How do you filter out the troll reports? Is there a way to flag them? It pretty much defeats the purpose of that site once they start popping up all over the map.

The admin supposedly goes through and deletes the troll reports periodically. The people that are even spending the time to put in the troll reports are the ones ruining it for everyone. This is why we can't have nice things, people don't even take this seriously.

Spoiler!

I wouldn't be surprised if its the VPD putting it in themselves to either troll or to through us all off.

At which point *if* its true, I wouldn't expect any less immaturity from the Cain crew.

Just sayin'

westopher 03-16-2020 04:55 PM

They wouldn’t be nearly that funny.

So I drove past 2 VPD speeding checkpoints with bike cops today...Did not bat an eye. Maybe this coronavirus thing changed their minds? I was sure I was gonna get pulled over

Enjoy the break. They'll resort back to normal VI duties in a few weeks.

The story is getting more traction.

edit: wrong thread

In the midst of the Wuhan coronavirus doom and gloom, I have some VI-related news to share.

I received the following letter from the OPCC yesterday, and I’d recommend anyone who is interested in the subject to read the OPCC letter first, before coming back to consider my personal assessment of the situation.

Page 1
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/gX...E=w699-h904-no

Page 2
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Rf...3=w699-h904-no

For the most part, I cannot determine whether this could be classified as good news or bad – at most, it is news, and exactly just that – news on the still-developing issue.

It is clear from the letter that the OPCC remains concerned whether the VPD has the legislated authority to direct a person to take their vehicle to a specific and police-indicated DIF (Designated Inspection Facility). I would even go as far as to say that the OPCC does not believe the VPD currently has this authority.

In light of that “lack of clarity”, the VPD is currently seeking a resolution from the provincial government to determine whether they have this authority. So the OPCC is asking CVSE to assist the Traffic Safety Committee of the BC Police Chiefs Association to interpret the MVAR and obtain this clarity.

Based on my previous correspondence/interactions with all the different bodies that are involved, my impressions are as follows:

- The CVSE absolutely do not want to get themselves into this legal mess. Having said that, I strongly believe they are an important stakeholder because the outcome of the decision will have a direct impact on the operations that they oversee. If the VPD (or any police, for that matter) is allowed to designate which DIF inspections are to be performed, it creates a huge inequality issue because non-dealership DIFs immediately become second class citizens even though in theory, their status as DIF should be the same as dealership DIFs.

- The BC Police Chiefs Association will obviously prefer to side with the police, and grant the authority to designate which DIF drivers are to go to upon receiving an N&O. Whether they can do that (ie. side with the police) is another question. Given what I have seen, I am very skeptical about what they will do. But maybe the OPCC’s position is enough to keep them honest.

I do not know what the outcome of this will be, but I sincerely hope that at least we would be able to eke out a small win on the freedom to choose our own shop to perform the inspection should we get issued with an N&O.

Just a note Traum if you wanted to keep your name off of that, you need to black it out on the bottom of page 2 as well

Thank you for the reminder, 68style. I have no interest at all in becoming famous, but at this point (after 1+ year in following this issue), I don't think my name is really any top secret info anymore...

Honestly, let me buy you a beer next time I see you IRL.

thumper 03-20-2020 08:46 AM

i've been out of the loop here, and haven't been following since at least 12-16 pages back. someone told me that this cain/christensen/etc. team of vpd cops are part of a multijurisdictional enforcement group, and they now cover more than than just the vancouver area? ie. they can be anywhere in the GVRD?

twitchyzero 03-20-2020 08:50 AM

officers can enforce outside their usual jurisdiction

This has been a case though. A peace officer in BC has technical jurisdiction anywhere in BC. Whether not not the forces in other districts appreciate that, that's another matter. Then again, when did these fools care about stepping on people's toes anyway?

JSALES 03-20-2020 01:48 PM

Apparently got a VI on Bridgeport and Shell road. Don’t know if it’s true

Cain doesn't have the balls to vi in Surrey.

It's true. Check the other posts and pictures in the Facebook group post. It's him.

The_AK 03-20-2020 02:25 PM

Cain coughing on peoples cars in Richmond now. Hide your kids, hide your wife.

JSALES 03-20-2020 02:35 PM

I guess Richmond really isn’t safe anymore. Did Cain wait for this guy to come out of a shop to give him a VI?

BIC_BAWS 03-20-2020 04:22 PM

Not sure what Cain is doing in Richmond. My buddy who is in IRSU says that Cain isn't in IRSU, and IRSU isn't a fan of him either. So all those claims about him being in IRSU - refuted.
