Ctv should interview Duke and The constable spearheading this blitz. |
Just remember, the comments threads are frequented by the same salty old men yelling at clouds that there were back in the newspaper "opinions" back in the day. They aren't very representative of how normal people actually feel about any given situation. Its the same people that talk about how Obama is from Kenya, Autistic kids shouldn't be allowed at restaurants because they "ruined their quiet dinner at BPs", etc. Its the fucking trailer park of the internet |
Congratulations on not only getting a media spotlight on this, but doing so in such a way that didn't backfire on you. Great work. Comments will always be garbage. The fact is the story itself is pretty fair, and that's the most important part. |
A few of us have gotten in contact with the person who wrote the article, she is looking for anyone who wants to be interviewed. Please PM me if you want to speak up and be featured ! I think we need someone who is charismatic and is comfortable with representing the community as a whole. https://scontent.fyvr2-1.fna.fbcdn.n...60&oe=5D207B13 |
I hope that with SproadicMotion (Eddie)'s courage in taking a step to speak out, it will encourage more of you, who have been directly affected by this, to reach out to Angela at CTV. Angela has been very helpful and has been along for the ride since day 1 of this thread. |
"The VPD said it doesn’t want to speculate why the numbers have spiked. It said the notice and order is a way for officers to keeping Vancouver roads safe." How can VPD justify VI'ing stock sportcars "not safe"?... I want to ask VPD about the few cars that passed VI with their aftermarket exhaust systems unchanged, since when did our law make our citizens guilty until proven innocent? Sounds like VPD is trying to sway the public onto their side by using the word "safe". Edit: Sorry, had to re-word it since I was typing it out in frustration haha. |
Respect to the dude on tv just now with the loud ass fiat. |

(lol, basically what DaJo posted 2 posts above, but his post was kind of confusing out of context). |

And that gives police all the freedom in the world to do whatever the fuck they want even if it's not in the interest of the general public or not within the "spirit of the law" |
Made it on tv, we did it fam |
Anybody got the news clip? |
I know the VPD said it doesn't want anyone to speculate why there's an increase but bear with me on this one: *tinfoil hat on* According to the CTV article's chart, there was a spike during September 2018. Why is this? That was the month of mayoral elections. I reasonably believe that the VPD was under pressure by the mayor to conduct a blitz to reduce the amount of noisy vehicles on the road. Notice that there is another huge spike during October 2018 which is when the new mayor Kennedy Stewart entered office. My evidence of this is due to Ken Sim's party promise of Quote:
While Ken Sim did not win the elections, the NPA noticed that noisy vehicles were a problem in Vancouver and maybe the noise complaints could've had an impact on the current Mayor. Maybe we're going after the wrong goose. Instead of targeting the individual officer and his department, maybe we need to change the fundamental "guilty until proven innocent" ways of the VI system and express our concerns/complaints not only to the VPD, but Mayor Stewart as well. |
For the record, the tow truck driver that towed my car said that about the mayor as well. September is also like the primest of prime for driving months, and it trickled off due to many of these types of cars being put away. Definitely there was a trigger in september to spur all of it. On another note, it’s amazing that people associate all the shitty driving in this city with modified cars. The cars I always see going 50 over the limit are new or slightly short of new, low end 3 series, c classes and the like being driven by 20ish year old bros. |

I feel for anyone with a SVR Range or Jag best stay out of Vancouver because the stock exhaust is crazy loud. Even the factory race exhaust from Lamborghini is crazy loud. |
Oh snap? Spoiler! |

Lol suing for defamation? Is that what it is? |

I like good conspiracies, too. However that one does not explain, why this comes from only from a tiny squad of vpd and Cain in majority. If it was a crack down, vpd would announce it publically and we would see more cop's names. |

hey its been a while since i used this website, but i saw the thread on reddit. as per reddit, i got banned by ogdinosaur for calling her a cunt on reddit, didn't know she was a mod, which is sad because i post some really helpful threads. Anyways i heard she got banned ions ago on revscene. God forbid you talk about getting a cellphone ticket when your looking at your GPS, or pressing next on the dashboard at a redlight. ignore /r/vancouver. Awful sewage dump of a subreddit. |

Also: While the sports car angle is accurate in context, unfortunately most people will stick their butts up at this because in their minds: sports car = privilege = you deserve the misfortunes of life. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if more people skipped the article because it has 'sports car enthusiasts' in the title. Whereas sensible people could read the article and question if certain members of the police are reaching beyond what is considered acceptable behaviour which is a general analysis to make (such behaviour could be performed in other departments). |

I wish they would've tasked the CVSE instead as they have the proper equipment and are properly trained to determine what vehicles are compliant |
