anyway, when it's over, it's like coming out of a movie in the middle of the damn day when the sun's still out, everyone's all blind and awkward and doesn't know what to do... too early to embrace any real anarchy, too late to go home and have a nap and change.
Yah a bit much... although they have half their marketing campaign with his face and identity tied to it so I can get why they want him around. I don't know that he's going to repeat his performance this coming year... he really tailed off in the finals there too.
At 2:50 pm, HPS recovered the body of former @NHL player Ray Emery, 35. Emery was reported missing just after 6:00 am in #HamOnt harbour. His body was recovered in close proximity to where he was last seen. Family has been notified. Cause of death to be confirmed pending a PM.
