| Out of province inspection
hello, recently purchased a vehicle in AB and need to get it inspected, can you please recommend a place? Would be great if it would not be too scrupulous.

Canadian Tire, OK Tire, Midas, Minit-Tune... They are all pretty much same. If you have a BCAA membership, the'll do that for you too. not sure how but the will. Some dealerships do them too. Just call around.
How old is the vehicle? if it's 3 yrs old and newer you don't need out of province inspection.

You still need to do it. When I moved out here from AB I brought my vehicle with me. Didn't have to pay taxes on it but still had to do the out of province inspection.

Only time you DON'T need it is if you are moving FROM BC to live in AB. In that case no, you don't need it (as the car will only be used for LESS than 3 months in BC).

Since you are a BC resident and had just bought the vehicle from Alberta then yes, you would need the inspection done. It's roughly $100 to get one.

Once you register a car in a province (have an OOP), you'll need an OOP inspection whenever you plan on registering in another province.
Trust me, I've been thru this enough. My BMW has passed the OOP inspection MULTIPLE times in AB, Sask and BC (as we moved around).

They’re all very anal and detail oriented nowadays, long gone are the days of a provincial inspection not meaning shit... if your car isn’t in great shape you’re gonna fail.
Just had one done for my 68 Mustang for modified collector plates and they failed me for a rear axle seal that was just sweating not even full out leaking. It’s about $150 + taxes and take prett much half a day.
Check the ICBC site on google there’s a list of valid inspection places for each city, it’s massive.

this makes me think you don't need the inspection. your best bet is just calling ICBC though.
when you bought the vehicle in AB, it would be registered to you in AB.
so that makes you the "same owner in the previous jurisdiction" and the vehicle "...registered in alberta...immediately prior to being imported" and is less than 4 years old.

Any time I purchased an OOP vehicle, I just got the proper forms/title signed, brought it home and got it inspected/reg'd/insured.

if your the original owner of the vehicle and its newer than 4 years from the date of manufacturer and its coming from AB or SK, you don't need to do it
you can have an 2014 that might need an inspection depending on the date of manufacture,
if you bought a car that was is 4 years or newer and was previously registered in AB or SK but not to you, then you have to do an inspection, like buying a used 2017 car, you will need to do an inspection

Curious if anyone can help. Looking for an OOP inspector that will inspect right-hand drive vehicles in Vancouver.
Just imported a 1989 Suzuki Jimny from Japan. All customs work is complete, but my mechanic now says he cannot inspect right-hand drive.
Thanks!
Greg
