I was thinking the same thing. That model of RR has that feature where the exhaust has that backfire, like the AMG's and newer M3/M4's.

If they had that on and were backfiring, then yeah I can see where the officer thought it was worthy of a VI, though slightly mis-informed.

Won't happen.Cain is a coward and he will never meet with anyone in the automotive community to discuss any of his actions or find a solution that will benefit both parties.

^ your post makes no sense (ie: what are you talking about them increasing their pay?) and is full of grammar mistakes... until we can do a lot better as a community nothing will change in our favour.

The automotive community has done nothing wrong,if anything,it has toned down alot compared to how it was 10-15 years ago.The issue is with a rogue cop and his goons who seem to be causing the problems.

Police officers in BC make good money, actually.

VPD, for example:
Quote:
Annual Salaries

Probationary Constable – $70,154
4th Class Constable (after 1 year) – $75,165
3rd Class Constable (after 2 years) – $80,176
2nd Class Constable (after 3 years) –$90,198
1st Class Constable (after 4 years) – $100,220

Well... I mean... they should be paid well, not every job comes with the inherent possibility for you to get killed every day....

Just some of them suck at their jobs, Cain being a good example.

Thanks! and you wonder why I did not respond back to your first post. What is more impressive is that I knew you would catch it and respond back.Sure enough you did.

Now lets get back to what is really important,a corrupt cop on a personal vendetta.

Vancouver is not a city in the USA where every potential person they check out might have a gun.I can name plenty of jobs that are far more dangerous than a police officer for the city of Vancouver.

You obviously have no idea how police work is, so you should just stop talking in this vein... I worked in that environment for 14 years.

Please go ahead and name other jobs that are more dangerous than one where you're constantly responding to requests to forcibly remove people who are drunk or on drugs or want to fight or entering homes for domestic violence situations, etc literally on a daily basis.

We're all upset at Cain because he's an asshole, but don't marginalize the profession because of him.

That's not the point. The point is they are not paid absurd amounts of money for the risk/responsibilities they take on.

We all know tig welding naked on Mars is more dangerous.

Does it matter if there are more dangerous jobs out there? Police officers are required for a safe and functional society and whatever agency is hiring them, be it RCMP, OPP, VPD, etc., needs to offer a remuneration package that will attract and maintain qualified individuals. Dangerous jobs generally require a better remuneration package to offset the inherent risks.

I didn't intend to imply that police officers aren't deserving of the salary the receive (if anyone inferred that), just wanted to counter the statement that they receive little pay when even a probationary constable makes well above the Canadian average for full-time employment ($55,800/year).

That's really simplifying it. Look up the schooling, licenses, test and training it takes to make constable and then do the same thing for a job that pays 55.8k. One is not like the other. You can't just show up at the cop shop do two weeks of training and they give you a cruiser and a Glock.

Good lord, who gives a shit about how much a cop makes or what training or schooling. Point is that him and his buddies are wasting time and resources on modified cars that aren't killing or hurting anyone, and not spending those resources or time on the asshats that blast through reds, stop signs or drive drunk or any one of of those dangerous traffic violations that kill people.
What is more important to enforce, dangerous life threatening driving, or some low and noisy car? (Unless that modded car is street racing or driving like an asshat)
Yes both are infractions but which is keeping the public safer through enforcement?
If you tell me a low and noisy car is more dangerous, then i have lost faith in this community. This is coming from someone who lost someone from an asshole that ran the red at 41st and Nanaimo, killed a family friend of mine, ran off.

But that's not how law enforcement works, at all. I'm not saying VI's are a good use of time, but how are they supposed to enforce red lights? Have a cop sitting at every intersection watching? Same with stop signs? It's impossible. A lot of law enforcement is reactive.

If a cop sees you blow a stop sign, he will stop you. If a cop sees you blow a red light, he will stop you. If someone sends in a video, they will investigate as far as I can tell. If a cop sees your Vi-able car, he will stop you. It's not like there are calls for 10000 drunk drivers on their radio and they're not takeing those calls to give you a VI.

You're implying drunk driving and red lights are not enforced in lieu of Vi's. I don't know anyone that's a cop so I'm not their fanboi, but that's just not true.

I have watched cars blow through reds in front of cops without getting pulled over. I watch people regularly jaywalk in front of cops without tickets. I watched someone on their phone at Robson and homer get a knock on the window from a cop, and get told to put the phone down and that’s it. I do appreciate police using some discretion and letting some dumb shit slide with a warning, but some consideration to what out of those actions are more dangerous to those around should be a pretty significant factor in their discretion.

The "police should be doing other work" statement has been made too many times before in the thread.

Either way it doesn't really solve any problems. It's an uphill battle for the community.

IMO the best course of action is knowing your rights and know how to fight off the charges if your car is stock.

Vancouver however is a city with a large homeless population. They've found many guns and other weapons in Oppenheimer Park.
