So an N driver ignored a VI and then was dicking around on his phone in his definitely not nearly stock car? |
Quote:
He pulled over and pulled out his phone to record the incident and was given the using electronic device. That's so fucked up if everything is true. So funny, one of the posters said he saw the car and it was stock. Not sure what is true anymore. |
It's barely modified, he doesn't even have custom rims... I do not know the owner, but visually: darkened headlight housings, CF hood and exhaust shouldn't be license for a pullover. His exhaust can't be that loud, it blew a 93db with Cain's method of measurement (ie: holding it right at the opening). We can only assume he's telling the truth about using his phone after he pulled over and in that case the ticket is not justified... but good luck to him in court, his word against a peace officer he's dead in the water. Cain's typical thing where he gives 3-4 tickets for the same problem (ie: exhaust) and rips the inspection decal off a car that didn't pass where he wanted it to pass.. and even if it had passed at a Toyota dealership I'm sure he would have ripped it off anyway. Guy's just a straight up dick, don't throw another car enthusiast under the bus giving this turd of a cop any benefit of your doubt. |
QUOTE=trollface;9023176]7.03(5) Noise increase or flames prohibited (5)No person shall drive or operate a motor vehicle propelled by an internal combustion engine equipped with a muffler or exhaust system to which is attached any device which increases the noise of the expulsion of the gases from the engine or allows a flame to be emitted from the exhaust system. So everyone is fucked?[/QUOTE] Quote:
The meat and potatoes of what happened was, huracan owner went into court to argue that the infraction is a behaviour based offense, he questions the issuing officer in court (buckingham iirc) and asked if at the time of the infraction, he (the driver) was doing anything like revving, aggressive down shifting etc etc to warrant excessive noise, and the cop said no he wasnt, that he (the cop) just thought the car was too loud. The judge in this case told the owner of the huracan that there is no need for these cars on the road and he himself (the judge) drives a prius. Ticket was upheld. So to answer the quoted questions, yes everyone is fucked. Yes you can dispute the ticket but the bias towards performance cars (apparently stock or modified) goes all the way up to the judges as well, who are probably colluding with the police officers behind closed doors. |
I think there is a distinction between a muffler that increases the noise (a whistle) vs one that doesn't decrease the noise as much. |

The latest update from that group is for ppl to appeal the descision and take the matter to a true judge to rule on the matter. That would set a precedence and if things go right, would shut that loop hole. That being said, if the owner of the Lambo requested a copy of the transcript, it would have the comment by the JP about the prius and that would warrant the appeal and show bias which could apply to have the JP removed since they are not supposed to show bias. |

22.5k for a 2016 scion frs with a turbo and full of mod holes? That deserves a VI in itself. /s |
Saw Cain a few days ago sitting in his F150, on the right lane of Marine Drive between Victoria & Kerr at 4pm (ie. when there's no parking) - he was sitting there with his lights on, but nobody pulled over or anything. He was talking on his cell phone. Police business or not, why would you sit there and block a lane causing even more traffic during rush hour... |

Seems EXACTLY like something he would do. Probably hits up Boston Pizza and White Spot 5 minutes before closing time to order food with his first responder discount and doesn't leave a tip too. |
Dave @ DDE posted that they got a Box 2 and unnecessary noise ticket on their Carrera GT last night. Apparently joining the fight now. Pro: Someone with money, influence and an audience has joined the fight Con: DDE isn't exactly known for being a good, responsible representation of the car community. And their cars are usually modified in a way where it is entirely not compliant with the MVA. Interesting to see how this plays out. |

a $600 inspection will be nothing compared to the youtube ad rev they get out of it. probably buzzed the cop shop looking to get pulled over these guys are the absolute worst - Kardashians for dudes |
Sorry, but what/who is DDE? TL;DR version is fine. Will accept Kardashians for dudes as suitable answer. :accepted: |

Another batch of hoonigans is the best way to describe it. |
aka Douchebag Driven Exotics. I thought they moved up here and that's why I keep hearing stuff rolling around in track modes. |

Yah I was laughing about this on the Facebook group, everyone is like "Fuck ya dey gonna get the cops for us!!" But everything those guys do is skirting laws because they're rich... driving Alberta plated cars full-time here, the Porsche in question is straight-piped and fucking loud... apparently their R34 Skyline also got towed too. I have zero doubt they came into town (travel restrictions be damned! DDE never wear any masks anyway) with the intention of getting pulled and creating a video. These guys are NOT going to help the cause at all... if anything they're going to make it worse. |
And the sad part is that the younger generation looks to these guys as role models  |

Whenever I hear an hours worth of donuts around midnight it's usually them. |
It still makes no sense to me that the same cops handing out VI's and tickets to stock Huracans happily provide a motorcade for the drive4change Performante which has an exhaust. How messed up is this. And I was talking with someone on IG last night about this and he was telling me how some guy in a Porsche got pulled over for a VI and the Perf drove by, the Porsche owner asked the cop if he's going to pull the Perf over and he just laughed. Btw, here's a a link to the stock Huracan that got pulled over a few days ago... https://www.instagram.com/jonathanspowage/ Realistically what would be the cost to bring this matter to the BC Supreme court and is there any traffic lawyers willing to take a look at this? |
