| Cruises
My family (7 total) is thinking about going on a cruise together in a few months. I've looked online and it's quite overwhelming I don't even know where to start.
So I went to a travel agency yesterday to get a better idea. The lady there suggested I take Royal Carribean liner the "Allure of the Sea" that departs from Florida with stops in St. Martin, Haiti and Puerto Rico.
Anyone here have previous experience with cruises and how was it? The port stops are only like 6-7 hours, is that enough time to do anything? Just grab a bite and get back on the ship?

If the ship itself doesn’t dock I’ve heard it’s a complete shit show doing excursions
Line up at 5am to wait an hour to get into the little boat then spend a handful of hours just to wait another 1-3 to get back into the little boat and back to the ship.
Never been on a cruise personally but two different people have told me the same thing with completely different cruises and operators

I've been on a few. Depends what kinda cruise you want? Different cruise lines offer something different. The big 3 are Royal Caribbean, NCL and Carnival.
You can book excursions on the cruise and those usually last a few hours or you can venture out and explore.
Yes, like Hondaracer said, some ports dont have docks and you board a tender boat to the island. However, if you book a excursion you get priority tender service.

I've been on 2, one to Carribbean and one to Alaska. That's enough for me for the rest of my life.
Cruises are the epitome of excess & waste. A model of the global world injustice on one ship. White people in all the key executive positions, people from developing countries doing the room service/waiter/waitress/cleaning. Most ships are registered in places like Liberia with the most lax rules for environmental, employment, and other standards. At the end of the cruise, the service people get paid by your tips (which the cruise strongly suggest ... why don't you MF's pay them a decent wage).
Anything but cruise.

Ended up going with the Royal Caribbean Allure of Seas on a different route.
Stops in Nassau, Bahamas -> Cozumel, Mexico -> Roatan, Honduras -> Costa Maya, Mexico.
I chose the itinerary with more stops so we don't spend consecutive full days at sea.
Now I'm looking at a couple of excursions when we dock but they all look really expensive. Maybe snorkle at 1 stop, do some water sports along the beach of another and just chill + eat at the others.
Anyone been to those docks before?

A friend of mine had a cruise that docked at Nassau and said it was so expensive and the food was shit. The worst part was how touristy it was and how everyone flocks to you to try and get you to buy all their useless piece of shit tourist trap merchandise.

In Nassau, they are pretty aggressive with selling you stuff.
I did the Atlantis excursion back in 2013 when it was cheaper ($149), now its like $199.
It was lots of fun but i wouldn't do it again for $199.
Ive been to all those ports lol

do all Cruises pretty much dump you all at the nearest beach on stops and you're elbow to elbow with no sand showing there's so many people on the shore?..
i saw one of my relatives Disney trip compared to the website Ad where they made it look like paradise beach with few people..
