Hard to say... I mean if our pockets are deep enough and we make them look good because it's a positive influence to the community (community policing, right? Pftt); probably, but not sustainable. Don't get me wrong, this event is for a very good cause but I'm just waiting for them to ticket one of these supercars after the event because they're too loud driving home. I mean come on, cars that are OEM to OEM+ getting dinged for daily driving and Christensen smiling and boasting loud supercars on their social media sounds like double standards to me.

I know this was last years event, but holy moly.

It might not be a bad idea to revisit the news stories on VPD's systematic discrimination against car enthusiasts, especially regarding the unmodified press car. It might gain some traction this time around.

Again, we are most likely talking about a very small percentage of the officers. But at least one supervisor is allowing, if not encouraging, this to continue to happen, and it is a good time to ask for accountability.

I regretfully agree. Although this would be a totally savage way of exploiting a BLM movement, I feel it's got traction and momentum for our cause too... Technically, it is in line with the VPD members abusing their power.

I am now very happy to share something with you from Kevin Yeung, the owner of that Porsche 911 Targa 4S that made the news some months ago for his completely stock, unmodified Porsche being VI'd. Here is the link:
Kevin has taken it upon himself to seek his own counsel to pursue this matter on being unfairly treated by the VPD and demanding that something be done in regards to their abuse of power when it comes to handing out VI's.
Below you will find an email that was written to the Deputy OPCC Commissioner: Andrea Spindler which outlines the clear differences on how the VPD treat someone that donates to the Vancouver Police Community Fund and someone that does not (95% of us fall under this category I imagine)
Please take some time to read this email and use it as a guideline for you, yourself to write in to the OPCC (the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner) to ASpindler@opcc.bc.ca outlining the issues that you have faced with the VPD unlawfully issuing Vehicle Inspection Notices to your car. Andrea Spindler is the commissioner of the OPCC and we need to flood her inbox with as much evidence as we can with the constant abuse of power we have seen over the years by the VPD.
Please submit your emails as soon as possible outlining what you have been through. Be professional in your conduct and provide all the evidence that you can within your email. Thank you all for your support.

Good evening Deputy OPCC Commissioner Andrea Spindler
ASpindler@opcc.bc.ca
I personally know both Kevin Gordon and Kevin Yeung as businessmen who contribute a great deal back to our community. Kevin Gordon founded The Driven Project and Kevin Yeung was a Chairman for UNICEF. But this story is not about the two Kevins as people because they are both helpful humanitarians. This story is about inequality and the double standards applied by the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) that affects all motorists. The two Kevins are examples of how the VPD blatantly treats and mistreats motorists with their double standards. Being in the automobile sector, I wish to reach out to you the in the light of recent events. I personally love the automotive scene, I feel that I should reach out to in regards to this situation.
Both Kevins drive nice cars. Kevin Gordon drives a heavily modified Lamborghini Huracan Performante https://www.instagram.com/p/BwFgP6oJ...d=sub5ppy4q7z1
Kevin Yeung drives a “completely unmodified” Porsche 911 Targa 4S.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B1kQj2HH...=1x9f3o31oltt8
Kevin Gordon received full support from the VPD who supplied five VPD Traffic Officers to escort his Lamborghini which sounded like this;
https://www.instagram.com/p/BxAx-8tF...d=wqxpl8ka922u
With their years of experience, training coupled with the amount of Notices and Orders that they issued in the past it is simply improbable that all five VPD Traffic Officers led by Sargent Mark Christensen who has over 33 years of experience himself could not hear that most of the supercars present exceed well over the 83db legal noise limits. It’s equally disingenuous to believe that none of the five Traffic Officers present noticed how illegally lowered the supercars were including the lead car were https://mobile.twitter.com/VPDTraffi...91440465326081
Sargent Mark Christensen with his VPD Traffic colleagues walked around all the cars and had over an hour before departure to visually inspect all the cars before they led the roaring (and potentially unsafe for the children who were riding in them) supercar convoy across Vancouver’s neighbourhoods. The collective noise generated by all these cars driving in a convoy sounded like a thunderstorm. I have experienced these events personally driving my Zzzz with zero enhancements. Some of the vehicles present produce enough noise to the point where one can no longer think or concentrate during the drive.
https://twitter.com/baldguy1363/stat...780264450?s=20
https://www.instagram.com/p/ByVuNETJ...d=zw6b1lwj0m59
Kevin Yeung drove not in a Supercar convoy but in regular everyday traffic when he was stopped by VPD and ordered to reverse his car dangerously across multiple lanes into oncoming traffic so that the VPD officer could conduct a noise test on his car. He received a Violation Ticket for excessive noise and a Notice and Order Box 2 (to be issued only when there are multiple deficiencies, or the deficiency is severe.) This Order required a Full Vehicle Inspection for his 4 year old Porsche which was well serviced by the local Vancouver Porsche store and had zero enhancements to anything on the vehicle.
It is rumoured that Kevin Gordon donated a generous sum to the Vancouver Police Community Fund and Kevin Yeung did not. Commissioner Spindler it’s very important for the OPCC to find out if the VPD received any benefits from Kevin Gordon.
All motorists share the road and are protected by equal rights across Canada. It’s to our public’s interest to know if the VPD applied double standards to benefit select motorists like Kevin Gordon above all motorists like Kevin Yeung. That is a breach of public trust and unlawful.
We are citizens fighting for and safeguarding equal rights for ALL motorists. Policing must have one and only one standard. Policing must be inclusive and never exclusive to benefit those who “donate” to the Police. I believe justice in Vancouver, justice in British Columbia and justice across Canada is NOT for sale.
Are the owners of sports cars being targeted in Vancouver? There are some drivers that believe this is the case. Greg Harper looks into it.

