Yup, I noticed and pointed out this hypocrisytoo when the police provided traffic control for the Hublot Rally as well.

The lawyer that the FB VI page is using or planning to use is a friend. She said the issue right now is that there's no funds to pursue this. She's willing to take it to court, but $$$$, no pro bono

Wish this guy had video or would update with what happened when he talked to the officer’s supervisor

Hmm... OK. For some reason, I thought COVID delays from the firm and the courts were the issue. Didn't know (and didn't think) funding was ever the problem...

68style 05-05-2021 02:38 PM

That’s a pretty big statement cuz the organizers of the FB group who control the money that was donated to the cause are saying it’s COVID delayed when questioned about progress (or lack thereof).

Harvey Specter 05-05-2021 03:04 PM

What's the ballpark figure?

COVID delays with the courts/firm, lack of evidence, lack of funds. That gofund me raised $6554. That gets you 26 hours LOL.

I think it's $250/hr. It'll defs take a long time.

Will update with ballpark figure if you're interested in funding it.

68style 05-05-2021 04:08 PM

Jesus, $250 an hour... robbery lol

JDMDreams 05-05-2021 04:50 PM

We need to hire this guy

hud 91gt 05-05-2021 04:58 PM

$250 an hour is pretty cheap when it comes to lawyers isn’t it?

There are $100 and $1000 lawyers.

I would hire the guy that defended OJ Simpson.

bcrdukes 05-05-2021 08:00 PM

$250/hr? That's on the low end.

JD¹³ 05-05-2021 10:06 PM

The Carerra GT is straight-piped and it's absolutely obnoxious. Legitimately deserves a VI honestly. Those two will do nothing but fan the flames and make it worse, they'll be a hindrance not a help.

GIZZ 05-06-2021 09:53 AM

I watched the latest DDE vid this morning. He didn't get a VI, instead the VPD cop gave his R34 GTR a 7 day impound. I'd rather have the box 2, thanks.

I asked in the video comments where it was, maybe looked like mary hill bypass but nowhere in Vancouver. Somebody replied hwy 17. So I'm not safe by staying out Vancouver?

320icar 05-06-2021 11:29 AM

Hwy 17 is an 80kmh zone entirely, even down to 50kmh in that one section. Maybe he was speeding like normal? I haven’t watched the video yet

Edit: just skimmed through it. Did I miss something or did the officer refuse to give almost any information, including the speed, hope he was caught, the officers name etc. Could be an edited video but clearly that officer had no intention of being cooperative.

MarkyMark 05-06-2021 11:43 AM

I saw that R34 getting towed on my way home from work on Hwy 17. I have no doubt they were "excessively" speeding because the speed limit is a joke at 80km/h on that highway.

That being said the guy looks like a douche so whatever lol

On the FB group, they posted they also got a box 2 VI on the CGT.

BlackV62K2 05-06-2021 02:14 PM

Not defending those guys but these VPDs handing out VIs are fucking dicks too. Watch the video of the R34 getting towed and that cop was an asshole.

Where exactly on highway 17?

Im curious as to why VPD had radar set up on highway 17 when no portion of it runs through vancouver.

Between 104th Ave and the part where you drive under the Port Mann bridge heading West. I've never seen radar on the part where they got pulled over because there's not really a shoulder to do it on. I wonder if they just blew by the unmarked SUV without realizing it's a cop.

Edit: Watched the video and he said the cop was standing behind a sign... Thats a new one I've been driving that road 5 times a week for a couple years now and never seen that, guess I'll have to keep a look out there.

CorneringArtist 05-06-2021 03:35 PM

The 17 really needs a second speed limit for cars like they have on I-5. 80 km/h for trucks, 90 for cars.

bcrdukes 05-06-2021 07:27 PM

What's worse? VPD VIs and speed traps? Or Aircare inspections? :troll:

68style 05-06-2021 09:15 PM

VPD is contracted out to IRSU right now, so they are patrolling a variety of places now

Come on, man? Was AirCare really that bad? My lightly modified VW always passed in flying colours, and I was under the impression that as long as you run a cat -- even with the high flow ones -- it is extremely unlikely for a car to fail when it has been properly maintained.
