This is not about DB noise levels and what is the legal limit,it is about Cain choosing to fail you, even if you are well below the legal limit. If you do by chance have a miracle and pass,he will simply find something else wrong with your vehicle and write you up for a VI,under his expert professional opinion of course.

Not sure how accurate the information is, but facebook just lit up saying the "squad" is now on 10th and Griffin in BBY... that's a little bit too close to home.
Since my commute don't include Vancouver plus the Burnaby Metrotown area, I thought I was mostly in the clear... now though.... grumbles....

I'm curious why VPD is setting up traps in RCMP jurisdiction... seems like a pretty clear over-extension

I just called Burnaby RCMP non emerg and was told:
-Peace officers including VPD can issue tickets in Burnaby no problem
-I don't believe there is targetting of modified cars
-Take it up with VPD Since they don't seem to care about VPD in their hood, get everyone to call and make them care.
I called as a query, as a member of the car community, worried about being unfairly targeted for vehicle inspections that I have no recourse on, after passing. Especially when RCMP don't even look at my car, yet this guy crosses city lines to issue tickets and VIs.

Why are Vancouver residences paying for a police force that's operating in a different jurisdiction?
That should be the outrage for all Vancouverites.

| AFAIK any municipal police force (VPD, Delta PD, New West PD, etc) can enforce any provinicial violations province wide so in theory, a VPD officer can give speeding tickets, VI's etc. somewhere else like Prince George if he/she really wanted to

That's fine.
But the purpose of that is if, say they spot someone speeding in Vancouver and the person cannot be pulled over until they're in Burnaby... they are allowed to pursue across jurisdictions.
It's not meant for them to have City of Vancouver paid police officers taking little breaks from policing in Vancouver to siesta over to Burnaby or Coquitlam or wherever to do some random enforcement of their choosing.

Correct. If they see a crime or one extends past their jurisdiction, sure. But to go out of their way to setup in another city is ludicrous. If my taxes were funding these cops to work outside the city, I'd be pissed.

Probably why Burnaby RCMP said "take it up with VPD" since it's not their concern lol

Isn't the RCMP always short on officers because of stupid budget cuts (what kind of genius cuts funding from emergency services? but that's a whole other discussion)? So if VPD wants to cover their area for free I'd guess at least some people don't really care.
People with a Vancouver address complaining to the VPD that the police force their taxes pay for is doing non-emergency work outside of Vancouver seems like the best way to get anyone paying attention.

i think CoV residence should voice their concern as they are essentially paying these VPD cops to enforce in Burnaby when they should be focused on their own jurisdiction. I'll be making a call today and bringing it up to the mayor office.

RCMP is forecasting a $10.7M deficit, since they aren't permitted to run a budget deficit, so a spending cut was immediately ordered.
This does not affect municipal forces, like VPD, as it is funded 90% by municipality and 10% by province. With that in mind, I'm sure Burnaby RCMP would be happy to have VPD "lend a helping hand"

The city is paying for the officers. The City of Burnaby, for example, will go to the RCMP and say "We have $1.2 million extra to spend on police officers, what can you give us?" and the RCMP will say "We can give you 12 full-time officers" and then they create/fill the positions.
If the RCMP is running a deficit, it's a federal thing and does not affect municipality positions. If the Burnaby RCMP has too few officers, the City of Burnaby would be the ones needing to step up. The RCMP making cuts does not affect that level of service. Burnaby RCMP, for example, cannot "lose money" or be over budget unless officers suddenly incur tonnes of OT unexpectedly and it would be the municipality's policing budget that has a shortfall.
You can see this detailed in the article BIC_BAWS posted... the RCMP will cut the money from rural detachments (the RCMP federally/provincially is the only agency that polices communities that cannot afford to pay for their own police force) as well as federally mandated units such as Federal Policing or IHIT, etc.
TLDR: The above incursion of VPD officers (Cain & Co.) into Burnaby to VI cars is purely them on their coffee break saying "Hey, modified car drivers are avoiding Vancouver and I'm bored, let's go fuck some of their shit up in Burnaby instead hahaha"
