^^ all depends. Driving to the ridge is 5 hours, but a lot of that is shit time wasted at the border or stuck in Seattle traffic; it sucks. But I can drive 8 hours to the interior on empty highways no problem
I watched the first ep the other day too. It will be quite a trip with modified cars. Lots of break downs already lol

I have done 3 trans-continent drive (1 through Canada the the other 2 in US) and I think it's not so much of a problem on normal cars.
Modded cars... even factory tuned like Evo are pushed to the limit of their parts to squeeze as much performance as possible in a short drive (track or whatnot).
They said it themselves that the trip was poorly planned... and given all the breakdowns they had (only in episode 1!!), it shows.
I'd have flushed everything and use new fluid with new gasket, filter... etc on everything. Then I'd de-tune, or more precisely, re-tune their cars' ECU to be better suited for long trip.
In regards on long drive. I honestly don't mind if I had some friends to chat (either on the car or through walkie-talkies), limit-less smoke, snacks and drinks.
The longest single day drive I ever did was when I was returning from ON to BC. Woke up at 8 and was on my way around 8:30... ended my drive that day at 1:30AM when I couldn't bear anymore and found a motel somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
It wasn't that bad except at the end. Some nice scenery along the way and my truck was almost new (had about 1500miles when I picked it up, I specifically requested it as I was doing the trans-con by myself and didn't want any surprises) and the AC was so cold that I had to turn it off and open the window from time to time just to warm myself up.
I did Vancouver to Edmonton with a 20 min lunch break somewhere in Blue Water.
While the drive itself wasn't too bad, it was kind of brutal on my car. Rock chip damages all over the windshield and bumper, something even went right through my clear bra and took off paint near my rear fender. My black intercooler was all chipped up with the metal showing through.
As much of a blast it was to take my car through the windy roads on a long road trip, I've done it once, never doing it again. lol.

My good friends parents who live on Savary Island drove a 1995 Camry from Savary Island (which is north of Powell River) to Florida and back. Over about a month period i believe a few years ago
They are actually relatively well off people but frugal in some ways. Also they were driving to Florida to meet up with the kids and their uncle who was taking them on his 80 foot yacht so obviously it was a choice to drive lol.
Worst part, they said the AC had died for most of the return trip lol.
I concur with driving to Portland though, the 5 hours to Portland feels much more tiring than the 5 to Kelowna imo. The highway (i5?) to Portland is fast but super boring

why? did it once but never again
you wasted 2 days just driving and it's not exactly scenic
flights to vegas are fairly reasonable and rentals there if needed are cheap af
i'm saying this as someone who'll happily go back and drive through Utah for a 3rd time
the rental mustang I had went into limp mode in the last 100mile stretch before LV so even stock may not be the answer

Did dt Vancouver to Regina SK back in 2011 for my bro's funeral.
Used a rental 2011 Impala which ate up the miles like a champ.
Only problem was in the mountains, when I realized a faint vibration in the seat of my pants when coasting that reminded me of having loose lug nuts. I had to struggle to find a shoulder to exit on, but sure enough our nearly new Impala had loose lug nuts.
I'd never do that drive again. The enjoyable parts and nice scenery ended in Calgary. Was crap from then on.

The drive is what I'm into. I find it relaxing. I don't find Vegas interesting anymore. Probably been there at least 40 times since turning 21.
It could be a 20 hour road trip anywhere really. LA is about 20 hours from here but their roads are crap. We just happen to choose Vegas everytime.

drove to winnipeg one shot....slept for a long time afterwards.
My dad though (rest his soul) he drove vancouver to toronto (family road trip) in one shot and only stopped to rest for a couple hours (we stopped at some tourist attraction i think it was flintstones park or something) and im pretty sure he slept while we were inside. #dadlife
every couple weeks im driving out to cranbrook, taking the crowsnest. thats a fun highway. everytime I do I try to beat my pr. #crowsnesttimeattack
though last week they closed the hwy from kermeos to princeton cuzfire, had to detour through penticton>merritt and the hwy is more open there with higher SL, didn't seem to take up much more time.
