the insult to injury is using the miata as a writing desk

boibuddha 05-15-2020 07:08 PM

Not sure if you guys can see this, but an R33 got a box 1 VI for exhaust and no orange reflectors.

So glad I moved out of Vancouver. Does this dick really think he is making the world a better place?

twitchyzero 05-15-2020 10:25 PM

what a joke, do they expect you to cut fenders to stick one in or export it back to japan for good? :seriously:

Stick on reflectors are available at Canadian Tire for less than ten dollars. As much as Cain is a dick, it was an entirely preventable issue, but some people hate adding reflectors for aesthetic reasons.

this seems to happen a lot with the "100% bone stock" stories we hear...

does he know blurring plates is an option? or is his bone stock tl that rare that we'd be able to identify him?

Euro7r 05-16-2020 04:23 PM

I really don't know why side reflectors warrant a Box1/2. It's clearly an easy fixable offence. Waste of taxpayers fucking time by VPD.

68style 05-16-2020 08:42 PM

I shaved the side reflectors on my 68 Mustang back in 1999 and nobody ever said a word to me cops or otherwise... and I’m pretty sure it’s not a danger to the public that they’re not there ?? What is the purpose of them anyway? Can’t see the fuckin car at night coming at it from the side cuz 2 tonnes of metal object isn’t obvious enough?

Nevermind the fact I drive the car like 5 times a year.

I’ll make sure never to park at the end of a T intersection occifer FailFish

its so u can identify the direction of travel of said vehicle in front of u. amber reflectors up front and red reflectors out back will give u an idea of which direction the said vehicle is pointing and potentially traveling. of course now a days with DRL being standard on every car produced post 199X, it should be easily distinguishable which way the vehicle is traveling. but dont forget, these laws/rules were made before DRL so someone driving with no lights on, these reflectors could save a potential accident.

Welp, sounds like when I come back with my Camaro SS, gotta keep it in Stealth mode.

Seriously, how petty is Cain... How long as this frekin' been?

I don't really look at this as any sort of pettiness anymore. Instead, I tend to believe that:

1) these jokers really think they are doing "the right thing" by enforcing the VI regs on enthusiasts

2) the steady stream of both VI's and violation tickets serve to "prove" their strong work ethic and production rate -- gosh I want to barf from just writing that out -- to their superiors, and this makes them look good (to their superiors).

What we need to do here is to hold them accountable for making shxt up and abusing their authority. That's where the complaints and lawsuits come in.

If you follow Christensens twitter the guy has an ego the size of a fuckin planet, I don’t even think he remembers what being a police officer is supposed to mean he is just out to see how many people he can fuck and brag about every day.

He immediately blocks anyone that tries to engage him in any discourse about his misapplication of laws.

To that end, a lot of sycophantic bootlicking going on in those comments. Now I remember why I barely use Twitter.

i'm all for it on bicycles

Europe/Japan seems to get by fine without side reflectors on motor vehicles

tegra7 05-20-2020 07:20 PM

I can confirm this. Saw a modded Mercedes pulled over in South Surrey today.

RCMP in British Columbia - We heard you White Rock?and that is the problem.

TypeRNammer 05-21-2020 09:51 AM

Saw this about 10 minutes ago on highway 91. VW GTi that's lowered on RPF1's with a bit of poke, pulled over by 3 RCMP cruisers.

That's a speed trap. They have been there for a few weeks now. Hopefully just a speeding ticket.

TypeRNammer 05-24-2020 06:37 AM

Speed trap this morning as per time stamp. SB Knight Bridge.

VPD Bike Gang, think I saw Christensen in the mix.

Maybe that black Ford Focus shouldn't have blew by me so quick :lawl:

Otherwise modded cars, avoid this bridge for your morning commute.

dark0821 05-24-2020 07:46 AM

or just avoid Vancouver all together....

at first I kinda miss cruising down spanish banks / ubc with the window down and listening to some tunes.... but is not worth the risk... my heart beat goes up everytime i approach willingdon to go further east, since they are known to go past boundary into the metrotown area...

thank god my life/commute has no Vancouver in it at all....

320icar 05-24-2020 08:19 AM

I’ve driven through Vancouver once since this thread was created (September 2018). A total shithole city and I don’t miss it at all

keifun 05-24-2020 10:06 AM

Wow. Both directions too. SB and NB . First time I saw that.

This is not unheard of. They often do this in both directions, but more regularly on the south bound portion.

twitchyzero 05-24-2020 11:23 AM

west van pd hit me with obstructed plate said at least it's not a VI (vehicle is more or less stock)

cruising hwy 99 at spd limit when a truck he had pulled over just beforehand merged unsafely back onto the road. I changed into the passing lane to kinda avoid this when the officer eyed my car as he was hopping back into his cruiser...sped up to me within 20s to pull me over: shit, was that worth endangering everyone else? not sure if west van is hurting from covid cash crunch but now i can see why surrey wants to keep a muni force out

Friend got a Box 2 VI before this whole situation was a thing by West Van PD. Car in front of him was getting pulled over, so he switched lanes. Cop stopped my friend too and yelled at him for that being illegal/unsafe. Not really sure how that is, considering the alternative is to just sit behind the cop car and wait. Anyway, he ended up getting a BOX 2 for blinking brake lights and everything else was stock LOL.
