If you are with Fido, the 3GB for tablet for $15 might be something you could look into.

Port your current 2nd phone number to some of the IP phone providers and forward those calls to your work phone (assuming it's not an issue).

When dial out, use Google Hangout. Voila.

A bit of pita, but if you are mainly just keeping your personal number around, it might actually make sense.

My wife basically has that setup but for her work as a consultant as she wants to keep her personal number and work number separated.

i go with Wind/Freedom. YES reception doesn't go far outside of GVRD, that's when I go out and call forward to company phone. When i travel i roam with company.
The key is that I want to keep my personal number.