Does any one know what sheriff's department means in bc? I've seen a few sheriff's vehicles drive around, are they a apart of vpd? Rcmp? Jail transport?

68style 06-21-2020 01:09 PM

They’re for the court system, prisoner transport

TypeRNammer 06-21-2020 01:23 PM

CVSE truck sitting on Knight Bridge Southbound at around 2pm, wonder if he's scoping for Cain and Co. :lawl:

Highly recommend you pass this on to someone and get a re-write before people use this as a template. It is very poorly worded.

Particularly throwing supercar owners/participants of that escorted event right under the bus - not a good look at all.

twitchyzero 06-22-2020 09:50 AM

yeah let's flood her inbox based on rumours and social media accounts

That too. I don't feel that is the best approach, the message should be all enthusiasts united fighting the same battle. The email basically spotlights the unfair treatment/favoritism of certain individuals and not on the issue at hand.

This weekend (or last I dunno) the driven project with the police escort was at my aunts neighbours house. As much as we shit on the whole double standard of Cain and Christiansen, those kids and the families were absolutely PUMPED. The whole neighbourhood came out to support and check it out

Ronin 06-22-2020 11:29 AM

Some of my friends know the dude behind the Driven Project. The kids love this and I think they had a contest where some kids would get to ride in the cars.

Also, although they were in squad cars and bikes, the police doing the escorting were doing so voluntarily and were not on the clock.

Is that fact that they were not on the clock?

If anything were to happen if they weren't "on the clock" their insurances wouldn't cover for any mishaps... I don't think they would take that risk.

68style 06-22-2020 01:55 PM

The VPD itself is definitely getting paid, there’s an area to inquire for costs for parade routes etc

BIC_BAWS 06-22-2020 02:09 PM

Here's why the VI situation is at a stand still:

Everyone who complains about VIs only bitch about it on the Facebook group. If you have gotten a VI, file a complaint with both the VPD and OPCC.

Similarly to when I first started the movement here and with the reporters, the class action side of it is at a stand still due to a lack of evidence. Hearsay does not count as evidence.

I've personally spoken to the lawyer involved on the class action side of things. Funny enough, the lawyer is an acquaintance of mine, but they wanted to stay lowkey. I also wanted to stay lowkey, so the lawyer didn't know that I'm bicbaws on RS.

The lawyer and class action is legit. Just needs hard evidence.

In that e-mail, “sergeant” isn’t even spelled correctly

68style 06-23-2020 08:46 PM

If any of you are on the Auto Alliance group... Christensen gave a VI to a Porsche GT3 (I think) on repair plates in the driveway of the Porsche dealership in Vancouver today... and the Porsche tech that was test-driving the car is the same tech who does the inspections there hahaha

Me thinks he might have stepped on some too big toes this time.

Someone said the car was modded with an exhaust by-pass. So the car should have failed a VI.

Yah that's what someone "said"....... we will see

Regardless, it's literally 2 days after the same officer was escorting straight piped Lamborghini's around the lower mainland. The irony is delicious... like shit sandwich delicious.

LP700-4 06-23-2020 10:50 PM

Can confirm car has aftermarket exhaust. Tech was on road test when Christensen pulled over and both parties came back to dealer to talk with management. No VI given because its not possible to give VI to repair plated car with open RO. Car belongs to a local dealer's inventory.
