$230 ticket(warning) for rear window stickers

Hi there, just wondering if anyone has dealt with this. I have slap stickers on the rear window of my car and I was given a verbal warning by an officer to remove them immediately or otherwise face a $230 fine. I've never had
or heard of this issue before regarding rear window stickers and am wondering what is the legality of it?

What I found on the MVA was:

Quote:
Windshield stickers
(2) No person shall drive or operate a vehicle on a highway while his view of the highway or of any intersecting highway is unduly obstructed by any windshield sticker, sign, poster or other thing or material placed over or affixed to the windshield or any window of the vehicle
Whether or not it "unduly" blocks your view is subjective and I'm sure many of us have at least one sticker on some window

My rear window for reference:

Never heard of that before. But I can see why your rear window attracts attention.

To be fair you can argue vans and work trucks with canopies that have no rear window

Yup, cube trucks, vpds paddle wagons, buses - countless vehicles that you can't see out the back from. Didn't want to argue with the copper as he can easily bring out a VI and ticket something else

By the letter of the law, yeah. That's probably something most cops let go.

Is that pic from tonight?

That's fucking pathetic.

I wonder how long ago he traded in his flashlight for a gun.

You're talking about the rear window when your mva quote is the windshield. 2 different ends of the car. Refer to mva 7.05 (8)

After reading MVA 7.05 (8)
Quote:
No person shall drive or operate on a highway a motor vehicle which has affixed to or placed on the windshield or a window any material that reduces the light transmitted through the windshield or window unless the material is affixed to or placed on

(a) the windshield but not more than 75 mm below the top of the windshield,

(b) a side window that is behind the driver, or

(c) the rear window if the motor vehicle is equipped with outside rear view mirrors on the left and right side of the motor vehicle
My suspicions were right. He be trippin

The precedent set by that warning would mean any type of vehicle or business that uses the back glass for advertising would be illegal. Hell, even those vinyls that go over the glass are partially covered in holes to help with some visibility. I've got slap spines on the left and right edges of my rear glass with three cut decals up the middle and no one has said anything.

Besides, 7.05 (8)(c) applies since everyone has side mirrors. Stupid motherfucker doesn't even know his own laws.

Absolute bullshit IF you have passenger side mirror. You are not required to be able to see out the rear window but if you do have it blocked you must have a passenger side mirror. If you don't have a passenger side mirror you must have a rear view mirror and an unobstructed rear window.

Berz out.

You're missing the most common one, rear tint. Factory tinting where they add a dye to the glass is probably a loophole but I imagine arguing that would be annoying.
