Where were you pulled over? For research purposes.

Right before the armoury on No.4 NB where there's always a skinny cop hiding behind a pole. Made a rookie mistake that day :derp:

That’s an OG speed trap location!

68style 11-15-2019 12:40 PM

Always take Shell instead of 4 Rd just cuz of that trap

You mean the one where Cain was claiming he doesn't actually hate modified cars :rukidding:

JDMDreams 11-15-2019 04:38 PM

Wasn't there supposed to be some drive through dt where they can't vi us all?

Don't hold your breath....I have no context of what happened, but I was at the strip mall at Blundell and Garden City and in the parking lot was a RCMP unmarked SUV pulled over what appeared to be a very stock looking 3rd gen Mazda 3 hatch with black steelies. It just seemed odd because they were blocking the parking lot area in front of Shoppers/IGA. A bunch of other RCMP officers were standing around chatting. You'd think this was a drug bust or something.

Anyways, I heard the officer say, ...."this is a Visual Inspection Ticket". "Something something $150....."

Isn't that the fine for a box 2 VI? Again who knows what transpired, but hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.

I’d say you’re overthinking it. I live next to a Tim Hortons that have 3 rcmp cruisers parked at any given time. They just don’t care. If they pull you over it’s because you either drove bad enough to catch their attention, or your vehicle truly deserves it

lilaznviper 11-15-2019 07:59 PM

spot this yesterday on marine. looks like the plates got taken off as well

when i was driving the other way didn't seem like they had a rader gun going at the time.

There was a Scion FRS that complained to everyone that he got box 2 in Richmond for 4th brake light. He failed to mention that he cut the wire to the rest of the brake lights. The only one that worked was 4th.

May I ask what speed you were travelling at?

Where can the officer pull you right over? Right inside the parking lot in the armoury?

I use that route regularly, didn't know there's speed traps there.

68style 11-15-2019 09:14 PM

Hope they’re planning to put a dolly underneath the rear wheels of that Subaru.............

curious what time were you there to see the VI of the sti?

tofu1413 11-16-2019 09:16 AM

i see tint only and relatively stock shoes on that STI.

doesnt look too low either....... i dont think theyd take off plates for excessive speeding though unless the guy was plateless to begin with or running a day permit.

Richmond RCMP have pretty much stated, they police traffic based on driver behavior, not vehicle of choice... imagine that...almost makes sense, eh? Now Richmond driver's, that another issue, of which I'm one , lol.
Richmond in the 90's did actually have big VI blitzes, due to ongoing street racing issues. Back then, they, the RCMP would team up with CVSE inspectors, and pull suspicious looking vehicles, so it's certainly not unheard of.
That integrated traffic enforcement unit though, not sure bout their jurisdictional/operational abilities within Richmond proper.

Wasn't that from a while back? I personally know the officer that handed him the VI. The FRS had ZERO working brake lights except the flashing fourth light. Was dark at night and the officer nearly rear ended the FRS. The officer is a car enthusiast as well, but the FRS was truly unsafe with only a flashing fourth brake light.
