^ I'm just trying to get more legitimate data first prior to doing anything further or coming to an early conclusion.

Lots of second/third-hand accounts with many missing pieces currently. This doesn't help our case nor build a credible argument to take action on.

^ I agree. At the moment it sounds like it's a department wide VI blitz more than a personal vendetta (or maybe engineered to seem that way, cue Charles). Who knows, maybe Dukake was not the cause of the blitz but just one of the early victims at the start of the blitz and the whole IG blowup was coincidental and concurrent.

PandaDog 10-03-2018 11:35 PM

Apparently Delta traffic cops have blitzed commercial vehicles as well.

Looks like a Lower Mainland VI blitz. CSVE out in full force on Royal Ave in New West.

I saw that last year on Royal Ave, they had more trucks pulled over than people inspecting them. Wonder if its random checks or they saw issues to pull them over.

It'd be frightening to think every one of those pulled over might be unsafe for the road.

I feel like there may be a lot of unsafe trucks on the road, especially those box trucks.

Highway Thru Hell gives you an example of the kind of clueless/inexperienced/dangerous truck drivers you can find out there. One can only imagine how well their rigs are maintained.

My dad drove an oil tanker truck across BC for 30 years with no accidents or major incidents, his employers even awarding him at 30 yrs, 20 yrs, 10 yrs, etc for Safe Driving. He had plenty of stories of dangerous drivers or their trucks or both from that time.

If less than 40 of 300 trucks were considered safe, the industry needs improving. Especially after Humboldt.

Yeah this isn't anything new, They do this twice a year in New West, Delta, Richmond and Vancouver.

along with these random spot checks, we have to do a mandatory VI every 6 months before we're allowed on the road.

Saw two cops at a bus stop at the typical ubc spot pulling people over about an hour ago. So I pulled over (out of sight, didn't want a VI), and one of them happened to be getting ready to leave. They were vpd and he said they were just there for speed trap, didn't even know what VI stood for?! But anyway he said they weren't doing that and they at least hadn't heard of any "blitz" or mission for them to be handing out VIs. They had a cell phone one with icbc a week ago he said, but for him at least, they weren't doing VIs.

Not every VPD is in on this VI thing. It's a team of about 4-5 of them that's going around handing out VIs, usually in ghost cars or on bikes. Or even roadblocks now looking for modded cars.

Can confirm. These police were doing inspections at the Nordel way on-ramp onto Alex Fraser. Fucked up my commute and all the other commuters. Traffic almost backed up on Nordel at 116th Street just trying to get onto Alex Fraser.
Annoying AF.

Had to get up 20 minutes earlier than usual and still 5 minutes late to work.

Not my generation. I refuse to be categorized in the same generational cohort as these shameless individuals who believe that life is all about the likes.

you'll be fine. theoretically. assuming the wheels aren't super wide and offset isn't crazy, you have the same springs as me and the greddy exhaust is quieter than mine.
