Funny that you should mention that. The prices of the X have been under $1000 on CL for awhile. Even saw some going for around $800, but those ads didn't last long

The other option is to buy a certified pre-owned 64GB iPhone X from Koodo. Purchase on the XL tab and end up paying 300 + 720 - 210 = 810 + tax

It sucks cause it's not brand new, but you can always return it for another one if the condition isn't up to your standards. I find buying phones off eBay + CL is too shady with the chance that someone can always blacklist the phone.

twitchyzero 09-30-2018 04:12 PM

that koodo option is quite sensible for those who wants a newer premium device
esp while the widespread charging issue on the hot new release is still pending a fix

but wont the phone be locked to koodo and then require an unlock?

Aren't all phones sold now unlocked as per the rules

Used for Xs Max for about 10 minutes in the Apple store today. Beautiful phone, great camera, but I’m glad I didn’t bite on the price.

Just using it for browsing, going through news articles, the stock app etc. there certainly isn’t a better phone out. It works perfectly

Ulic Qel-Droma 10-12-2018 09:48 PM

pretty sure the more powerful processor is only gonna show a diff during multiplayer AR which isnt even that big yet.

yeah going from X to XS isnt worth it... but going from a 6, 6s or 7 is prob worth it.

TjAlmeida 10-13-2018 12:05 PM

If you go with Koodo CPO, what can you use the credits on? I need an upgrade from my 6, and the X on tab large is $500 upfront, $480 in payments and a $250 credit.

Just ordered 2x XS 256gb for myself and the wife. A nice upgrade to her 6S or my 7 for sure.

Thought on the swiping vs an actual home button

R1CED` 10-13-2018 08:30 PM

pain in the ass to close apps in ios 11
now a lot easier, and swiping is a lot faster than android's last used apps button
physical home button so 2010, about time apple got rid of it last year

You'll get used to it, swiping is easier to use day to day than the home button.

DavidNguyen 10-14-2018 08:18 PM

Oh. I ask because every 2 years. mothers contract is up and she wants an iphone for 0 dollars. I recently got her an 8 plus for 0 bucks and shes like wtf where is the headphone jack!

Next 2 years. She gonna be like "where is the home button" and I get so frustrated showing her how to use the damn thing lol

unit 10-15-2018 07:08 AM

i have no problem with the swiping whatsoever.. ithink it's actually just as good. my only issue is face id... i hate it.

Not anymore, all have been pulled from stores.

I just upgraded from an iPhone 7 Plus, to the XS Max 256.

This is a slick device. From the end-user perspective, this device feels like a worthwhile upgrade from what I had. The screen is amazing, the battery life is insanely good, camera especially in low-light is great, and everything feels snappy. Pretty satisfied.

R1CED` 11-01-2018 01:54 PM

bet when you upgraded to the 7+ the battery was great, camera was pretty good and it felt snappy

I agree the build quality, smaller bezels and display is what makes it worthwhile

OriginalJC 11-01-2018 02:37 PM

The difference from the 6 plus to 7 plus was minor. It felt like an updated phone. The 7 Plus to the XS Max is significantly noticeable.

Could just be me, but here at work everyone is upgrading and the feedback is pretty consistent.:notbad:

Trying to figure out what to do, I have a $1k Apple gift card... gift from family, long story short no I can't just sell the gift card and there's some expectation that I do something with it ASAP.

Ive got an iPhone7 256 that I'm perfectly happy with, went to try out the XS and XR at the store. Not used to swiping up, could get used to it... to me the difference is not all that impressive to be coughing up a grand on it... if I had to, was kind of leaning toward the XR I think it's the better buy, I don't care about a zoom camera on the XS and the OLED/LCD thing I couldn't see much difference. I did like the fact the XS was a bit smaller... I'm an old iPhone SE proponent, loved (still love) that phone's design so big screens are not my thing and the XS is smaller than the XR... but that price difference.... yeesh. I'm also concerned with all the glass on these phones... I'm a clumsy ass and go to the gym a lot and I drop my 7 fairly often and it's just in a rudimentary silicone sleeve, but it's not a glass back so I haven't had any issues.

Would you bother with the phone or get an Apple Watch instead? I've never owned a smart watch and again it's not something I feel I need lol... laptop is out, I already have a nice one and I'm not a Mac person.

Yah I know sad 68style must spend a grand... boohoo poor him... but I just don't want to be wasteful you know what I mean? Any (constructive) opinions? I suppose I could sell the 7 afterwards for half-decent money.

Hondaracer 11-03-2018 08:39 AM

personally i'm still happy with my 7+ after using the new phones in the apple store, i wasnt blown away by the OLED screen but its definately an upgrade.

its kind of a tough call on that GC.. you could probably get between 450-550 for your current phone so still would have to shell out 500+ for the upgrade.

Mr.Money 11-03-2018 08:40 AM

lesson learned, they shoulda gave you 1k in cold hard cash..not your problem.

The new iPad Pro looks decent and the smaller one is 999 pre-tax.

Mr.HappySilp 11-03-2018 09:54 AM

Haven't been following the news at all but is the new ipad really worth the upgrade? Been using my ipad air 1 or 2 and really have issue with it at all.
