Stressing out bad here with no options. | How much is the VI? Is it based on the number of infractions and / or what they are specifically?
I'm just curious.

Stressing out bad here with no options. | Did you get it inspected yet?
By the book this is still a fail, it depends on how knowledgeable the inspector is. You aren't allowed to have muffler with any adjustable or removable parts.

I suppose if you permanently welded the silencer in it may pass, there is also the other section where it says the exh tip cannot be larger than the exh piping. It would fail there if the inspector picked up on it.

That can’t be true. My factory exhaust tips are wider than my factory piping

i think it means you can't make the exhaust exit bigger than the factory one, not that the exit has to be the same size as the pipe. there are lots of cars that come with flared tips

The fee for an inspection itself would probably range around $150, including tax depending which shop you go to.
The cost to fix the offending issue would be separate.

I dont have much knowledge on this subject regarding valves but that's what I've heard from my friend who works at a BMW dealership.

Hi, thanks for those who left responses.
I'll take all the help I can get but Im not expecting anything. I've kept the story telling and other details to a minimum because the bottom line is I need a car for deliveries. (temporary gig)
Inspection is past due and insurance expires in a month.
Officer said to take the car to Honda for inspection.
I'm still not certain if my car will pass the 'vehicle inspection'.
Areas of concern: Exhaust (Skunk2 muffler db), Downstream O2sensor works but like to sleep at high voltage (needs a wake up), Upstream O2sensor has always been fine., exhaust system is complete with Cat and Res.
Skunk2 coil over sleeves, w/original struts.
Also have a nagging engine tap quite certain it is the LMA.
Sigh..
Am I just paying someone to inspect/verify that my car is compliant?
If it fails, that's it?
I planned on getting new tires after summer but nothing ever works out for me. It just gets worse.
Just over a month ago I ended a 13 year smoking habbit.
This moment right now I have all the reasons to smoke but I'm not going to do that.

I know this may sound like a horrible idea and may get blasted for it...
2 things (correct me if Im wrong)
1) since your Box 2 VI is already past due, if the cops see you... that is an instant box 1 + license plate comes off the car right there and then (even if somehow you get lucky... you wont be able to renew your insurance when it expires in a month or so)
2) you will be surprised how many people actually do help on RS (yes, you get some slack for asking a "dumb" question or just people judging in general, but even then.. I get PMs from people that genuinely helps), I hope someone that is an inspector OR very knowledgeable will just come see your car first.. maybe you can compensate with a 6-pack or smth? but they would be able to tell you if the car actually passes or not...
From your description... I would say.. it will fail on 2 points
- your (sometime) failed sensor causing a check engine light
- your tires are already at the wear bars
Good luck OP, I know it sucks, but just gotta put your head down and work thru it!
**Another unpopular idea would be to sell your car with an expired VI as is.. it just means the new owner "cant" insure it when they buy it... and whatever you can get for the car... use it to buy a cheap daily.. like a 1995 corolla (no joke, i drove a 96 failmatic corolla for over 3 years, but hey! it was transportation, cheap and reliable, better than bus and skytrain)
sorry this post went on waaayyyy longer than expected... go go go!

You’re paying for a full provincial inspection basically... sounds like your car will fail and you’ll have to do it again.
Fail items would be check engine light / tires too worn out by the sounds of it.
Who knows about other stuff? Brakes? Leaks?
They’re pretty picky man... go in expecting that.

They’re pretty picky man... go in expecting that. | The CEL actually doesnt come on often. I hear the code (P0138-high/P0137-low) gets pushed through only when ecu receives 'x' number of cycles where it stayed at 1.3volts or 0volts. Either way I can wake it up by opening FT. The readings from this O2S is not used for A/F mixture. It really comes down to whether I want to risk taking the O2S out.
Do Inspectors plug anything into the ecu as part of their procedure?
Brakes are fine. (story telling another time) I installed full brake kit last winter. Calipers, rotors, pads shims pins sliders boots silicone lube and flushed and filled with Motul.
The rear pistons were ceased quite bad when I bought the car, I knew this would be the first big job. Can't be pushing 230kmh with heels draggin. ask the guy in the Camaro, he had the best view of my tail lights.
As for leaks, yeah it leaks. it was a lot worse before. I still have a couple more gaskets and rings to replace. primarily the oil ring sitting under the filter, and the two cam seals are looking wet last time I checked.
Here's a good story, a true story of my own. Looking under your car every other day goes a long way. I did that religiously for the first few months. guess what i found leaking? 19012-PD2-004 $5 O ring that seals the petcock ( drain valve on the rad) it was a very slow leak, maybe a drop or two overnight, easily missed but it does drop on pavement cuz there is no plastic under cover. Had that leak kept on leaking... anyways,

Wash your engine and clean the oil leaks right before the inspection. Same as the cel, just clear the codes right before the inspection.
Replace the tires and put a stock exhaust back on and your good to go.

**I havent mentioned this yet, my R headlight and tail light had water leak in initially but has been fixed. Just wondering if these things will be leak tested or needs to be replaced
I've fixed the issue, headlight:clear silicone at lens/housing meet. unnoticed with hood down. lens not cracked. tail light: mounting stud on housing snapped which leaves that area subject to water leakin. fixed with tape, unnoticed when trunk down.
Anyone have suggestion on which Honda dealership I should go and speak to about this?
Is there anyone who has gone through VI? be great to see the inspection sheet. like is this car on hoist+emissions+td?

Originally, RS and TSS made efforts over the weekend to help out the community, led by myself and Spugen. Our purpose was to reach out and help the community during this recent struggle with the ongoing battle with VI enforcement.
After seeing this post, we feel that this is a complete mockery of our efforts over the weekend.
We reached out to other local shops and individuals in the industry to try and make arrangements to help this guy out. We had done enough where this person's car would've been fixed and inspected completely pro-bono. Free. And the other option of a cash gift for him to buy a new beater for the time being, until he got back on his feet and had his car fixed properly.
This has now been stripped and we are no longer interested in offering the helping hand.
Revscene.net and TSS does not condone street racing. We promote our trackdays for a reason.
