Just picked up a Del Sol with this setup and I can't think of a logical way this is possible, other than the block being re-stamped. What do you think?

Wasn’t there a dual cam zc motor? Similar but distinct from the b series. Maybe it was the dohc zc swap onto a sohc block? I’m no Honda guy so just a guess

Have a weird feeling looking at the lettering, the markings were shaved off them re-stamped. The letters of the stamping don't match oem honda stampings. Just look at the difference is the number 6. Why anyone would do this I have no idea??? Maybe to screw with their friends???

Just found this video on YouTube and guy is talking about re-stamping blocks in California due to emissions standard... was it ever this bad here with aircare and motor swaps? I know we have it quite lenient compared to California, but maybe back in the day motor swaps and airfare didn't jive???
Two other possible reasons for re-stamping I can think of are stolen parts, or trying to cheat at something (collector plates/race series, etc) that places restrictions on engine swaps.

I'd be pretty stoked if it's re-stamped. I was pretty excited when it was dropped off and it was DOHC, then equally disappointed when I saw the block stamp.
Are there any actual casting marks on the block to ID it?
I know I can figure out the tranny, counting the input shaft to driveshaft ratio, in 3rd gear.

That's some crooked ass stamping. Ive never seen a factory honda stamped that poorly, they didnt even try.
Probably a straight up b motor but the reason for restamp may never be known. Could be for emissions, could be swapped motor originating from elsewhere, could be import reasons, could be stolen lol. Could be a frankenstein motor like the h23 vtec.. does it even run? Lol
Confirmed B16 (A2, A3, JDM, who knows?), running a P30 C00 ECU. Still have to figure out what the tranny is. I have a feeling everything is stock, just going by how grimey everything is. In which case, the only logical reason for re-stamping it is for emissions or racing.
