A&W 'Beyond Meat' burger

OK so who's tried it..and does it actually taste like beef?!!!

i'll try it tomorrow/Aug 1st.

"Our newest burger patty is made from 100% plant-based protein. Literally built from the ground up, it’s juicy, satisfying and everything a burger should be."

I tried it without knowing it wasn't meat and felt that it was pretty good.

jing 07-31-2018 01:29 PM

My wife made me eat one :lol

7/10 would eat again, but if I'm remembering right it does cost more than the bovine equivalent.

Great68 07-31-2018 01:51 PM

If I was someone that ate fast food regularly I'd probably think about ordering this every now and then.

But really, I eat a fast food burger so rarely (maybe a half dozen times a year) that when I do I want the real meaty thing.

So I guess it's good that more options are coming out, but I don't see myself ever eating one of these.

was like $8 for a burger with cheese

was good. wouldnt get it again though for the price.

I mean it is grilled on the same grill as the other shit they cook but A for effort

JDMDreams 07-31-2018 06:08 PM

I tried it. I remember it was like $0.50 more than a regular teen meal. I couldn't really tell the difference. Unless you eat a meat one back to back. The meat version was more chewy and fiberous and more gritty.

donjalapeno 07-31-2018 08:26 PM

Why is A&W so expensive nowadays? I know they use good ingredients and what not but damn. I got the beyond burger with cheese and a order of 5 chicken strips and it was nearly $20.

Burger was pretty good though. Lacks the chew and grease but its pretty good.

evil_jigglypuff 08-01-2018 08:25 AM

I'm all about A&W when they offer coupons.
As for the beyond meat burger, it didn't taste like beef. It wasn't bad, but the only benefit I found was that it didn't attack my insides like a regular teen burger does.

Am I supposed to assume it's healthier just cause it's plant based? Or is this actually the truth?

320icar 08-01-2018 10:46 AM

It’s not just about health. The way we farm beef has a huge impact on the world. Being able to find viable substitutes that don’t taste like feet is a no small feat.

The meat in the burger is not the unhealthy part...

In fact it probably takes 10x more processing to create this plant based patty than it does to make a meat patty.

Really it's just to give an option to vegetarians so they can eat a burger at A&W.

This is pretty much how I feel about it.

I'm aware of everything you guys are saying. Just that the marketing is confusing. Here's a special burger . . . but I'm not going give you a reason to try it. You should know it already.

keifun 08-01-2018 07:14 PM

I used to test these vegetarian meat alternative food products in the lab. Knowing whats in there, I'm skeptical of that they say it is.

TOS'd 08-01-2018 08:33 PM

Patty texture was decent, felt close to a beef patty. It tasted like the red seasoning salt you see at red robins.

unit 08-02-2018 09:18 AM

i tried it yesterday and liked it! would definitely try it again but i rarely ever eat fast food anyway.

evil_jigglypuff 08-02-2018 09:47 AM

I tried them for lunch yesterday at work thanks to smoothie's coupons.

They are actually not bad. They do taste like what A&W burgers taste like minus the bite from real meat patties. A little steep tho for a fast food burger. would eat again but with coupon or if someone buys it for me lol

BIC_BAWS 08-02-2018 09:53 AM

Tried them at like 3am after heavy drinking. It tastes like meat on the first bite. On the first bite, in the last few chews, it lacks the same substance or weight as real meat. It didn't have the same feeling of I just ate a burger.
