I just got linked here. I didn't realize how many people were getting VIs. I got one last week. My wheels have right around 1" of gap from the fenders and my exhaust isn't stock... but it's not exactly a loud car. I have a cat and the exhaust is resonated. Besides, it's an Abarth. Some Abarth cars with this engine have no mufflers at all from the factory. I mean seriously. It was a motorcycle cop on Grandview near the Husky station.

A guy in an older Focus was getting vi'd at the same time.

It's being quietly implied that at this time, anything other than 100% stock is illegal in Vancouver. It's basically disregarding a multi billion dollar aftermarket industry, and with winter tire season coming up, I would not be surprised if Joe Blow in his Civic gets pulled in for aftermarket winter wheels. Even Australia, notorious for handing out notices for modified cars, is more lenient. Hell, even Ocean City PD at H2O really only target the true morons.

So where are you guys getting your vi done? This is getting ridiculous if you you just driving normally and get pulled over and slapped a vi. What do they say? Your car looks lowered, you have an exhaust, vi for you?

Is there anything you can do if you got VI'd in like a 100% stock car? Like let's say you rolled into the road block in 1st gear at like 35km in a stock s2000

x2. 100% stock vehicle, cop VI's you because they're cunts. Then what? Take it to a licensed repair shop to sign off on your 100% stock car and then show the police the report? Still out the cost of the VI even though you were not in the wrong?

I would contact VPD/RCMP or whatever police agency issued the VI in this case before having it inspected if it's 100% stock. While you can't dispute VI's, you can get them cancelled. Your mileage may vary though.
