yeah that's what i meant by scooter though.
by ebike i meant something that looks like a bicycle, which is a lot more common these days.

I prefer a single wheel.

ebikes (bicycles with pedal assist) are a gamechanger, makes it easier to bike uphill which is what has stopped me from biking previously.

bcrdukes 07-26-2018 07:15 AM

What's wrong with all of you? Don't you all enjoy suffering uphill battles? Bunch of wussies.

PeanutButter 07-26-2018 07:58 AM

I also thought those were interesting, but I feel they look weird in the wild.
I would much rather have a bicycle since it blends in more.

I ride my bike all the time in the Spring/Summer, but we live by Brentwood Mall, which is a hill zone in every direction. I pretty much prefer riding from here to downtown/seawall/kits for the most part. Hills aren't fun.

I bought a used "urban ryder" (i know.. cheesy name) off craiglist for $900, which had about 2500KM on it at the time of purchase. I just past 4100KM. Use it for work commute, it takes just a bit longer than my car lolol... I live near Burnaby City Hall and work at Market Crossing.

car commute is about 20min (rush hour mon - fri 9 - 5)
bike commute is about 28min

Lol that hill up Gilley in a normal pedal bike will be insane....

As for riding, if its a smaller city street, I use the road because it is way smoother. And I ride pretty close to the curb/parked cars that cars can pass beside me no problem. On bigger road like Byrne or Marine way, than yea... sidewalk

The bike is stored in my garage at home, and in my actual office at work. Ya, don't trust it leaving it outside at all.

Lastly.. range, yes, I've tried riding from home to Stanley Park, around the sea wall and back. One charge, and I wasn't really trying to conserve. So yup.

I did a bit of research before buying in though. The main reason I choose this e bike is that their main office is right next to the Speed Syndicate in Burnaby, so nice and close if I need any spare parts. And the bike is also sold by Costco (I think it retails for about $1600 new). Which you know, if you want a piece of mind, costco return policy is... one of the best.

welp... its no longer on Costco Website, but it did have like a 500 rebate at the beginning of the year at the time I was looking at them....

Not everyone wants to show up at work covered in half a gallon of sweat.

Only if rear has snow tires ... not A/S.

Cue the pedal bike with snows better than ebike with A/S argument.

Thoughts on radrover?

Tested it. Electric bikes aren't bad. Fun.

Mr.Money 03-17-2019 11:38 PM

whatever you do,don't buy a boosted board or a electric scooter that goes 80km/hr or you're gonna get fucked up if something happens....srs....i'm talking broken elbow grinded down to the bone,or entire side of body with road rash cause it takes god damn forever to stop from 70 to 0.

Went to Stanely park yesterday for a bike ride with gf and man some people riding ebikes going in and out of everyone, almost hit someone crossing the road. They should really ban ebikes from parks. i mean you are there to enjoy the scenery not to injury/kill people.

bcedhk 03-19-2019 08:51 AM

I think a lot of bike rentals around stanley park are promoting and offering e-bikes cause it gives one less excuse for fat / lazy asses to ride a bike.
