It's just going to be yet another fail move by a GM in Edmonton... don't act surprised lol
I'm sure an arrangement like that will come to fruition for Coach Q... but I doubt he wanted to go anywhere near that tire fire in Edmonton. Who would want to live in that city AND coach such a shit team with shit management? He can go pretty much anywhere... and under better circumstances.
forgot to check in the other night. i was at the game on monday. seeing it in person was fun despite the loss. can't really complain, got to see three goals including another beauty slapper by Petey. Hutton had a real strong game and Gagner also made some nice plays in the offensive zone.
Our team defense right now is pretty tragic. We spent probably 90% of the first period in our own end. I couldn't believe the massive difference in shots after just one period..
I don't know why Markstrom has to have one seriously terrible play every game. Hopefully tonight is a different story. Need Nilsson to come back. Bachman is not ready (or capable?) to play at NHL level.
To think we rode Lu out of town when he still could have been our starter at this point lol.. and he was ready to stay ecen! Until torts and the winter classic disaster :/

Lu is a regular season goalie, we don't really need to get into the playoffs with this group... 2011 wasn't his only post-season disaster (San Jose sh!tgate series comes to mind... he was too busy trying to get the refs to call a penalty on whoever tripped Hansen to stop the puck going in for the series ending goal)

That ruined me as a fan... To be honest, don't think I've been the same Canuck fan ever since (94 when I started)....

Went back to take a look and damn, 12 seasons and made it to the playoffs once. I don't know whether to laugh, feel sorry for them or what but that's pretty bad.

It can be like player's contract where new team pays 1/2, Chicago pays 1/2 or any other agreed upon terms. If you're Chicago, why wouldn't you give permission? Would you rather pay $6M to have him do nothing or $3M and have him coach another team. Unless, of course, Q rather be a house husband. From what I can gather, these type A people would rather work. Hell, if I was Chiarelli, I'd consider AV over Hitch. Hitch is a 1 year wonder, at best. He might pull a rabbit out of his hat one more time and get them to the 8th spot, fool mgmt into giving him a renewal, then he'll get fired again.
AV is in the same boat as Q. Why would you risk your sweet salary for an interim position. Both Willie and Hitch are signed only through the rest of the current year. AV and Q are getting paid $5-6M a year right now to take a break from hockey and wait for a better situation to present itself. That being said if STL offered either of them term and money, I'm sure they can be persuaded.

You wouldn't risk your sweet salary for the remainder of your contract. It's just a matter of how new team that wants to hire you and the team that fired you agree to make up the coach's salary. If you sit on a beach to wait out the contract to expire, you'd still have to look for a job when that contract finishes ... so what's the diff?
So let's say AV has 2 yrs left at $4m/yr. NY pays $1.5, Oilers pay $2.5 for the remainder of the contract. What are you risking?
Wait for a better opportunity? I know Oilers is the sh*tz but an opportunity to coach McDavid ... turn down? What's a better opportunity? I know like last year Washington Capitals, SC winner, does not renew coach ... like that happens every year.
