I don't think it's a matter of being salty.
Anywhere east of Abbotsford, people lane change to the right and let you pass. Usually at least.

The difference between a yield sign and a stop sign?

Four way stop procedure? Fuck me forget about it

I switched to BCAA.

But I did notice a spike for my basic $200,000 3rd liability with ICBC.

So for those who wonder how much exotic car owners pay...I just insured my Performante and with a full discount, $5m liability, 20+ year driving record with no accidents/fines my total came out to $6800/year. The basic is around $2600, the other portion for high end vehicles was around $4200. The deductible is $4500.

Is that the lowest deductible you can get?

Wow, the insurance itself is really affordable. Deductible seems damn high (for a joe like me) but considering the cost of replacing a carbon front lip, $4500 is nothing

i recall no discount with Class 7N in the early 2000s for 2-door Integras was close to $4k, not too far from insuring a Performante in today's dollar

that is a great deal

In Ontario you can insure a Performante for $2600 and I believe it's similar in Alberta. And only reason I'm paying what I'm paying is because I have a clean driving record. Any points or claims I would be paying way more, probably close to $8000 or even higher.

I’d be curious to know what all these kids with N’s and Aventador SV’s and no chance of a clean record pay.

But like big baws said that’s pretty damn cheap. My focus RS is 3K a year on full discount, I assume STi’s and Golf R’s are the same. So a car that costs 6-7x as much is only 2x to insure. Suspect

The FK8 is around $2200 a year with full discount.

Why does the Focus RS cost 30% more? because of the Drift Button?

This is all through ICBC? If so, I'd be shopping around for optional coverage, through a different provider.

For others that think they have the maximum discount @ 43%, remember, that's only for basic. You're not truely maxed out, til you're at -20 CRS, which includes discounts on optional coverage (which most of us get).

I’m including optional extras like 2m liability, collision, comprehensive etc. Actually I just got my renew letter so I cal say exactly what it is (they say eastimate)

- basic coverage (-43%) $1093
- 2m liability $585
- collision ($500 deduc) $936
- comprehensive ($300 deduc) $287
- vehicle license fee $61
- parks plate renewal $40
- total $3002

Two questions. Why is the optional coverage so fucking expensive, and dafuq is vehicle license fee. ISNT THAT WHAT WE PAY ICBC FOR

Edit: Icbc optional total $1671, online BCAA estimate quote for the same coverage is $1061

Belairdirect was the only private insurer that would provide optional coverage and they told me the value (after tax) for the Performante was too much and couldn't provide coverage. When I had my Huracan 580 couple years ago I did use Belairdirect and it was around $1100 cheaper for the optional. Big difference.

This is mine:

ICBC Basic Coverage (43% discount): ~1100
2m : ~220
Collision ($1000 deductible) : ~ 370
Comprehensive ($100, yes $100 deductible) : ~ 220
Replacement Cost Plus: ~180
Preferred Driver Package: $20

Plus 10% off for being a BCAA member.

Disclaimer: Please note that everyone's quote on a different time of the year might be different, please don't quote me on this and ask BCAA for this quote.

That's also how much they wanted to insure me in Markham in first year university. ICBC is incredibly cheap for inexperienced drivers - I paid 3400 the year before.

Ontario insurers also don't have a loophole where kids can drive on their parents insurance without paying additional. Either you sign a waiver saying you kid won't drive, or you have to pay an additional 900 a year.

They have the minimum $200,000 liability, and nothing else through ICBC. If they are under a certain age, and/or have an N, ICBC won't give them anything more than the minimum liability required by law and they have to go elsewhere for additional insurance.

The number of super cars with N's sporting the minimum in Vancouver is apparently shocking.

I've been to several places in Quebec a whole bunch of times, and I'd also say their drivers -- esp those in Montreal -- are generally more skillful than we are.

Add to that parts of Metro Vancouver have a disproportionately high number of new / inexperienced drivers driving high end vehicles (some of which don't even have valid BC driver's licence, it is little wonder that our auto insurance payouts are so damn high.
I can't speak for Manitoba (probably the same) but in Saskatchewan they have no fault insurance. They pay for your medical bills and they'll fix your vehicle but you can't sue for injuries like you can here in BC unless you have TORT coverage which most do not. Even if you have Tort coverage it's not a windfall like it's been in BC for so long.

If BC was to remove the payouts for injuries the cost of insurance & fraud would drop significantly. It's why insurance is Govt ran and still a lot cheaper in Sask. than it is here.

Why would someone with the kind of cash to buy a car that expensive bother spending the time to save maybe a few hundred a year?
