I got rid of my motorcycle because I was sick of paying so much to insure the fucking thing. That said I'll probably cave and buy another one soon lol.

I’m pretty sure this wasn’t legal but I remember there is a form or somthing to temporary transfer a plate to another vehicle under emergency circumstances? Or maybe it’s for the purpose of selling a vehicle or somthing? Lol I don’t even know if this form exists frankly

But way back just out of high school a buddy of mines brother had a convertible mustang that we basically filled out this form, moved the plates from a Pontiac Grand Prix onto the mustang and cruised the white rock strip lol

Pretty sure we would have been completely fucked if anything had happened

My buddy still does that to this day. You need to have all the paperwork filled out and you can drive around for 2 weeks with the plates swapped from one car to another, or truck to another truck. He's been pulled over many times and been fine every time. It's supposed to be for rural areas where its not easy to go to autoplan. The instructions on how to do it used to be, maybe still are on the back of the transfer form.

I thought it was only if you sold your car. Car A was sold and had a completed sale transfer form then you can move the plates to car B temporarily.

done this many times. there is no more tempting time to go looking for a used vehicle then when you have that hot 10 days of no BS car pickup potential w a set of freshly sold car plates.

you can keep an existing policy for 2 extra weeks?
how does that help unless youre changing more than a handful vehicles per year?

when you sell your car, you're legally allowed to use the active plates (same class - not car on. truck) on a new vehicle you purchase for up to 10 days.

many many times I have sold a car, then acquired another car within 10 days. Seller gives you the signed insurance papers, you throw your plates on from your old car and you're good to go. This saves so much time and BS when you're dealing w sellers. No coming back w plates later etc. I like to be gone quickly and permanently at a private sale.

Note: you can't toss these plates on another car that is already registered to yourself.

EDIT: from ICBC

Using plates from your old vehicle
You can drive your "new" vehicle using the licence plates from your old one for 10 days from the date of purchase if all of these conditions are met:

The vehicle you're switching plates to is registered in B.C. (or was purchased from a licensed B.C. auto dealer).
You have sold or otherwise disposed of your old vehicle.
Both vehicles are the same type (for example, passenger vehicles).
The licence plates are valid B.C. plates.
During those 10 days, you must carry in your new vehicle
the signed Transfer/Tax Form for your new vehicle,
the original registration from the seller (or, for a new vehicle, the signed and dated bill of sale from a dealer),
the insurance papers for your old vehicle (the insurance must still be valid), and
proof, such as the "seller's" copy of the Transfer/Tax Form, that you sold your old vehicle.

Can you do that even if you have another vehicle? ie I own car A and car B. I sell car A, and buy car C the next day.

Well I'm at over $2300 a year for normal cars, pleasure use, full discount and 10 years. So sounds about right.

The I transferred the E46 330ci (Jul 2019 - Jul 2020) policy onto the E46 M3. Only went up by like $20/mo?

Waiting for that ICBC decrease. Hopefully, it drops the S2K below $2k for full coverage

Renew in December, so the “refund” I will get is estimated $377. So using estimate of May 1st, so 8 months, that means my policy should go down ~$47/mo
