"wish more police departments would enforce the loud aftermarket exhaust. Those drivers deserve tickets and the cars shouldn't be on the road."
Hate to say it, but I called this shit from 1000 miles away. Page 63, post : #1552
I fucking told ya.
Why the fuck are you still here?
You are the guy that no one invited to the party, shows up, tells everyone how much it sucks and still lingers around.

As I said earlier, I wouldn't worry about the comment sections. Those people aren't usually representative of the general public.

Vancouver criminal lawyer Paul Doroshenko said he’s never seen police proceed with a noise-related ticket. He believes that because people are often put-off by extreme, offensive motorcycle noise, the government needs to find a way to make related legislation work, such as an administrative scheme for punishment that would lead to a seizure rather than a violation ticket.

Really excited to see the revisions to the MVA, I figure by July of this year I will be able to drive around in a BRZ on bags w/ sparks shooting out from under the car while my exhaust gives everyone within a 300m radius permanent hearing damage and blows holes in the ozone layer faster than 1950's refrigerators in a trash compactor.
Oh wait, that will never happen, because the MVA will never be revised to be "mod friendly", anyone who thinks otherwise is sadly mistaken.
Nothing to see here folks, move on with your lives.

TBH, it's less wanting to revise the MVA so we can do whatever the hell we want, but more why is it that VPD is suddenly increasing enforcement and sometimes applying subjective criteria in the process, when before, a VI was issued to some totally asking for it. Now, it seems unless you drive a completely stock beige box, you can get one for anything, subjectively. This was never a problem until a certain officer came along.

Google shows the person in question as a "Cpl" in 2015 and in 2018 "Sgt"
Watched a slightly lowered BRZ with an aftermarket exhaust system get pulled over by a member of the VPD traffic division at the intersection of Burrard and Robson yesterday afternoon. The officer proceeded to verify the exhaust noise with his device roughly a foot away from the the driver side exhaust tip in downtown traffic. Wife thought the car was noticeably quieter than the officer's motorcycle, and she is not wrong.
Serious question. Should I expect legal repercussion if I approached the officer and offered my professional opinion as a CVSE authorized vehicle inspector in a situation like this? The whole thing was painful to watch and honestly ruined my day.
Although it would be funny to watch, I’d expect the officer to take a defensive stance in some reduculous way to save his ego. A video tape might help.

Their car OCR cameras are able to pre-scan/surveillance license plates. The GVRD is a small place, which people & cars can easily be spotted. The LEO who are clearly issuing many unpopular VI/MVA tickets. I'm sure their PR relations are at par with meter maids.

Are car tuning shops seeing an impact from all of this?
Went for a cruise yesterday and spotted more supercars and highly modified vehicles, I wonder if Cain and Co are drooling and getting their pen and VI papers ready.

I'm sure they're greeting all the tourists/enthusiasts with VI coupons, for the Vancouver Auto show.
Friend reported that Cain and his gang visited Metrotown Mazda today to speak to them passing about passing too many VIs. Also heard that Cain told them that he took the license from an inspector down the street recently.

I hope the dealership laughed in his face. A street legal car is safe under the guidelines of a VI-checklist and a licensed mechanic.
He's just worried his tickets won't stand up in court and treating the guys at Mazda, as criminals. Crocked car dealers would loose their dealership licenses.

Can anyone speak to how the VPD Traffic Unit's performance is measured?
If the COV is trying to address "Loud cars/motorcycles", it is passed over to VPD. Along with the public outcry of highspeed accidents, road rage and other whining. The current ICBC "safety" - distracted drivers & potential street racing.
