I want to watch good hockey. I’ve had to sit through 3.5 years of garbage hockey in the past 4.5 years. If you need 4 bottom 6 finishes in 5 years to rebuild, you suck at your job as a team builder
^
You wouldn't risk your sweet salary for the remainder of your contract. It's just a matter of how new team that wants to hire you and the team that fired you agree to make up the coach's salary. If you sit on a beach to wait out the contract to expire, you'd still have to look for a job when that contract finishes ... so what's the diff?
So let's say AV has 2 yrs left at $4m/yr. NY pays $1.5, Oilers pay $2.5 for the remainder of the contract. What are you risking?
Wait for a better opportunity? I know Oilers is the sh*tz but an opportunity to coach McDavid ... turn down? What's a better opportunity? I know like last year Washington Capitals, SC winner, does not renew coach ... like that happens every year.
To be fair, I am under the impression once a new coach is hired. The previous contract is null/void so the previous team no longer is obligated to pay anything whatsoever.
I'm not sure coach's salaries can be divided up like a player contract during a trade.

Chick sang both anthems okay today. LOL at the pitch pipe. I haven't seen anyone use it these days. She sang a Capella, though. Was that a natural vibrato?
Anyway, go, Canucks, GO!!!!

LOL, got home late, so started watching the game that I recorded...... I was fast forwarding and it doesn't matter how fast or slow you watch the game, it was just plain painful to watch.
Watching the scoreboard and you see power play after power play for SJ, then the score going up and up.
